Better part: not even my real cousin. She's actually the daughter of the woman my actual cousin is dating.

Worst part: she's like 15.

If you wanna keep the magic I suggest you don't go anywhere unless it's this thread or a game's OT, GAF is a scary (read sad) place outside.

I think it's up to us to make this place a better place every time we post fellow GAFfer. As an example, I know I've written many posts that were right to the bottom of a page and many were ignored because a troll post was "stronger" and got more hate from others. As an example, I just made a post on the Xbox One thread couple of days ago to wish them all good luck, have fun, etc etc and then, right above said post an ex-GAFfer (banned) said he was hyped, happy that some PS4's are having problems and Killzone and Knack are not games. I mean... it added nothing to the discussion and only brought more pointless hate towards each other.

It's sad when I see those posts, it really is, but for every bad or sad post one makes, another good one can also happen, it's up to us. I mean... sometimes I feel I'm like Ned Flanders you know, from Simpsons and I almost loose my faith but then I remember that episode when he met a similar Flanders but on another Town and that gives me hope because I know there's plenty of great people in here. The others just don't know -yet- how lucky their are to be part of this Community and sometimes it takes a Ban for them to understand that, which is a shame. As for myself, I will never stop because I truly care about these fellow GAFfers that build this Community every day.

That's a urban lie, there are some fantastic threads outside of this one.

dat stealth tea ot
i exagerrated a bit in my post though, pretty much every thread about a gaming community is ok (OTs, consoles/console services threads)

other threads on the other hand are guaranteed to be shit 90% of the time

you're a much better person that i am for trying to deal with this crap
there's some all right people in this forum but sometimes when i browse a thread and three quarters of the answers are console/pc warriors flinging shit at each other i can't help but feel like this is gaf and all right people are just a minority

by the way, if you're as kind in real life as you are here then you must be like a fucking sunshine for your relatives

How does The Monk not have a tag yet?

You just come back in this thread and get some hope and restore your faith, then you can venture back out into the wilds. Or just look at your new computer and remember how awesome a certain section of GAF is ;)

Always shrug it off Monk, we have to remember that we share this hobby with some of the dumbest people on the planet.

I'd guess that P-A accidentally sold the same key twice the second person filed a used key ticket with Valve.

I hope so, and I hope they'll send me a new key. I'll report once the situation evolves. But have you ever heard of a similar situation at PA? Or is it just your intuition?

Now that's downright snobbish. I do not welcome such lines of thought, personally.

Probably just myself getting a bit frustrated lately, don't read too much into it.

I have been browsing various Reddit threads over the development of DayZ, and it has been ridiculous how much ignorance and vile that is expelled from people. I would almost think they weren't capable of rational thought or forward-thinking if I didn't know better.

GAF next-gen threads and r/gaming are other places to stay away from if you wish to have continued faith in humanity.

I hope in the re-release of Black Mesa they fix the aimbot soldiers. I mean, you can fix them by mucking around in the ini files, but it would be cool if they come fixed right out of the gate.

Also, contact the guy who did Surface Tension and On A Rail Extended and integrate his work into the game.

Lastly, HOLY SHIT BLACK MESA WILL BE RUNNING IN SOURCE 2
(or not)

Spot on, Grief. I've never understood why so many people, in the gaming world in particular, but on the internet (and possibly simply in 'life') thrive on, and seek, conflict and disharmony.

I'm a resident non-entity in this thread, in relative terms, but I'm very proud to consider myself a small part of SteamGAF.

Monk, you're a large reason for that - keep on spreading the gospel of politeness and courtesy... I think it can be just as infectious and inluential as the negative and abrasive behaviour commonly seen elsewhere on GAF.

(gosh, look at that - we'll need a new thread very soon)

So...anyone else get the new Adventure Time game? It lists local co op...shows screenshots of local co op...yet it appears there is no way to activate local co op... Is this a known issue and D3/ Wayforward screwed up or am I a crazy person?

WOW! I won The Wolf Among Us! Thanks a ton YianGaruga! I am super excited to try this one out, it is downloading now.

Gonna have to pay it forward soon, look out on American Turkey Day (aka Thanksgiving)

True enough, but I tend to be pretty accepting of it. If I had the internet when I was growing up in the sms/nes days I'd probably have been exactly the same. Sometimes you just need to remember how young a lot of the people on Gaf are.

Old and jaded PC gamers make just the right mix. Once your spirit has been completely crushed a few times you learn to just roll with things a lot more ;)

Honestly the internet is a big part of it. Say that you have a room and into it you dump 10 people who share some common interest (Video Games for the sake of example) and I'd say that most of the time you'd get some fun, friendly discussion. Maybe folks would even play a game or two. But take 5,000 people who share the same interest, dump them on the internet and you pretty much always get a much worse result. Too much trolling, too much dogpiling on opinions out of the majority, too much snark, too many posters looking to make jokes for the audience instead of discussing. It all just gets worse when you add more people and remove the face to face connection. Don't get me wrong, GAF does a good job moderating and I enjoy the discussion here, but it's just a bit of the nature of the beast to some degree.

This is true.
I read the Steam thread everyday, and have done for about 2 years, and although I hardly ever post, this has become my calm home of peaceful sanity.
I wish I could join in, but rarely have the time.

(I am not stalking you guys, honest, I am just quiet.)

I think people need to play more games. If one discusses games without playing them, without having new experiences, one is not so much discussing games as they are expressing/defending opinions. You can't play an opinion.

Anyway, speaking of negativity and games people don't play:
Sometimes all you need is a little love a healthy understanding of trade and logistics, and a large, well-trained navy.

OK, I decided not to wait to pay it forward from my earlier Modbot win . Here's your chance to win a game before it is released. Thanks again Steam thread and GAF for being such a welcoming community, hope you enjoy it!

Awesome! :D I'm going to have do this too during the Winter Sale since you guys provided me with tons of games when I've been broke these past few months.

Not even interested myself, but looks like an awesome giveaway. :)

Did Deadly Premonition always have controller support? I swear I looked at the steam page for it when it first released and it didn't have controller support before.

If it always did have it and it works well, then I'll definitely purchase it in December.

Anyone used controller on it yet?

Controller support has been broken since release and they're working on patching it atm.
