The facts alone that a) it looks georgeous so far, b) it will be bundled with every PS4 and c) it's supposed to have a huge social community featureset will pretty much make this game a huge success, I think.

Also huge kudos to Evolution for not making this an easy microtransaction moneygrab. The fact that you just can buy the whole game content boxed instead of having to pay hundreds to get all cars/tracks/decals/whatever is way too underrated, a lot of devs (or even companies who own the respective console it's launching on) would have done this way different.

Look at the gameplay videos.
Did you really think i would ask that if I hadn't? Every single one of them.

I'm not entirely convinced you have though. There is no motion blur. Did you see something that no one else did? Was it per object motion blur on the balloons that fly up or something?

This is why I have a hard time taking you serious on anything you say...

Where's that from? Need to see a HQ version of this, looks gorgeous! Driveclub just gets better by the day.

It's from the February reveal, so there is no HQ version.

To step in into this rivalry business, Forza 5 looks really good to me and it's impressive that it was running at 60fps from day one. But it seems to me that Turn10 purposely abandoned the search for photorealistic graphics. You can tell the visuals are stylized up to a certain degree. It's really the opposite of Driveclub, despite DC being the arcadish racer. :p

Does anyone think this will become a major flagship franchise for Playstation?

Looking at the stunning new screens and the feel for the game right now, it looks like the game has everything to become a massive racing game franchise going forward.

The next-gen visuals with huge vistas and dynamic weather sets this apart from every other racer out there, which will help it establish itself as a rival to Gran Turismo in the future.

The marketing needs to be right for it to become a major franchise. I just hope Sony don't send it to die.

I was originally under the impression that DC would feature point to point races, but now I'm not so sure. Anyone have any knowledge on this one?

The effect isn't extremely pronounced although it looks obvious enough to me. Look at the sides.

The IQ of the game just sets it apart though. I'm amazed how they've got it to look that smooth.

Everything else in Driveclub looks better so far, but the jaggy shadows are rather detracting.

It really looks amazing.
The biggest issue for me now is the aliasing. I hope there'll be some improvements in IQ for the final version. Maybe this facebook/youtube compression makes it worse than it is, but it's annoying for me in these videos.
That'd be more important than 60FPS.

Dude you can see the exact same thing in DriveClub...

Yet for you one has it and the other one doesn't...

And I'm not entirely convinced that's motion blur, seems to be just ghosting. Here you can see:

No motion blur what so ever.

Laser scanning 100s of miles of real road would be stupid, the game is most likely using satellite data like their WRC games.

EVOS NEED TO INTEGRATE GOOGLE MAPS IN DRIVECLUB SO WE CAN CREATE OUR OWN ROUTES.

GET IT SORTED RUSHY. YOU KNOW IT MAKES SENSE.
That's a great idea. I'd love to see how long it takes to get to my home from the train station in a Zonda ;)

Nice looking wheel, but no force feedback is a bit of a deal-breaker IMO.
Seems a bit strange. Have they announced a price for the wheel yet? I'm assuming that it's going to be a cheaper wheel than the G27 and T500 RS and both of those should be fine on the PS4.

The T500 RS is now the official Gran Turismo wheel, it's a bit strange that Sony license by game instead of just having an official PlayStation wheel. I understand that game branding can be important but I think it would be better to maybe have two levels of wheel but to just have them branded as PlayStation wheels.

I wish Evolution would sort out some 1080p videos with better quality compression for the Store. The more I see of this game the more I'm looking forward to downloading it but the videos they're publishing illustrate the game quite badly in comparison to some the better encoded third party videos that have been released.

Love the sense of speed in the game though.

This game has one of the worst chase-cam angles I have ever seen. It's so low that it's almost unusable.

Agree, chance cam is the what I usually use for arcade games and this needs to be fixed. Just add another one camera angle thats a bit further out and above Rushy.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage

That's ridiculous. Honestly, that turns this into a "not buying it" situation.

German MSRP is 100€. The ones you mentioned are in a completely different league.

Forza DOES seem like it has some motion blur but that could be also ghosting. Forza is 60fps so frameghosting would also look more "motion blur" like. DriveClub has no motionblur at this point, at least not while in gameplay.

So was there something announced about not having G27 support?
I'll be so devastated :(

I already know the game looks great but the compression in that new video sucks :/ Hope to get some proper footage soon. Also I agree that the chase cam does need to be higher up and give a better view of the road.

Also, does DC have point to point and what is the number of cars on track?

Point to point and circuits.

No idea on grid size but there's 12 cars per club, maybe 12 will be the size? You can't have a club cruise if you can't all participate.

Confirm Rushy.

And how about the environment setup, is it the same as WRC:

Can we move the barriers to make our own routes?

Ah that sort of makes sense then, maybe it's better to make sure the accuracy is there in the wheel and to not bother with force feedback than to keep it and have a lower quality wheel.

I'm not sure they've named the G27 specifically but I think they have confirmed that PS3 wheels are PS4 compatible? There shouldn't be any trouble with PS3 wheels even if there isn't a specific G27 configuration screen in the game as Sony like to use standard pretty hardware.

I'd be surprised if you weren't OK. :)

There's been no confirmation yet at all.

Cool. Yer also Evolution Patched in G27 support into MS:Apocalypse. So its not like they don't have the SDK...

The chase cam changes angle as you hit corners.

DC_chasecam.jpg

It looks like a deliberate design choice to have it lower on the straights.

I hate chase cam with a passion, and to me it actually looks playable on DC so I guess it's the opposite of what people want from chase cam. Wait and see if they change it.

I don't know why racing games don't just have fully adjustable chase camera height/distance options in the menu. Surely it wouldn't be too difficult to implement.
