Hey let's all reply to the title without even reading the article!!!
Hold on. Isn't Major Nelson basically a MS PR employee or did I miss something?
Because promoting the damn thing it's supposed to be his job, no?
I said the same thing about a Sony pr article and like 10 people jumped my shit.Because they pay you for it.
He has really exposed himself to being nothing but a corporate shill all year*.

Xbox Live Multiplayer on Xbox One
Youve told us that Xbox Live is the best service for online multiplayer gaming
I've seen this exact tidbit of PR mentioned several times. Who exactly is waiting for a match for more than a few seconds to a minute, let alone long enough to get back to a movie/TV. I can't think of any game that wasn't totally dead where this would be even remotely useful.
EDIT: I should mention, most of this looks good, this specific point keeps irritating me though.
I can do that now with the little "HDMI Input" button on my TV remote...
I just want to know what people were expecting from a PR representative's corporate blog. People seem surprised.
You aren't a shill if you're openly employed by the company.
Thread title is misleading. Should be 'Major Nelson: Why I'm Paid to Talk Up Products From My Employer'.
Man the gaming side of GAF is just embarrassing. Such stupidity, ignorance and just hate. Might as well just fill in the extra letters and be done with it GAmeFaqs
Uh..Of course he's a shill, he works for Microsoft. Were Tretton and other shills when Sony was making bad decisions? What do people expect him to say?
Basically.Sounds like an infomercial.
There is nothing wrong with that article, what is going on in this thread?
People aren't reacting because this press release exists, people are reacting because of the conceit of its presentation.
Lets just keep our negative opinions to ourselves. Sound good? No? Ok.
Are you really implying that people here are so colossally moronic that they need to be warned that a representative of a company - one whose job is to communicate with the public, even - has an incentive to focus on the positives of their company and downplay the negatives?
Instead we got a bland article that essentially says nothing.
I just don't comprehend how the article says nothing.
Because someone who worked for MS wrote it.
However, if it was a third party source, then they would be accused of being a MS shill.
Since he works for MS, then he is an MS Shill.
If it was written by a gaming magazine, then they would be on MS's payroll.
Hot damn. You're on edge today junior, cool it with the backseat modding and don't take every post so goddamn personal.
If this kind of post would be ban-worthy OT-GAF would be without members entirely.
To be fair he sounded more excited about Zune.
should have clarified: nothing new.
Its a round-up of new Xbox features and improvements, some of which have gotten their own press in the past week or two.Instead we got a bland article that essentially says nothing.
When I'm at work I'm excited about online payroll solutions. I'm such a shill! On a side note, how funny would work be if it was like GAF?
Im surprised Major Nelson still has this job. He dosnt exactly fit the demographic anymore.. figured they would find someone younger and fresh to push xbox live next gen.
should have clarified: nothing new.
the enforcement stuff is brandnew.
It's more that he's a PR guy who spouts bullshit about "transistors in the clouds" and other such nonsense. If we had a nuts and bolts article from one of the Xbone's engineers then we wouldn't be having this conversation. Instead we have another disingenuous article from the man who brought us "have you seen Titanfall?".
Because they pay you for it.
They've talked about it before and it's only a slight improvement over their current "reputation" system.

Nothing new to you? Then don't post in the thread. I wasn't aware of the challenges and the enhanced reputation and enforcement. You knew about the beta for it?
