RESOGUN |OT| It's about kicking ass, and voxels

This game looks like so much fun and will be probably be playing it first out of all the games on the 29th!

I know I'm going to be terrible at the game for a while just like I was at SSDHD but I'll get the hang of it.

Beat Veteran just now. Almost had a nearly perfect run on the final stage, but I tried to use an overdrive I didn't actually have :(.

Time to see what all the fuss with Master is!

Edit: This is going to be fun...

Edit2: Well at least I beat the first stage... My entire strategy changes now that the enemies spawn bullets upon death. 6.5 million for Master and that's good enough to be ranked #69, lol.

How do I make the voice over come ONLY through the speaker? It comes through both the TV and speaker, and it's annoying.

Also, NO STAT TRACKING?? :/

How much harder is Veteran than Experienced? I just beat Experienced, and fucking A it was hard. Especially the last boss (although magically on my final kill run, I did it without dying on the entire level, including the boss).

I might try on Veteran, but if the difficulty spike is large, then screw it.

Veteran is definitely a step up. More attack patterns, more bullets, and stronger enemies. Also, the bosses have the extra phase. I'm 1CCing veteran now but it's really tough to keep the multiplier going without risking a death and I can't grab all of the humans or resist using bombs on the last two levels.

Managed to improve my Master score to 96 million but I made some dumb mistakes that cost me 40+ million :(

Couldn't unlock Hero mode either, died right before the last boss again, it just gets too crazy by that point.

Trying really hard to get that one great run but it's very demanding. I'm sure I'll manage to pull it off eventually!

What the hell? Are you using some secret fourth ship that is permanently in Overdrive mode?

I really suck at this game. On my first four rounds on the second highest difficulty, I have not been able to beat the first boss. Having said that...it's great. Maybe if it weren't free on PS+, I might have waited until it it dropped it price, but it's a really fun game that brings me lots of flashbacks of Geometry Wars and Pacman CE DX.

Just completed Veteran on co-op with my brother, was an absolute blast! Felt like I couldn't even blink on that final boss haha.

What is this I hear about problems unlocking Master difficulty? It can only be done if you complete Veteran as a single player? :(

I beat it with Ferox the first time around on Rookie. Played all of Experienced with Nemesis but it didn't give me the trophy for beating the game with Nemesis. Anyone know what gives?

I've beaten the game on Experienced and Veteran, have all trophies but the ''Beat Arcade in one go'' and ''Complete the game with ____ ship''

No ship trophy has unlocked. I think it might be because my friend tried going to another mission with another ship it might reset the trophy and you'd have to beat all missions in order with one ship. Anyway, pretty stupid but oh well, it'll be quick to do on Rookie.

This game is hard and I'm terrible at it :( Don't know when to use overdrive and boost effectively. I find when I just tap boost, then try to use it again, it doesn't work. Is there a cooldown period?

So, my friend bought a PS4 out of the nowhere and I'm trying to convince him to buy this game. Interesting enough, searching for videos of the game to send to him is making me want to buy a PS4 only to play it, but I don't think this is going to happen now, but... oh well...

Loved Super Stardust, Resogun will probably be the first game I'll buy when I get a PS4 next year.
Owning any PlayStation product without PS+ is doing it wrong! (Even more so now that it's required for online)

Just got my first ever platinum trophy with this game, so frustrating but so fun.
Surprised at the amount of people with the platinum on this one, but at least it gives me hope!

Question: does saving all the humans on the final level require the multiplier to be higher than 5? I get the first 9 no problem, but the last one dies before I can really do anything. Do I need to bump it up from rookie to get the trophy?

Finally got to try this game out and it's fantastic! It's one of those "one more try" types of games that I just love.

I'm not sure if I understand how to play this game. The humans keep on dying even though I'm keeping the enemy ships away from them.

There is a wave of enemies with a green glow around them. You have to kill the wave to free the human. If any of the glowing ships escape, the human dies.

the keepers are the green glowing enemies you have to kill to release humans from their cages. then you pick up the humans with your ship and bring them to one of the beams with green arrows going upwards to rescue them.

Has this been posted? http://www.housemarqueblog.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=752#p752

Devs are going to post daily scoring tips. First two (about the keepers) are up.

You know what I love about this game and more specifically, the devs? They kinda threw this game out there, and let us all take a stab at it, and relied on us to play, figure it out, share tips with others and explore its depth together. Yeah there were a few playthru vids, like the one with Sess, but it wasn't until I played i myself did it make sense. That type of discovery in gameplay has not been felt by me in game for a long time. I'm really really enjoying this game.

Playing this game on master really reminds me of geometry wars 2. You really have to be be constantly moving and at times it's better to wait to shoot. There's a lot more space management going on.

This game is perfect. Right up there with geometry wars 2 and super stardust.

Beat the 4th stage on master this morning before work. Can't wait to get home, haha.

So hectic but that's why I love it. Hearing those voices speak to me through the controller is such a great feeling.

Kill the Keeper enemies in the correct order.
Have you noticed that starting from level 2 some Keepers appear in an ordered group?
There's a specific order in which you have to kill them. The first one is always marked with a green glow and a target, while the others are marked in red.
If you accidentally kill the wrong Keeper and break the kill order, the human from that group will be lost.

Wow I didn't realize this. I kept wondering why I lost a guy for seemingly no reason at times, I guess you gotta boost em

Wow, still has to feel good to be treading on uncharted land like that.

At least we know that whoever unlocks hero mode first will most likely have 'Joe' in their name.
I have no idea how to beat the very last part of the boss. I've gotten him down to 1/2 of the health of the last bar multiple times with no luck.

He's in the phase with the red circles for this. Usually I save up an overdrive and blast my way through this phase, but it's not enough. Even having an extra life to spare isn't enough.

I find the red circles phase to be the easiest. Keep moving backwards, shooting the opposite direction. Dodge the circles as much as you can, but if there's red circles behind you and you're going to hit it after he pops out, just do a short boost. Using this method you should always stay out of range of him. I actually use the exact same method for his vertical columns phase. Keep moving backwards, occasionally boosting.

He actually has another phase after that which is harder. For the next phase, you need to boost up right into the middle and get under him (he will have a little hump in his back which you can sit under) and blast him there.

I started using Nemesis, and all those rockets are handy, but damn are they distracting.

Argh! Almost 1CC'ed Master. Had the last boss down to 1/3rd. That run put me at 5th place with 41mil.

Time for a break then I'll be back on it.

Game is SO GOOD.

This helped a lot, thanks.

Beat the boss/stage on my first attempt today, pretty funny how sometimes taking a break makes things so much easier. Beating Master definitely doesn't unlock Hero difficulty.

Err.. Glad I could help. For some reason I thought you were playing an earlier difficulty level. I still am stuck on the last level of Veteran >.> I usually end up losing all my lives on the parts leading up to the boss, and the boss I don't have as much trouble with.

Platinum'd it last night. So much fun. Gonna play some other stuff for now, but I'll definitely be coming back to it from time to time. It's just so damn addictive!

It's kinda scary how good some of you guys are at this game. Teach me your ways.
Honestly though, wish I had more time to play this game and get really good at it. Damn you, work.

Veteran isn't too bad, just takes a lot of fine maneuvering. In Veteran you can use boost to your advantage pretty well in terms of taking out large groups of enemies.

Master is sooo hard to try and go through all the way:

I don't even know why I appear to be relatively good at this game, I have zero background in the genre or games of this type and I don't employ any strategy or anything really. I rely pretty much entirely on surveying the screen and my reaction time and ended up getting the platinum trophy and beating everything through master with the first 24 hours of the game being out.

It has kind of made me want to go back and explore some other games of the same type that I previously just never gave the time of day since I never really expected to enjoy something like this so much. I wouldn't really even know where to start though.

I'm not sure if I understand how to play this game. The humans keep on dying even though I'm keeping the enemy ships away from them.

The following is pretty helpful.

Humans in boxes are trapped. To free them, watch out of "keeper" enemies, which are regular enemies that glow. Destroy a set of them (almost always the same type of enemy, IIRC) whenever you hear the lady person say "Keeper Detected". If you destroy the enemies marked as Keepers, and a glowing streak of light will shoot toward its respective human box. That human then is freed and runs along the ground waiting for you to pick him/her/it up.

You HAVE to pick them up within a certain amount of time or they die. To pick them up you simply touch them. Then bring them over to their safe-zone beam thingy, those machines up at the top of the play area with a green beam pointing down that sometimes dispense power-ups. You can only pick up one human at a time. If you take too long to kill the "keeper" enemies the human will die. If the human is freed but runs around for too long a UFO-like enemy will appear above them and attempt to lift them via UFO-like tractor beam. The human dies if he/she/it gets captor by the UFO, but you can destroy it to save him.
