This is unacceptable for both ps4 and switch. :/
What?It can look great and look blurry at the same time, you know.
I think they mean the little difference between the PS4 and Switch versions.
If a game that runs at 1536 x 864 on PS4 only takes a hit to 1200 x 675 docked, and maintaining the same framerate, that sets a really good precedent for how UE4 games that are 1080p on PS4 might end up looking on Switch.
IF the PS4 version was 1080p and the Switch version was still 1200x675, the gap between versions would be higher and much more worrying.
If it looks great, why are people saying it looks blurry?
So basically a better looking Wii U gamepad game? Really surprising how well it keeps up with the PS4 here tbh, obviously there is changes to the graphical settings highlighted in the video, so pure pixel pushing isn't very clean here, but:
Playstation 4 1,327,104 pixels (100% base resolution)
Switch docked 810,000 pixels (61% of base resolution)
Switch undocked 400,900 pixels (30% of base resolution)
Since the graphics are not a 1:1 representation, these numbers are only interesting as an end result, Switch in UE4 seems to be holding up well vs PS4, less than 61% obviously, but possibly somewhere between 40% and 50% of the performance sumo digital was able to erk out.
Also, just based on the pixels being pushed, I'd venture to guess that the portable is pushing 384mhz (it's top clock) so don't expect an increase in resolution unless all platforms get one, however if you are/were a Wii U owner, this should look much better than the compressed image you saw on your gamepad, these are devices have the same size screen and only a 480p resolution for Wii U, this switch game is also pushing AA and isn't streaming from another device which should all mean a clearer image.
Eurogamer even says it looks crisp. I'll judge by myself. Not sure but I don't think it does and Digital Foundry didn't say it did either.
They better patch the switch version. I played it undocked and now regret buying it without reading impressions first
I'm sorry, but you have absolutely no way of knowing that..So basically a better looking Wii U gamepad game? Really surprising how well it keeps up with the PS4 here tbh, obviously there is changes to the graphical settings highlighted in the video, so pure pixel pushing isn't very clean here, but:

PS4 vs docked Switch seems pretty similar. I hope they can fix some of the framepacing issues on Switch, but otherwise I think it's about as close as you can hope, given the hardware.
But that undocked Switch resolution...yeesh.
Keep in mind that we don't know the framerate that the Switch would get if unlocked. To be fair, the resolution isn't the only difference between Switch/PS4 and the latter ran at 45-50fps before they locked it @30
Still, the Switch version looks more than fine to me and if I had one, I would have chosen it over the PC version
I could totally see myself playing this in my bed
What?
No it can't.
Blurry games don't look great.
And congrats to them for that, and I love the game, but "rush it the fuck out in two months with sub-SD resolution and performance issues" is not an example to follow.
We should stop using resolution numbers and start measuring graphics in grass.Damn, none of y'all even mentioned Switch version has better grass.
It's all about that grass, yo. Zelda has grass. Snek gaem has grass. Switch was made for grass. I love grass.

I'm not touching this, it's 2017, why the fuck are games not running at native resolution... the switch in handheld mode 720p is mandatory or what is the point in having a nice screen?!
Jesus turn down the effects and push native, it's not like this game is something pushing the boundaries of the hardware, sub native on PS4 too?!
Fuck that...
If you think blurry games can't look great then I don't know how you got through gaming until the 7th genWhat?

Switch 60% of PS4 power CONFIRMED! XD

There's plenty of games of PS4 that run on UE4 at 1080p or 900p 60fps. There's not excuse for this kind of game.
People love dramas. If it looks great, why are people saying it looks blurry?

They shouldn't have to turn down any effects in this game to get to native res on either platform lol. This is just absurd.
You're missing out on a great game because it doesn't hit a number. DF even says the solution they used looks great.
It's a game from a small team that just pulled off a four-platform release on the same day, which included a virtual last minute port to a brand new system that was cranked out in a few weeks. It is absolutely disingenuous to compare this to games from Capcom, Bamco, Square-Enix and Epic, who have vastly more resources available and are working with even less platforms for their respective titles.
I know right? Developing games is so easy lol. Fucking lazy devsThey shouldn't have to turn down any effects in this game to get to native res on either platform lol. This is just absurd.

So is the undocked version native grass or not?
Jeez, there really was none of this outrage before people knew the actual numbers.
Like DF said, heavy TAA can make a low resolution image actually look better than a high resolution image without it. DF people typically know what they're talking about.

Let folks be outraged and folks like us can enjoy the delight that is Snake Pass.
Don't worry much about it, people love numbers, just think of all the speculation thread talk, they know what 1080p, 900p and 720p means, they don't have a damn clue in general about anything else, but hearing sub native is nuclear, especially 30fps.

Anyway, the difference in tone between the previous thread (where people who played the game loved how it looked, thought it was 1080p, 45-50fps) and this thread is astounding. Why is everybody letting numbers dictate their satisfaction with a game?
And others are saying it's bad news.Game is running sub 540p on the Switch yet people saying it's good news.
