Super hyped! Also, no one else liked Meet The Robinsons? I haven't seen it mentioned yet in this thread. Thought it was amazing.

Sounds great.

It really seems like Disney Animation Studio has replaced Pixar as top dog in the animation world. Zootopia and this both in the same year, pretty damn impressive.

It isn't perfect by any means but it is still very enjoyable with a great twist at the end. Plus the T-rex has the most adorable joke in the movie. Definitely worth a watch if you wanted to go though Disney's catalogue. It was a nice preview to Disney before it entered its second golden age.

Can't wait to see this tomorrow.

Every showing of this I can find near me has the movie dubbed and in 3D.

I hope the second cinema that's a little bit further away will post their dates soon and on at least one of those dates they will show the real version.

Looking forward to this!!

I thought Tangled was great and lush, and I don't know if these songs in Moana are really my fave style, but maybe it all pulls together really nicely in action!

Soundtrack:

1. Tulou Tagaloa. WOW!
2. An Innocent Warrior. WOW!
3. Where You Are.
4. How Far I'll Go.
5. We Know The Way. WOW!
6. How Far I'll Go (Reprise)
7. You're Welcome. WOW!
8. Shiny.
9. Logo Te Pate. WOW!
10. I Am Moana. WOW!
11. Know Who You Are.
12. We Know The Way (Finale)
13. How Far I'll Go (Credits)

The soundtrack is really solid. Not one song is weak. Catchy, upbeat, epic and emotional! It's got it all! I've already got most of them stuck in my head!
I just found the album in spotify but it's called Vaiana (I'm in Sweden). They have recorded the songs with the name Vaiana, does that mean that there will be two official English dubs for the movie? I can't begin to understand why they would go through all that pain and not just choose a canonical name that works everywhere :s

99%

74 fresh. 1 rotten.

Critic Consensus: With a title character as three-dimensional as its lush animation and a story that adds fresh depth to Disney's time-tested formula, Moana is truly a family-friendly adventure for the ages.

Soundtrack is amazing. Lin Manuel Miranda definitely delivered. It's gonna be interesting who gets that Oscar.. Moana or La La Land

How Far I'll Go >> Let it Go

Do Disney and Pixar use different animators? The one thing Pixar has over Disney these days is the animation quality. Considering Disney owns Pixar, is Pixar still their own separate thing?

Yes, Pixar and Walt Disney Animation are run as separate studios within the same umbrella, so the creative personnel are all different.

Right?!
Even the songs that were good on the soundtrack are fantastic in the film.

Also, sit through the credits.

I know! I'm gonna wear out the soundtrack this week lol.

And I wholeheartedly echo your advice to sit through the credits.

Might check it out if the music is better than frozen

I'm lukewarm on the music from Frozen. Do You Want To Build A Snowman is fantastic, and Frozen Heart is solid, but I could take or leave the others. Except for Fixer Upper. I'd definitely leave that one. Moana has, to me, three flat out amazing musical sequences: Where You Are, We Know The Way, and I Am Moana. The visuals, story, and music come together particularly beautifully for those three songs. Disney posted the soundtrack to their YouTube page so you can check the songs out. Tricky Shadow posted links to a bunch of songs a couple posts up.

I believe Pixar is still separate from Disney. The Brain Trust at Pixar and the Story Team at Disney will consult on each other's movies, but I think that's the only major crossover. The animation in Moana is incredible by the way. Probably the best I've ever seen.

Just wait until you see "I Am Moana" in the movie. Good lord.

Just listening to the audio of it gives me goosebumps. I know when it's sung in the movie, and a few people who have already seen the movie told me they were holding back tears when the song kicked in.

I think it's probably the strongest song of the whole soundtrack. Emotional and epic! It's fantastic!

???

To me visually Moana looks better than anything Pixar has done.

I know right?! It's AMAZING! The last 20 seconds of the song gives off total Lion King vibes!

Good to hear!
I really really hope we are getting aladdin and hercules level of amazing catchy music and musical numbers.
As much as i liked frozen and tangled, the music was not on par with me with the 2nd golden era movies and other clemens and musker classics.

Yeah, i prefer to hear a disney musical first in the movie, not the ost. You lose a lot of charm by doing that. Visulas can make some of the music also great.

Only want to know if theres some echanted tiki room reference or parody in the movie. Also is there even a charismatic villain, from the reviews it seems theres really non.

I absolutely loved the movie but thought the songs very pretty forgettable to be honest. Except of "We Know The Way". That one was amazing.
