I just wanna say I like the designs on all these bodyguards right now.
They don't really stand out as side characters, but their appearance is more unique than your usual throwaway fodder.

Yeah that's a ton of progress from Kurapika. Not nearly as bad of a situation as last chapter.

I know Benjamin's bodyguards were all really strong nen fighters but I didn't think they would be skilled enough to use such big En too, definitely not fodder Kurapika can brush aside if he fought seriously

Is En directly proportional to one's combat strenght though? Maybe that's just his speciality.

That's not what I mean, having good En range has always been presented as a highly advanced technique only the higher tier nen users can do (as opposed to your average hunter). It's like any other nen proficiency skill. I really don't think it would be his specialty in this case, an En specialty would probably be something like Zeno (in terms of range) or Nobunaga (in terms of usage).

I don't think Hisoka ever showed off a big En yet he's strong as heck, so it doesn't work as a negative but it does work as a positive.

The biggest bit of info in the chapter is absolutely Kurapika's intent to teach the princes Nen. That's an enormous game changer.

Benjamin will obviously reject, he already knows Nen.
Camilla will reject because she's too cocky.
Zhang Lei will accept.
If Tserriednich accepts, which I doubt he would, he'll realize he's being deceived by Theta.
Tubeppa will accept.
Tyson might accept if she thinks Kurapika is cute, she might also be told that her guards lied about her beast being pretty.
Luzurus has no interest in Nen, though Basho might persuade him.
Sale-Sale might accept to show his mom he isn't a lazy bum.
Harkenburg will almost certainly accept because he wants to explain the weird shit that's happening to him.
Kacho won't accept, but Fugetsu will.
Momoze might accept, but I think her mother will be against her and Marayam participating.

Overall, I think Kurapika will have between 3-7 new pupils. Benjamin might strike during this training as well, the last thing he wants is for a sibling to awaken an ability that can kill him.

Togashi put way too much effort into drawing a cockroach.

It's why he's the best lol.

I was rereading the opening part of the DC arc, man this is going to take an even darker turn if we ever get there. The calamities look straight out of a horror film. Can't wait.

Precisely because he is the only Prince with nen, he may choose to attack Kurapica when he hear this, otherwise he will lose his current advantage over all the other princes.

It's also fairly clear that Kurapika is three or four steps ahead of that new bodyguard. That dude isn't questioning anything he's seen, so Kurapika managed to have the Queen use her ability, deactivate emperor time, and hide everyone's nen abilities all at once.

Once he makes that public the interested princes would probably try to keep Kurapica safe so he can teach them though.

For EN, it might depend on the type of aura the user has.
Basically you should be able to detect everything that touches your aura.
Killua extended his aura to be able to detect a bullet, Gon used it at the start of his fight with Knuckle too. Heck Korutopi of the Spiders have his copies act as En too.
Pitou had the ridiculously large En that could stretch kilometers, Pufu on the other hand couldn't even manage to go farther than throne room!
And then there's the Reborn King who on top of having En that could cover an area impossibly large could actually use Spiritual Scale on top to read people's state of mind on everything he touches.
It's used twice and probably the most impressive use of En so far.
Masters are said to be able stretch their En to 150m, we know that Zeno can go farther than 300 without breaking a sweat and Nobunaga something like 4m but it's just a tool for his sword so it tells us nothing.

It's also fairly clear that Kurapika is three or four steps ahead of that new bodyguard. That dude isn't questioning anything he's seen, so Kurapika managed to have the Queen use her ability, deactivate emperor time, and hide everyone's nen abilities all at once.

Emperor time is probably still active as long as the stolen nen is active.

This chapter was god damn amazing, Togashi is the king of turning something mundane like looking for an insect into all out psychological warfare. Three things accomplished in one go; usage of the ability, explaining Nen and tricking the enemy into thinking they know Bill's ability.

Amazing we've gone from "Kurapika, Nen is a secret why are you telling them about it" to "KURAPIKA, WHY ARE YOU TEACHING THEM NEN". One of my favorite things about HxH is how nearly every arc (Election is the only outlier) is partly a training arc and it seems that Togashi intends to keep it that way even when our protagonist isn't the one training!

Yeah, good chapter. I see you,
Queen Oito.

Wait wut?

I just wanna say I like the designs on all these bodyguards right now.

It's actually super similar to the Chimera arc. The generics are getting wiped away and we'll be left with the Meleoron, Ikalgo, Leol, Cheetu etc of this arc.

Not necessarily, Greed Island followed the same pattern orf presenting plenty of characters and then focusing on the core Gon/Killua + their associates.
It's probably going to be similar...and finally turn into a bloodbath when the Troupe goes nuts and they reach the destination.

The whole teach everyone Nen is genius!
Kurapika can access the prince he wants that way, but the killer is that Tetha is already teaching that one so K's plan will fail.

All this talk and schemes in these chapters...

This is better than porn. Cockroach-san included.

From the way Kurapika had been panicking about it, I don't think so. The dolphin is gone, so it's probably running off the Queen's aura at this point. Remember that even non-Nen users have aura.

He's probably running under the assumption some of the princes might be learning it already. By teaching them all Nen he's making it harder for Nen users to make covert moves and attack princes. He's essentially getting rid of any advantages the other princes might have or be in the process of gaining. Considering his position, it's in his best interest to maintain a stalemate between the princes.

You're right, the dolphin IS his nen and and that's why he needed to activate it and not just activate AND use it.

True but it's also a fantastic reason for him to achieve his goal early.
He's not just doing this to protect the child and the mother.
1 stone multiple birds, it's pretty great.

It's also pretty amazing that he's still like 12 steps ahead of that new bodyguard from the first prince. The bodyguard was totally fooled, he had no idea the Queen used that ability, or that it's Kurapika's in the first place, or that the other bodyguard has a totally different ability, and Kurapika is already planning for an eventuality where he finds out about the Queen.

Kurapika is fighting every battle everywhere all at once in his head. Unless Tsenderrich gets a really insane ability he shouldn't have too much trouble making his way through this whole ordeal and getting that last pair of eyes.

I think it's not that the dolphin can't be seen but that it should be using In.
So the bodyguard should be able to see it with Gyô BUT there's no reason to activate it and it's a pretty clear indication that you're in a fighting position.
And on top of that it's pointless if you're already using En.
so it makes sense that only Kurapila and the Queen can see the Dolphin.
the bodyguard could be ticked off in something being anormal if kurapika didn't materialize the chain at all time so this is also part of the deception.
And K is the planner of the hero group so by just sensing the En he's planning on how that could affect everything.

pairs of eyes...
And if he can't access the prince, he can't even touch the set of eyes...unless he just steal them.

For the first point, it's said a few times that only the Queen and Kurapika could see the dolphin, so that might not be In. We have no way of knowing for sure though.

For the latter, so long as he and his prince survive until the end and win he'll be able to get them since Tsenderrich will be dead by the end of the ride.

Also, I thought he was just after one more pair of eyes. I didn't realize it was more than one set remaining.

Dolphin has to be invisible as part of the ability and not just In trickery. There's no way the 1st bodyguard wouldn't have used Gyo during the demonstration and seen the ruse immediately otherwise.

Also, I thought he was just after one more pair of eyes. I didn't realize it was more than one set remaining.

Goddamn do I love HxH. That play with Kurapika, the Queen, and Bill on the cockroach. I really hope Kurapika survives because of the high level he consistently operates at under these extreme situations.

Seriously, they're going to need him to survive the Dark Continent. Dude's playing a level above everyone else while constantly adapting when new information comes in.

Me too. Honestly I'm having more fun watching him than Gon and co. It's not often we get shonen where the main character is so cerebral. This is like JJBA, except in a world that actually makes sense and isn't so weird

Definitely
Now excuse me while I use my magic gum to bring myself back to life and use it to create a new hand

Though I agree with the Kurapica and I'm really enjoying DC

I can't wait to see this animated and they randomly play the first ED during that scene.

I'm so sorry hahahaha

That scene where Pouf and Youpi bring Meruem back to life rivals peak Jojo weird.

It’s great that even side characters like Bill, Shimano, and Queen Oito are intelligent and capable of going along with Kurapika’s plans without even being told. I bet Babymania’s eventual downfall will be due to not knowing Bill’s real nen ability.

There are like, 3 asspulls in HxH. There are like two dozens in JoJo. :p

The gum thing is not even an asspull.
since the heaven towers arc we know of texture surprise and how Macchi thinks it's only for healing, we were never shown the extent of it.
And nen can grow stronger after death, fucking pitou used it to claim gon's arm.
I guess the asspul he that I know Hisoka liked his gum but so much that his nen named after him would answer his call?
Highly unusual but not impossible.

Every HxH ass pull had a permanent and severe consequence, therefore I wouldn't even compare them to the fuckery you see in other publications.

Ep 108:

Meruem: "Yo Pouf get the fuck out of here you're interupting my Gungi game."

*Meruem walks like a badass*
Meruem: "I'm going to kill bae Komugi, my fun's over, I don't need her."
*Opens door*
Meruem: "Holy fuck, this bird killing my bae. Fuck this bird! Dafuq can't I kill her dafuq's up with me?!!!"

So wait, did I miss something, or what was the point of Bill scoffing at the idea of pointing with his finger and suggesting using a pen?
LOL, was it just that Bill didn't want to touch the cockroach?
But then... Now I'm suspicious of why Bill wouldn't want to touch the cockroach...

Because it's a fucking roach and they're gross?

I guess it just seemed too simple for a guy who charged arm-first into gunshots a chapter or two ago.
This being HxH, i'm instantly suspicious that whatever his ability is wouldn't let him touch the roach, or something.
