The only thing wrong with the first post is that it focused on one specific issue of an overarching problem.

Konami. Period perhaps, but specifically how they handled Kojima and his projects. But really it sounds like it was just a problematic company where everything finally came to a head.

EDIT: And if we have a runner up: Play Asia's string of tweets. I guess it's just symptomatic of the GG mentality, but seeing an online retailer act that way over vague, disowned statements is kind of embarrassing.

However, I'll toss a secondary vote out to Nintendo's intentional and manufactured supply constraint situations. Whether it's Amiibos or special edition releases of their games or their virtual console digital drip feed to the way they gate content in their inaugural mobile efforts... I'm beyond tired of it at this point. Just let me buy the thing or play the game without jumping through countless hoops.

Konami and the Payday 2 Fiasco are the top #1's for me. I know that's breaking voting rules, but I can't choose over either honestly.

Overkill, the developers of Payday 2 have a history of tone-deafness when it comes to their community ("PD2NotWorkingOnConsolesI'dBuyTheFuckingPCVersion".jpg) along with nickle-and-diming (see: Steam store with all the DLC) THEN throws a microtransaction store/Pay2Day: Global Fortress 2 store in during a supposed to be FREE FOR EVERYONE event during the first day. Major failure. Along with the rest of the "free" stuff being quality of life stuff that should've been there two years ago (jumping animations and the like).

Konami basically imploding in on itself to get out of the game industry to do Casino stuff. Treating Kojima like dirt, doing him dirty (letting him make a studio in LA only to tell him "no, fuck off. Oh by the way? That office? We're selling it and firing everyone you hired there."), treating him like shit (the Awards fiasco a week ago) and general assyness toward their fanbase (F.O.B. insurance, F.O.B.'s supposed to be "optional" "Psyche, we were kidding. *trollface*") and holding IP's hostage (Silent Hill, Castlevania, et. al.)

Both are equally failures of the year as far as I'm concerned.
