I just checked the price for the physical PC version in Romania, it's 34 euro... Why in hell is it so expensive on Steam?

I've never heard of the European tier 1/tier 2 before although I can understand it in principal, but why the hell is there an image of the Italian flag there next to tier 2? Surely they're not suggesting that Italy is a small country, low-income economy?!

Italy is the biggest country in tier 2

Looks like you have to be a rich EU member state to be in EU1, why Norway is EU2...

EDIT: Does not explain Switzerland tho who arent in the EU either but are in Steams EU1

ps3ud0 8)
"EU" in this case means the geographical continent of Europe and has nothing to do with the political entity of the European Union.

Because the Steam version can be bought by people outside of Romania (and from richer countries) with a proxy, while the retail version is a bit harder to do the same.

How is the VAT in those countries? I know here in italy it's 22%, maybe that's the reason for the price hike.

Standard VAT in Romania is 24%.

Ah, so that's why. I wouldn't have guessed it but it makes perfect sense.

23% in Poland.

actually - 99.9% of the time EU1 and EU2 prices are the same ... there are only a few games that are cheaper in EU2 (Talos Principle comes to mind)
This. Its almost never cheaper.

You can buy it digitally via proxy in Polish store for 35E

Steam prices are bonkers for us.

For you.
This is kind of baffling tbh. Some of those Region 2 countries aren't even "poor." Norway in particular is fuckin' ballin'.
That list is incorrect. Norway has its own region on Steam and its actually cheaper than both Europe regional, which makes no sense.

But Norway aside, who at WB thought that it was a good idea to change the price in EU2? Refunds happening everywhere, right?

Terrible port job? Raise the price to get the most out of gullible fools
Hi. I'm one of these. Don't take it bad like last time ok?

Lol at Spain and Italy being there but Andorra being in EU1.

I have never seen a game cheaper here than in germany/france for example on steam. But yes, now spain has it for 55 euros.
Warner Bros is doing a great job in all this for people to hate them even more, even if this is just a coincidence.

So countries with lower average income get rewarded with more expensive games? It's like Steam sending a message to the gamers of those countries not to bother with gaming.
I wonder how Russia and India are the only countries treated right when it comes to this, maybe because they are huge population wise.

lol

BTW, I live in EU2 zone, and Arkham City was unavailable on Steam for us until the arrival of GOTY edition.

Yeah sure, let's pay more in countries that have less income for a game that's broken.

There's no pirated version of the game out (yet), due to it's intrusive Denuvo DRM (that might also be the reason for the poor performance).

Why not take advantage of that fact and sell it for less? If piracy is indeed the issue here.

In Poland it's effectively crazier, not simply more expensive. I checked the major PC outlets and all of them offer the Batman Steam key box for less than equivalent of 40€, plus shipping. If you decide to skip the box, you pay more. Keep in mind this is not a case of retailers trying to get rid of the box, this happens at launch.

On the other hand exact policy differs depending on publisher. EA occasionally seems to give us an unadvertised 30% cut on PC Origin games. So there's that.

Somebody take that spade off of WB, they are so far down that hole that they won't just stop digging themselves into.
