As a longtime wineglass person I find the issue with that particular grip is that right-facing inputs are easier than left-facing ones due to how unnatural of a motion that is for the body.

Yes. Because of this I am much more proficient in the player 1 position.

This is true for me only with one motion and it's the 412364 motion or the half circle forward motion. Everything else is fine but if I have to do this more than often I choke and eat a huge punish.

I play with a wineglass grip but with the stick inbetween my middle and ring finger. For the most part I find playing on p2 side easier than p1, which is why in training mode I'm almost exclusively practicing on p1 side.

This is how I hold it. My inputs are terrible all around though. If I miss an input it's because of what it is, not because of the direction I'm doing it from.

I put the stick in between the middle and ring finger and then I put my thumb on top of the ball, forming a triangle. Bat tops and I do not agree.

I dunno how hard that would be for me. Especially on games that emphasize dashing.

It's not too bad with me even and I don't use stick primarily. Even with instant airdashes, but I do have to do a different hand movement depending on which direction I airdash in.

Do the characters that use IADs in a combo even need them to be instant. I know that Carl absolutely has to use an IAD, but Tsubaki's and Relius' combos that have them I've delayed it and still connected.

All the ones that I've used generally needed to be instant. I used to have Slayer BBU combo that I could either continue with a jump back>AD forward, or a delayed IAD, but I gave up on that since I kept forgetting the character-specific tendencies of it, and it stopped working in +R.

I'm holding the stick between my middle and ring finger. Typically with my palm facing upwards but sometimes I turn it sideways without noticing. My thumb is usually on top but I put it on the sides depending on what movements I'm doing.

The only things I've had trouble with so far are double QCF motions (especially in the air) and dashing when facing the left side of the screen. Since you need to be able to dash at a moment's notice and be able to change direction depending on enemy movement I'm still botching that completely at regular intervals but I'm getting better.

It probably doesn't help that I've been practicing combo's mainly from the player one position so it feels a bit awkward doing it from the other side.

Considering that I've been using this position for two days though I'm pleased at my progress with it.

I even beat a Tager online today!

At this rate I'll be more than ready for when the game hits.

Taokaka but for dash cancels. But I haven't used her in awhile, so I'm not sure how tight the link is.
I guess when I mean emphasis in dashing, I'm thinking of stuff like GG and VS. BB's buffer makes stuff like this not too bad.

I just can't imagine me doing I-No HCL FRC combos with a wineglass method. At least, not on the player 2 side.

Looks pretty solid so far. Just covers CT I assume?

The ED makes me think they might includes CS as well. I was hoping they'd just do CT Reconstruction for 12 eps. I'm not sure what they're doing with the anime so far. The pacing and the way certain scenes are handled is comparison to the game is kinda weird. I was a little sad when they didn't include the dine and dash part in the restaurant. Overall though, I kinda do like it, but that's not saying much since I watch any anime and my expectations were super low starting into this. As long as it's not as bad as BBCS cutscenes, I'm happy.

The art feels off. It's hard to describe, even though the animation is pretty decent, there's something about it.

Also that ED is a tease for me. I want playable Saya.

Come on, how can you possibly think this

is bad?

BBCS cutscenes were animated by Terumi to troll the players :p

After watching the first episode of the new Alter Memory I'm assuming they are going to be going through multiple loops before the true end. The inclusion of the CS characters in the end might mean that they are going to cover CS's story as well but we'll have to wait and see. The art style is a bit different from the games but I like it. Especially Noel's hair. The part with all the characters in the ending looked really good too.

I would always assume that combos requiring airdashes don't require IADs and are merely notated as such for easy readability. In fact you may try deliberately varying the timing to see what happens.

That's the funny thing with Carl, if you delay the IAD with some combos you'll get a cross up overhead which leads to a bigger combo. It obviously doesn't work with the insane DP characters :(

Wait, now I'm getting confused. At which point do you mean you can delay in Tsubaki's combo?
If you air dash too high up and do j.CC, it's hard to land in time and link that 5C.

Not sure if you mean that you're delaying the jump cancel after 2CC, or delaying the air dash after jumping for bit.

2 minutes into the anime. Already saw painfully obvious boob and ass shots. Ugh.

4 minutes into the anime.

We're done here.

Fan service shots and bad drawings? Sounds like it's very faithful to the game then. lol

I found the anime just really weird. Just going to watch it for the sake of watching it. Not even expecting much out of the rest of the episodes.
The first episode just tried to recreate scenes from the game's story mode so it didn't flow that well to me.

It felt choppy with that pace.

I really don't understand why so many people are hating the anime so much. At least you don't have to get game overs to watch it all...

The anime might be confusing to people that haven't played the game.

The pacing is kind of weird as well due to that. Maybe the coming episodes will be structured in a more consistent fashion? I know it's an adaption of the game but the way they are doing it now feels like it only really makes sense for people that have played the game.

Also I'm liking the changes for Noel in BBCP. Better mid-screen options for combo's, all drives are special cancel-able now and a few new moves as well. Of course the new outfit design is also a big plus. Just a couple more weeks!

They're not even good shots. They were clearly lazily drawn in to check the lowest denominator box.
So for someone who only has extend and has never played its story the anime won't make any sense to me?
I think the anime is supposed to cover all of CT's story. If I'm right, it would be perfect for you since extend then covers all of CS.

Well if you've played the story you'll understand how the scenes link together and why. I think as an anime it could use some more even pacing and exposition but that might be coming in future episodes.

Regardless of that I'd give it a watch even if I didn't already play through the story.

The anime pretty much did Ragna's story all in this episode, so don't worry. The game was naturally confusing until you played more characters.

TBH, I don't think the game explained what Seithr was until CS.

It's mainly just quality/budget issues for me. Usually the first eps has some real nice animation to draw in new audience. But here all we got is Jin's hilarious projectile and an incomplete Opening that reuses footage from the episode, not a good outlook for the rest of the season.

Plus there's quite a bit more good anime to watch than usual this season.

There's practically no one playing online in CSE which is understandable.

I hate how player match search is handled though. Pretty much all of them refuse to show the connection so I can't join.

Since BBCP has the brand new lobby system I hope they've made some improvements on the connection quality front.

Pretty much the reason why I stopped trying to learn Extend in anticipation for BBCP. Almost no one to play.

2 weeks is too far....

I still think it's good to hit training mode in Extend if you're not familiar with the series though.
A lot of stuff apply in both games anyway.

CT explains it in the Litchi shorts.

Honestly, the anime feels like a mess from the first episode, and we're possibly getting Extend's story too? It'll be rushed. Although props to them for making it clear it's a time loop right of the bat.

You could go play the story since you have time. It's really great, Aksys did a bang-up job on the localization. Shame you're gonna miss Calamity Trigger's amazing joke ends.

Ya, it's just disheartening to know that anything I practice execution wise won't be transferable to bbcp. I also only plan on playing the new bbcp characters. Specifically azrael, Izayoi, and Kagura.

Even if specific combo's don't transfer over, the proficiency you develop with the stick will carry over. Think of it as a warm up. As of last week I was completely useless in a real match with an arcade stick. With a bit of practice now I'm able to put up a decent fight. I'm going to play here and there just so that when BBCP finally arrives I won't be struggling with basic functions in the game and can just jump in to learning character combo's and stuff.

Also now is a good time to play the story if you've been putting it off. Despite how complicated it can sometimes be I really enjoyed it. Actually I think the complexity adds to it, wondering about the answers to the many questions that are raised over the course of the story (hopefully some will be answered in BBCP).

I've always been a stick user though :p

I would play it for the story, I just have no idea where to begin. Should I go straight into the story or go through those recaps with Kokonoe and stuff?
