Crazy that a rumor started by one person can spawn a thread with 5,000 replies and completely turn around GAF's opinion on the Xbox One, almost back to the DRM days. I guess most people on GAF secretly wanted an excuse to trash on the Xbox One again, and now they have it?
Its the exact opposite. He says that we should wait for activision to confirm (running in 1080p) and Penello indirectly confirmed the 720p thing by saying it will run on the resolution Activision sees fit. Big difference. And Yoshida is a master troll.
Former ArsTechnica gaming editor. Highly respected.
wow
so this is the pinnacle of console war. Impressive.
I'm not sure why Yoshida would have inside knowledge of COD's resolution.
For the most part it's one sided this time, so I wouldn't call it a war. It's more of a roast.wow

Sadly true.GAF isn't the only forum on the internet.

Which forums are you and he referring to then?
Yoshida did not claim he did not know, but rather that he would let Activision confirm it. There's a difference. Albert's main problem was trying to "run interference" by claiming ignorance. And yet people have called out AP for saying the same thing...
He's right. Most people won't care. Unfortunately, most people don't buy consoles in the first year, and the people who do, will care.
I think your mistake was "Hi NeoGAF. I hate NeoGAF."
It's just more tiresome hive-mind nonsense, as if all of the thousands of members think precisely the same way and you're more of an individual than we are.
Out of interest, have Activision ever confirmed a console game resolution? Or is it left to pixel counters to calculate it?
For the most part it's one sided this time, so I wouldn't call it a war. It's more of a roast.
And yet you said he gets it, which implies you do know what he's referring to, and agree. So, lets take another shot at it. What forum is he talking about?I'm referring to twitter. I have no idea what he's referring to but to argue that literally no one is saying that this is a game changer is an insincere argument to make when you couldn't possibly know the discussion going on in every single gaming message board.

Did you even read the OP dude? It's not just one guy.

I don't understand how these people get jobs covering the industry.
Of course the majority of people don't care about 1080p vs. 720p, that's too technical for most, but if the evolving narrative is "the PS4 version of the games look better" then that matters, especially when the games preform better on the cheaper system.
100% no. I used an exaggerated statement to get my point across. I'm totally fine with people discussing whatever they want to discuss. Why would it be wrong for me to state my opinion?
Like I said in an earlier post I think that this is the greatest forum for gaming and I'm merely surprised how much effort is being put to bashing on consoles, games etc by some. It's 100% fine though and I respect it.
Which makes me curious about the GPU and CPU differences in previous gens. If PS4 is 55% more powerful than XBone, what about the PS3 VS 360 and PS2 VS Xbox? For the most part it's one sided this time, so I wouldn't call it a war. It's more of a roast.
Ben Kuchera also thought very few consumers would care about Xbone policies
where are the power gap doubters now?
I remember people saying "identical" " just like 360 and PS3"
Now, that's evidence started to surface even before the consoles launch, and it's as big as 720p vs 1080p is some cases.
God have mercy on Xbone once devs started utilizing PS4 extra compute maximizing system bandwidth.
Because of Japan?
Rumor started by famousmortimerDid you even read my post? I said it was started by one person. It was "confirmed" by another -who talks in gibberish- later.
I love how the immediate damage control is "bu bu bu consumers won't care."
Yo Benny, guess what they do care about... price. PS4 is $100 cheaper and has better third party ports. That will make a difference.
Penned Kuchera ‏@BenKuchera
The internet is going to erupt about a resolution issue in a big game soon, and I"m going to call it now: Very few consumers will care.

It could.
It didn't for the GameCube (vs. PS2) though. Tired of using that example but, it fits when people keep on bringing up the point.
As long as there's enough interesting/appealing content people will want it.
As long as the devs have the balls for it. Wasn't the PS3 more powerful? However of course this time the ease of development is pretty par for both (Edge saying it's easier on PS4 than XBone).Yep, I think you'll find Sony are in the box seat for another PS2 style bloodbath, especially if they can achieve some sort of price cut within the first 3 years.

Ben Kuchera proving once again that he just does not get it. Just because people do not care does not mean it is not real or is not an actual issue.
I had to sleep so I've been out for 50 pages, since Penello came in.
Did I miss anything?
It could.

Exactly. Also, it can be looked at from another perspective. A lot of people might not be able to tell the difference between the two but if you say the ps4 version is better chances are they will claim they see a difference and go with the ps4 version.

But the N64 didn't have the support the PS1 enjoyed and the NGC didn't have the hype the PS2 did.
Not trying to be a troll but I literally just cancelled my Xbox One preorder.
Not trying to be a troll but I literally just cancelled my Xbox One preorder. I loved reading the news of microsoft making changes in favor of the consumer and wanted more reasons to get two consoles at launch. However this thread for me was the straw that broke the camels back. I will wait for a decrease in price and enjoy my ps4 in the meantime.
