The LEGO Group Announces Partnership With Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products To Launch LEGO® And THE SIMPSONS Branded Merchandise

Construction Set and Minifigure Series Based on the Popular Show Available Beginning February 2014

Products To Coincide With LEGO-Themed Simpsons Episode, Airing May 2014 on FOX

BILLUND, Denmark, Jan. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — The LEGO Group today announced a new partnership with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products to produce a construction set and licensed LEGO® minifigures inspired by the iconic television series, THE SIMPSONS. In addition, FOX is scheduled to air a special LEGO episode of THE SIMPSONS in May 2014 featuring Springfield and its cast of characters in LEGO form.

Scheduled to launch this February in LEGO stores and via the LEGO Shop at Home catalog and website, the construction set will recreate the iconic Simpsons family house in LEGO form. Also included in the LEGO and THE SIMPSONS construction set is the entire family: Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie along with neighbor Ned Flanders. A separate line of 16 LEGO THE SIMPSONS minifigures will launch in all mass toy retailers in May 2014.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Fox during the 25th anniversary year of the Simpsons,” said Jill Wilfert, vice president licensing & entertainment at The LEGO Group. “We know our fans will love the challenge of building the Simpsons’ family home in great detail and the ability to collect quintessential characters in LEGO minifigure form will let them showcase their love of the show in a whole new way. We are also excited that THE SIMPSONS will be created in LEGO form, truly bringing this partnership to life.”

“We are kicking off the 25th anniversary of THE SIMPSONS in a big way, and we think LEGO-loving fans of the show will be impressed with this collaboration that represents the best of both iconic worlds through the LEGO and THE SIMPSONS construction set, minifigures and LEGO-themed episode,” said Jeffrey Godsick, president of Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products. “Our partnership with LEGO is the perfect addition to the range of product lines that will be introduced globally in celebration of this great milestone achievement in television history.”

Created by Matt Groening, THE SIMPSONS is the longest-running scripted show in TV history. Since premiering in December 1989, the series has become a cultural phenomenon, recognizable throughout the world. The show was named the “Best Show of the 20th Century” by Time Magazine, has won 28 Emmys and its theatrical short, “The Longest Daycare,” was nominated for a 2012 Oscar.

The LEGO THE SIMPSONS house will be available February 1st in LEGO retail outlets for $199.99 (USD). The line of LEGO THE SIMPSONS minfigures will launch in May 2014 in all major toy retailers for $3.99 (USD) each.

I'm going to buy this set, lovingly put it together, and then put a video of myself on YouTube stomping the shit out of it for hours so someone at Fox takes notice and offers me a job on the writing staff.

Will buy :) So glad they hit that $200 price point and not higher. They did a great job and the minifigs are quite good.

So Lisa doesn't have her sax, and her and Bart have those rubbish Yoda legs too?
Bart's not on a skateboard, it's more of a grim trolley that's the only way Homer and Marge can move him to places.

Wow cool cutaway of the Simpsons house above. Well, if nothing else, this set is an excellent starting point if you want to build your own perfectly accurate Simpsons house with LEGO. Will be a lot of fun watching as people customize it and expand on it in their own way via MOCs. Not sure if I'll be making a project of doing that or not but it's very tempting. I'll be happy just to own this one. And probably a lot of the other smaller sets + collectible minifigs

Seriously, for a licensed set this is a steal at $200. If you have it in your budget, get one! Will make the ultimate display piece for any Simpsons fan.

But in 8 years, the Simpsons Lego set will easily be worth over 1k and the 360 will be worth $40 on a trade-in for a used game!

Easily over 1k? If you really believed this you'd be emptying your bank account. It's only going to be worth as much as somebody is willing to pay for it and I doubt this will be as desirable with how fucked up the characters look.

There's so thing that just looks off about it all. Something missing. Some charm. I dont know. And the character model expressions are horrid.

I think if this was out 15-20 years ago when the Simpsons were relevant, I would probably buy it regardless of the terrible figs. But in 2014.. nope.

Yeah it all looks weirdly soulless, probably due in large part to the really weird minifigs.

I like the idea but I doubt I'd buy this. My money would be better spent on the modular lineup.

sorry, but it's true!

these larger LEGO sets already have a low price-per-piece ratio. they don't get discounted much, sometimes never. apparently lego has a no-discount rule on its modular building sets (possibly other sets, I don't know all the details).

I think it's whenever they do 'special' LEGO characters. LEGOs should have two dots for eyes and a smiley face. Whenever they try to give them 'real' eyes or different faces it just looks like some off-brand knock off.

All that said still totally tempted to get it. Was after some LEGO to waste all my monies on. Haven't really done that since getting a massive Yoda kit.

Those character designs are terrible. What is with the eyes?

Quick photoshop improvement ..

Yeah, Maggie and Flanders look OK for the style they're going for, but I don't get why they went with the squinty eyes for the rest of them.

The only thing I can think of is that they'll have future sets that come with different face expressions and body types.

To me Lisa's expression is the worst one. If I was to get the set I'd get rid of the characters and only display the house.
