The first issue of Nintendo Power predates Donkey Kong Country by six years.
I am well aware of this, I just considered if King K. Rool could have been a reference to him.
To be honest I also didn't remember Wart (never liked SMB2).

I wonder if Rob and George were called back for the final issue. :lol Were they even remembered?

What I read is it's going to be on newstands by December 11th.Just checked my local Barnes & Noble, and they only had the November issue. I assumed it would be on news stands by now.... Might check Walmart.
Just saw the final Nester comic and it bummed me out real hard.
Picked up the issue at Wal-mart today, Barnes and Noble didn't have it yet.
Good issue, I'm glad to be able to keep it with my issue 1 with my NES collection.
Just saw the SPOILER and it bummed me out real hard.
We asked George to contribute to the "Power Players" article, but he politely declined.
Rob and George who? (just wondering how they were related)
I still miss the Nintendo comics they did. The LttP one was fucking epic.

That was all Bill Mudron. The dude is hardcore! Some insane NP references in his room, too.
Still haven't gotten my issue but read the comic on Tiny Cartridge (somewhat against my will). Not ashamed to say I lost it atThat was all Bill Mudron. The dude is hardcore!
Was it like this?
IIRC that's not a real comic right? Or at least, the text is different?

I was more of a Club Nintendo fan, but this makes me very sad anyway. (Yes, the magazine, I'm guessing they didn't had such a nice ending to their run).
This is from the first page, but I have to say it, just called it? I have a big hunch they were inspired by your post, I remember reading it and saying "well, if they don't do that cover anything else will be inferior".
Actually, we were inspired by the fact that it was really kinda-sorta the most obvious thing to do.This is from the first page, but I have to say it, just called it? Every gamer I knew was using gamefaqs in 1997. The first big thing I can remember that everyone was using it for was the FF7 chocobo breeding guide. Maybe Australia got the internet later than the US?

I recall conversations in the office from several months ago that were something along the lines of, "Boy, if they're ever foolish enough to shut down the magazine, we totally have to do a clay cover homage to the first issue."
