Yes. This is what I'm hoping for.Would it be possible for Nintendo to Publish MH:XX for the West?

Yup. When I first played Tri I immediately wanted to play Portable 3rd nextOf course it would be a good thing. A Switch owner could play XX, fall in love with the series, then buy World next year on one of the other platforms. Brand synergy.
But you know, Capcom.

Reactions about MH World are very good all around
Monster Hunter World seems pretty great.
Are there people who are upset? Sure. But there's people who are upset about Metroid: Samus Returns despite that game being one of the biggest positive surprises of the show.
MvC though... woof. The reveal of DBZ:F just kinda cements how lame of a game it is.
OP coming with the agenda because Capcom did not please them. MHW is one of the games getting the most buzz out of this E3. Japanese reaction is positive as well.
They want to avoid MHXX siphoning interest from MHW as MHW is a major investment that is nigh-guaranteed to see >50% decline in its home market. That has to be made up in RotW.
Yes. This is what I'm hoping for.
Wouldent selling MH on all platforms be a good thing dispite MHW and MH:XX being different titles? One that brings the power of Current Gen Hardware and the other being made just for The Switch/3DS?
This exactly emphasizes why Capcom is a fucking stupid company. Deny fans of your franchise a game they want that is going to sell well to push a version on that subset that will undoubtebly decline no matter what you do.
Makes perfect sense
Should've shown some REmake 2 instead.

Yeah, like MH fans aren't accostumed to the series changing platform in a regular basis.
Now you understand how PSP users felt
I doubt things are that bad, but we know that Street Fighter 5 was a big blow for them. And probably what Capcom is hoping for too. They really have been begging/getting help money wise from other companies lately. Capcom must be 1 or 2 major bombs from going under or something
Deep Down is the only game of theirs I cared about, but it was MIA again. Some communication about its status might be nice.
MvCI is competing with that.
MHXX cannibalizing/siphoning interest from MHW would be bad for Capcom from the perspective of: "This is our title we made to break out in the west with a more palatable presentation, budget, etc." If you have MHXX potentially resulting in people picking that up instead and being content, then you run a risk of "who was this for" for MHW.
MHW is a project that got caught by change in market and time. When it was greenlit, years ago now circa 2013-2014, the market in Japan was at a weird impasse. The PS4 was coming, 3DS *looked* like it may start winding down by the time the project would finish (few would predict that the 3DS would keep chugging along to 23 million and alive in 2017 in Japan and RotW), and the WiiU was all but dead already.
They hedged local bets on PS4 and it wasn't in their control that the PS4 would release and then immediately falter in its local market with little competition. Market realities set in, the PS4's prospects are what they are, and it was far too late to change direction. So they pivoted to the west because that was where the market for consoles was actually healthy. (Given the time tables, fittingly enough, this was likely also greenlit before the handheld 'surge' for MH4U/MHX in the west was realized, so... ya.)
So they are now focused on making MHW the big thing for the west and they need their investment justified. MHXX, for them, is seen as a potential muddling of the message or internal competition.
MvCI is competing with that.
Why wouldn't they have a rough time lol?
MvC had no thunder to begin with. It looks bad. I'm not even a huge fan of the series but I've enjoyed it and it looks bad. That art style is rough and to me 2/3 both were beautiful games. The game just feels uninspired, just like SF V.
MHXX not making it west is probably a decision that Capcom came to after much deliberation. I think they'd localize the title if it in turn made more money for them than the costs of localizing it. Maybe they'll bring it over following MHW release.
How would it cannibalize it? If someone had both a 3DS/Switch and PS4 they would get the PS4 version with it looking the best. Or if they were big enough MH fan buy both. Only way it would cannibalize it if someone had both PS4 3DS/Switch and only got it for the Nintendo products.
I'm actually excited for World, but the way they're handling XX is very disappointing considering World would probably not even exist if not for handheld consumers.
Well luckily for them MVCi is somewhat close to releasing. DragonBall is sometime next year.
MvC rightfully getting slammed. It doesn't play as well as the last entry, has a limp roster and is visually disgusting. It was either delay it a very long time or just do the best with the little they've got and Capcom chose the latter.
MHXX not being localized is also a fair criticism. The localization is mostly done. The established fan base is on Nintendo. It feels like they abandoned that direction in favor of MHW when they could've followed both, easily.
MHW isn't exactly a negative reaction, but it's fair to be skeptical. Visually it's a little behind the times. Gameplay was questionable for a while but seems most fears are quelled. Also it's up in the air whether the game will click with the AAA loving console mainstream like Capcom wants. I have trouble seeing it doing more than the usual core million or so Western fans.
They brought it on themselves.
