First ever DriveClub direct feed racing footage (GamesCom)

Poking around Sony's press site I found an old video with broll footage of Drive Club, found it on youtube too:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lPixRQ5xqs

Footage has been seen before, but you can really hear the sound effects in the game here. The GLORIOUS sound effects.

this is the best overall footage....broll of everything but with just engine and environment sounds. Best imagine quality too.

to be honest, this is why I have been excited for this game since the reveal. This is what I'm expecting when the game launches.

EVO haven't used CG in their trailers or replays since that whole 2006 E3 fiasco (more to do with Sony Execs imo) but the replays and trailers in Motorstorm 1,2,3 are all legit. They don't add anything to make them look nicer, like Forza and GT.

everyone should watch this video to get the feel of what it could be.

I played it yesterday. It looked damn pretty and the car handling was great. Can't wait to spend some more time with it at launch.

Love the look of the game, even if I'm not huge on racers.

Just for fairness though, I noticed Forza 5 also has the dash reflecting on the windshield. I wonder if the Forza effect is also pre-baked, and if the DC one is dynamic.

In Yoshidas recent interview with Engadget the subject of Occulus Rift came up and they said they have internal R&D projects going on. Really, REALLY hopeful for either Rift or Rift-like support as I can only imagine how great this game would look with such a device.

will this game have any sort of post processing during gameplay? I think it is lacking motion blur, dof and weather effects

It may have been the bad video quality, nbut the first Facebook video looked like the roadside scenery had motion blur - wait until the end of the race with the external cameras, there are some at the side of the car looking at the trackside and the trees look to have some blur

I will not watch more DriveClub videos until they will provide us some high quality videos. This stuff is so bad compressed. It's a mess.

Why don't Sony Upload direct feed gameplay videos of their games to the PSN store?, trailers are good and all, but i'd much rather have official gameplay video in HD on the store over a regular trailer.

They probably know the game will look even better in the beta build and on launch day, so they are hesitant to release direct feed to avoid direct comparisons for now. Sucks, but that's just how they work I guess.

Um, they are releasing direct feed. Or do you mean 1080p direct feed that’s not compressed to shit on Facebook?

I believe they said that’s coming shortly. as in a couple days.

Damn this is actually looking pretty damn sick. While I do hope they achieve 60fps by the end of its development, I'll probably pick it up sooner or later. Also waiting for some higher res footage!

Shame Sony couldn't have waited on this, clearly the E3 showing was just not where it needed to be.
Looks so much better, damn. I hope people haven't written it off based on E3.

I think my purchase of this game may just come down to whether or not my PS3 Wheel is supported. I know it largely isnt up to them if it is or it isnt but I dont want to spend the money on a new wheel and I dont want to go back to usign a controller. I really hope the PS3 wheels can be used otherwise I may just go for GT6. I like sims games better but this looks great.

A lot of PS3 wheels are supported, look for the official Driveclub thread, I think I saw it in the title of the thread itself.

dat reflection

Damn, this must be hard to do. So many things to take into account, like the angle of the sunlight, the amount of light coming throught the window and and how it affects how much of the reflection is visible...

Might be able to cheat it. Prebaked reflection image, alpha intensity of interior reflection determined by angle of car (relative to sun) with a shadow mask applied (you see the tree shadows effecting it).

Since the interior being reflected isn't changing, it seems like it'd be a waste to actually capture it realtime.

Do we still not have a HQ version of this video?

No, Youtube ones have to go through Sony first and they haven't uploaded them yet. As Rushy said:

"@AddnanC It's the only way we're allowed to get these videos up quickly."

Also:
"Paul Rustchynsky ‏@Rushy33 4h
Next two videos will show off different lighting conditions. Sorry about the Facebook compression, we'll get some native vids done soon"

THIS SUCKS, the framerate looks sooo much lower in these videos. i couldnt believe how smooth the game was running at gamescom when i played it

tbh im really looking forward to seeing peoples profile pictures (hopefully none nudity based ._.) but yeah like i can see people wearing horse masks or something, i dunno just saying if i had one of those playstation costumes from that 'greatness awaits' trophy bidding thing, id so have that as my pic :')

It's shaping up to be beautiful, you'd think that would stop people from making declarations about what a final game would be like using an old build but the cycle always repeats.

WTF :

Texting and driving is dangerous, but the upcoming PS4 launch title DriveClub makes connecting with your friends while racing safe. Developed by Evolution, the studio behind MotorSport, DriveClub networks clubs of driving buddies through social networks via a mobile app. Players earn points together to unlock new content, which can be played on both the Vita and PS4 versions. To learn a bit more about Drive Club we sat down for a chat with game director Col Rogers.

I wish it was easier to just get answers to these things from developers xD As an aspiring games programmer being able to have that kind of interaction would be sooo helpful!
