Mario Galaxy launched relatively early in the Wii's lifespan.
Mario Kart launched a bit later, and was later bundled with the system.
Either way, I see 3D Mario as the title people are more likely to say "holy shit I need to buy a Wii U". I could be wrong of course.
Total sales of a games doesn't necessarily equal "system selling" potential.
For example you think NSMBU sold more U's than 3D Mario would have? I doubt it. Either way NSMBU would be the higher total sales lifetime, but that's not the point.
So far the only thing that is pushing me to get a Wii U is that Zelda Wind Waker HD, Super Smash Bros U, and Monolith (which might not even get localized). Though since these games aren't released yet I'm not really interested in the system... yet.
I do have to say that I like some games that they're bringing back. Yoshi's Story sounds awesome especially since I liked the N64 version.

The problem is that we have absolutely no data other than sales figures to determine this. You can't just randomly look at a game and go, "Wow, I'll bet that sold systems!" and then declare it as truth. Sales numbers are the only data we have.
MK Wii sold over 3 times as much as the 3D Mario game. You can't ignore that and say, "Well, people just bought that after they had the console." If anything, the fact that it was bundled WITH the system makes it even more likely to be called a "system-seller."
I think it probably will be localized. It was already shown on NA and EU directs and Wii U is struggling with lack of software even without them not localizing key titles.
I don't get the "CoD just an annual update" bashing, but Nintendo is pumping out Mario games and spinoffs at a much faster rate.
Don't get me wrong, I can't stand nor do I play FPS' (mostly because I suck at them), but it seems hypocritical; also not saying the bashing happens here, just the internet in general.
Nintendo doesn't release a traditional mario platformer on an annual basis, and the occasional times that does happen you get New Super Mario Bros Wii and SMG 2, 2 very different games. If CoD released an FPS one year and like a Third Person Tactical espionage Ghost Recon style game the following, you wouldn't hear so much complaining.
You can hardly fault Nintendo for using Mario to sell new titles, but don't try to say that the Mario name is milked more than CoD when what mario games exist differ completely from the core experience. Mario Kart, Super Mario Galaxy, New Super Mario Bros, Mario Party, these are all unique experiences that don't impact the other titles. It is a wonder why Activision has yet to branch CoD out to other genres and play styles. Could be as simple as they are simply afraid of what a new genre using the CoD name might do with the franchise. Would explain why they continue to simply evolve their core FPS mechanics instead of tread into new design territory.

I see your point, but I do think the performance of Wii U hardware so far lends some credence to the idea that games like Mario Kart might have benefited more from the Wii userbase than the other way around.
Would an amazing looking 3D Mario unveiled at E3 sell at much as Mario Kart over time?
Doubtful.
Would it gain more hype and exposure and sell the system on the type of core adopters Nintendo needs?

Well that doesn't prove anything either. Unless you're gonna call Nintendoland a "system seller'. 3D Mario is also arguably a better platform to innovate from than Mario Kart. Many will say the last few games have been too similar.
I said I obviously could be wrong. But I see MK and NSMB games more as supplemental games, and Zelda and Mario more like games that people tend to talk about as games that they buy systems for. Doesn't mean those supplemental games can't have higher overall sales, as they are built more towards being accessible for the masses. But I've never heard anybody say they bought or are buying a system for NSMB games, and rarely MK. Do you dispute these ideas? If so then I guess we'll agree to disagree.
That's all I'm saying. Not trying to start a fight. Neither of us can prove anything. The limited "facts" we have are on your side, but the subjective analysis (imho of course) is on my side.
EDIT: shuelma put it more succinctly than I did. Same idea.
Deus Ex is a cyberpunk FPS with heavy stealth and RPG elements. Straight Right is the Australian dev studio that ported Mass Effect 3 to Wii U.
I really liked the first one (played it on PC), but never played the other entries in the series.
If the gamepad usage is awesome (it has potential clearly) I'd consider a late HR port on Wii U. But probably not at full price. After all, I've had HR available to me for PC at $10-15 for awhile and I haven't pulled the trigger...
Seeing how Rayman Legends won't be there to fill the void I've been thinking of investing into MH3U. Never played a Monster Hunter game before but people keep saying good things about 'em. What should I expect?
Also, any reason why Deus Ex: HR is considered the most likely game to get a port?

ah, I see, thanks! I should say: "EatChildren, you!" right?
Well, I don't get why they think it's a better idea to port dead old games available for $10 to Wii U, instead of porting their recent games, but well, who cares!
I have been playing almost all PC games released this generation with a 3 year delay, that is the time I usually upgrade my PC; I don't like not playing the games with everything maxed

Your free time taking a deep dip if you get into it! But fortunately it can be played in small chunks of time [like an hour, there's a time limit to missions a lot of the times]
Well, structurally, it consists of different areas connected together via paths; so it's somehow like an open world game, but limited in scope; it's like the big cities in the Oblivion where you could go wherever you wanted in the city, but you had to go through the doors and loading time between each stage.
It has one of the most fluid and best designed 3rd person combat mechanism; probably the best for games that aren't made by Kamiya. It's a mixture of close combat or range combat, depending on your equipment, and item usage. Items play a really important role.
For the time that you aren't finding with the monsters, you have to fight with the nature and the environment; you can get cold, and then you need to drink something hot, or you get hungry and need to BBQ meat.
Then you are given requests based on your rank and you can advance through them; there are some side attractions that are jobs in the village as well.

I haven't played MMOs much, but I believe it's basically an MMO without all those enemies; of course with this version you can go hunting along your friends. Some more dangerous mosnters may require a team to be taken down.

It's one of the few games that you can describe with the word Epic; I'd say definitely get this if you haven't played a Monster Hunter before.

I'm not quite sure, but I think it came largely from people ruling out various other options such as Tomb Raider.
I'm working on AC3 PC, and playing BO2 and NSMBU. I'll be occupied for awhile, but the list isn't looking idea. I'll probably get Wii Fit U only because my work will pay for it ("fitness" reimbursement program... very loose with the rules for what that encompasses). Probably not much else though until Mario Kart and 3D Mario.
REALLY pumped to find out what Retro's project is. Hoping for an epic new IP. The chances they're working on Mario Kark are slim/none.

After Metroid, most people would have said that the chances of Retro working on a DKC sequel were slim/none. At this point they could be working on damn near anything.
I've rewritten this post 3, maybe 4 times. I tried making a post that was positive, while not discrediting someone's enthusiasm for these games. This is proving to be nigh impossible, so I'm going to have to be blunt.
Game and Wario looks great. It is classified under "Mini-Games," but this may be the one "mini-game collection" that I would buy and enjoy. Taking both the Game and Watch series and the Wario Inc. series and synthesizing them to make a game (hopefully) better than both, sounds like a great idea. The Wonderful 101 is also looking exponentially better as I see more of it and the art style alone has sold me on this game. Having played Pikmin 2, I can honestly say that I am extremely excited for Pikmin 3. With the Gamepad, Nintendo has so much potential to make a great game with controls that aren't there for the sake of it.
I would go as far as saying that these three games are the biggest (new) exclusive games for the Wii U this year, although if I wanted to broaden it to HD remakes, I would replace Game and Wario with Wind Waker HD. Considering how the three games I mentioned (the ones I'm the most excited for) are coming out in April 1st at the absolute earliest, doesn't give me faith in Nintendo. These games should have been out already. They should have given me a reason to play my Wii U above my PS3. Instead, I'm addicted to Ni No Kuni, trying to figure out whether to metamorphose my Bone Ranger into a Bone Baron or a Bone Brigadier.
I picked Bone Baron, if you were curious.
Even worse, Nintendo is trying to sell ports of older games that are already on other consoles (Nintendo selling them at full price, no less). Said consoles are rumoured to be succeeded by new ones this Christmas/early 2014, making these ports practically moot by the time the new consoles are released. Nintendo really needs a killer app to get people's interest. Maybe a Legend of Zelda game with a truly unique experience with the Gamepad, not just as an inventory screen.
All I know is that while Q2 is looking good to me, it's looking bad for Nintendo.
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Monoliths X, Scribblenauts Unlimited, Pikmin 3, Game & Wario, The Wonderful 101, Rayman Legends, Wind Waker HD, Pokemon X/Y, Luigi's Mansion, Castlevania LoS: Mirror of Fate, Animal Crossing, whatever Retro's cooking, and possibly the new Yoshi, Mario and Mario Kart titles?
How is COD everything that's wrong with the industry? No online passes, 60fps, heavily supported by its developer, loved by tens of millions of people.
You can hate Activision all you want, but COD is one of the most fun gaming experiences of this generation.

You did nothing wrong, bud. It seems like anything you say nowadays can be confused with fanboyism, sarcasm or trolling. I guess people are on edge with so many exciting things going on
I for one just can't wait to get my hands on pikmin 3! I can't believe it's been so long!

Uhh, which port is Nintendo selling? Nintendo didn't release Batman and Mass Effect, their publishers did. Nintendo also didn't set the price. Blaming Nintendo for crappy 3rd party support is like blaming Sony for a shitty Skyrim port.
