"A Streetcar Named Marge" is the best Simpson's episode ever

Hail, peons, for I have come as ambassador from the great and bountiful Blueberry Butt Explosion
I always thought the singing took away from otherwise fantastic Simpsons episodes.

Then again, I hate musicals.

I don't know about best Simpsons episode ever but A Fish Called Selma is way up there for me if only because of the Planet of the Apes: The Musical bit. So amazing.

One of my favourite episodes is definitely Itchy and Scratchy vs Marge. When all the kids come out to play because Marge caused Itchy and Scratchy to become really lame and they play Beethoven's 6th symphony. That was the first time I heard that piece of music and it's still one of my favourite classical pieces to this day.

Damn, NO mentions of Itchy and Scratchy Land?!

Bart: Mom, guess what!
Lisa Simpson: We're going to Itchy & Scratchy Land!
Marge: No. I've already planned our vacation for this year. We're going to the Highway 9 Bird Sanctuary. I understand they've installed a new bird feeder this year.
[Bart and Lisa stare, horrified]
Marge: It's shaped like a diner! And it's on this really tall pole.

Also, the bit with Bort license plates gets me every time lol. Sideshow Bob Roberts is another really underrated one.

The best episode is either one of those great Halloween episodes or Homer vs the 18th Amendment or that one with Scorpio.
I also like "the leader" episode, Cape Fear and Itchy n Scratchy Land.

Also, treehouse of horror episodes (season 2-10) , the scorpio episode, the movementariuns episode (i must have screwed up that spelling!) , simpson tide, lemon of troy, xfiles episode and the stonecutters episode are top tier shit!

what's the episode that ends with homer eating cheese doodles and watching bowling (i think) during the credits? for some reason i love that scene.

“My mother the actress! I feel like Lucie Arnaz Luckinbill.” - Lisa

I never quite got this joke. Are we supposed to laugh at Lucille Ball being Lisa's idea of a great dramatic actress?

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
In retrospect, Seasons 6 could very well be the best season of The Simpsons.

It's where he thinks he's going to die and finds out he's ok and vows to really start living his life. Cut to that credits scene.

I'm sure it's been mentioned in this thread, but Marge vs the Monorail is pretty damn close to the top for me. Every little joke is just so on point from beginning to end.

You Only Move Twice and Lisa's Rival are the funniest for me.

I also love the one where mayor quimby's nephew gets charged, skinner crossing the broken bridge gets me every time.

Also the 'alien' reference where santas little helper is in the vents and willy is after him

Love this episode. Has that awesome combo of jokes:
Bart reading Skinner's thoughts: I know you can read my thoughts, Bart. And when I find you've been cutting class, your ass is mine. That's right. I think words I never say.
Bart reading Homer's thoughs: I know you can read my thoughts, boy. Meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow

My favorites are probably Cape Feare (the sequence where Sideshow Bob clings to the bottom of the car is hilarious), Treehouse of Horror IV (for The Devil and Homer Simpson), and A Fish Called Selma (because of the Planet of the Apes musical).

Cape Feare:

Fantastic episode, in my top 10, but Lisa's Substitute is my favourite.

Good Marge and Lisa episodes are hard to do, and there aren't a whole heap of them, but when they pull it off it's really special.

also Season 2 is the secret best season

This one of the best episodes, but I really love The Itchy & Scratchy Land episode and the one where Homer eats the really hot chili and he meets Johnny Cash as a fox

Actually, I love almost every single episode of The Simpsons from Seasons 3 to around 8

That is my least favorite episode. My top are Mr. Plow and Valentines day where Lisa destroys Ralph. I always look forward to the treehouse horror episodes but lately they sucked!

LAST EXIT TO SPRINGFIELD is probably my favorite. It really has everything - Godfather parody/homage, Beatles' psychedelia, Big Book of British Smiles, Batman reference, Arnold Schwarzenegger Action Movie parody, the Grinch, monkeys writing the greatest novel ever, DENTAL PLAN/LISA NEEDS BRACES, punching Lenny in the back of the head, and also a funny yet poignant piece of social criticism regarding the nature of unbridled capitalism and the corruption of unions. It's amazing.

El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer.

You wouldn't believe how happy I was when I realized that the Simpsons Movie was basically that episode extended out to 90 minutes. Always wondered why Marge went OOC and bitched Homer out in the episode though, when he's done far worse in the series

Marge on the Lamb is my favorite episode ever.

And the treehouse of horror with the time machine toaster.

They are the best.

I think my favorite is either Homer goes to College, or The Springfield Files.

I used to have the entire first act memorized word for word. Right through to Homer spelling Yeah! in the wheat field.
