Infinite Warfare's MP is an embarrassing copy of Black Ops 3

I really want to believe that the old Infinity Ward (IW) is still around. I know Zampella and West left, but I was hoping a core team still existed at IW.
No, many people left, around 40 I think. And the talent drain was immediately evident across all COD titles.

Said it in the other thread, it plays like Ghosts with Blops 3 movement tacked on. First time I would describe a COD game as feeling clunky.

Haters out in full force today.

Yeah, because calling mediocre products mediocre is a bad thing.

This is an issue with gaming in general. Can't comment on a console/game and talk about the flaws in it, because you are immediately a hater or a fanboy of some other product/console.

COD games have gotten worse for years now. They steal whatever popular ideas from other games, then they make worse versions of those ideas and yet zombie hordes just buy them every year. It's like someone made the same average movie every single year and it would be the number one box office hit after each year.

Best thing for the FPS genre would be that people would stop buying this mediocre crap.

I would love to know the thinking behind the person at Activision who decided to allow 3 studios to all do a futuristic game. Especially when the franchise is getting stale and fatigued. Like what the hell is the point of having 3 separate studios all basically doing the same game? Why has it even taken IW 3 years do this game when it clearly borrows alot from Black Ops 3. 3 years and they still manage to release a game that is basically the same as last years.

Pick 10.....Treyarch did it

I'm so sick of the Pick 10 system. I always feel like I'm missing out on something in my loadouts.

Advanced Warfare added jump packs.....but god it didn't even feel like a CoD due to how crap the maps were, the spawns being the worst in the series right next to ghosts and how fast the movement was.

Did you play Advanced Warfare's DLC maps? I felt they were much better than the core maps. Chop Shop is one of the best maps from that game.

The exo movement in AW was just enough to keep it interesting. I hated BO3 and will definitely skip this if it's more of the same.

IW is mostly SP focused as a studio I believe nowdays while MP gets co-developed with brother/sister studios.

The MP will not receive any further play from me.

I will say the zombie mode looks more fun thatn BO3 zombies and the campaign looks awesome.

I'll play the demo and will most definitely hate it like I hate every CoD.

But thanks for the heads up.

I wasn't paying more for a game with multiplayer I hated lol, the single player with Spacey though I loved.

Eh, I feel like this post is kind missing the context of the forum where in. NeoGAF outside of COD4, is quite known for not liking COD. So trying to act like the people criticising the game are somehow being repressed is simply blind to whats around them. I can't think of a CoD in recent memory that didn't get a shit ton of hate spew it out.

On NeoGAF, the amount of people who hate CoD (except for MW1) far out weigh those who like the series still.

My theory (and I've said this before):

After the initial reaction of the release trailer they binned what they were working on and imported BO3's systems and then used their maps and skins and assets as specialists, and here we are.

It's sad but I honestly believe it.

The MP in the game is just so soul-less. It's not bad or good, just lacking identity and personality. I'm surprised at that given how it's a direct clone of BO3... it's like they forgot to clone a personality.

Having to compromise is the entire point of the system. Do you think players should be able to run with every perk and every attachment, all the time?

What, like 100 people?

I think numbers pulled around may this year showed about 30k average between all 4,

Black Ops 2 combined I think still has 200k on average every day on the PS3 and 360 combined.

It's not as low as you would think :)

Would love to see if there was any truth behind this. Would make for an amazing read

Meanwhile, what were your guy'a favorite specialists from Blops 3?
I really loved how edgy the Ripper was and loved the Purifier lol

No, but I felt like in previous games everyone was on an even playing field because they were limited to three perks, two weapon attachments, greandes and specials. With Pick 10 it always feels like I'm missing something from my loadout that could be necessary, but it never feels like I'm gaining anything by having an extra attachment or extra perk.

Haha, yeah I can understand that. I usually bought the Hardened editions so I would end up checking out the DLC maps even if I didn't like core content. There are a lot of great DLC from the past couple of games that will ultimately be forgotten :(.

It definitely feels like at some point in the development they pivoted from something resembling Ghosts 2 to what we have now. Might just be confirmation bias though.

It's a shame that Black Ops 2 isn't backwards compatible yet.

I wonder if that's what happened. They started work on Ghosts 2 multiplayer and when Ghosts 2 was canned by Activision they stopped work on multiplayer and started creating Infinite Warfare. And sometime in 2015 they retrofit Ghosts 2 multiplayer with the mechanics of Black Ops 3.

I just don't think it's a coincidence that it feels like a combination of Black Ops 3 and Ghosts.

Black Ops 2 remaster will be my most played CoD come that generation it gets released......I'm not a huge fan of pick 10.....but it just worked so perfectly for that game. Absolutely my favorite CoD behind MW1 and Black Ops 1 for multiplayer.

Yeah, MP isn't fun at all, just like BO3, and there's so much that's just a straight copy of it. I'm glad I can justify my purchase with MWR and what looks to be a pretty coold campaign.

IW feels like an unpolished version of blops 3 tbh. If it didn't have mwr with it, it would probably be the first cod I didn't buy on release.

The Campaign and Multiplayer seem really different. I'm getting the impression that Infinity Ward weren't trusted with the multiplayer - it certainly couldn't have been developed ignorant of Black Ops 3's multiplayer.

My problem is the spawn and the awful map design with no choke points. Can't get a double kill without be shot in the back or sides. I could get 3 or 4 kills straight in black ops 3 and escape with no problem but in this game its rough man.

It is very similar, I really didnt like either beta. Nothing is more frustrating than the spawns in these games, constantly flipping the battlefield because of spawn spots.

I absolutely loved Blops 3 and was the only CoD i've played in years. I wasn't expecting that in the slightest. But at the same time i remember everyone including press being very negative on Blops 3. So i'm to the point that i don't know what peoples opinions on a Call of Duty game even mean for me leading up the release of the game. It could swing in the complete opposite direction of my taste. Having said that ive kept my expectations down on IW since their last few games have been completely at odds with my taste in gaming. Their past few games have felt very unpolished for lack of a better term.

I think im happy just skipping CoD's and just playing the Treyarch ones.

I don't think you're wrong.

But... the player pop (at least on the PC version) is limited to TDM, Domination, and whatever the weekly 2xp playlist is.

I just want a new CoD where I can play Gungame or Kill Confirmed again.

Yep, it's a shitty remake of an already shit game. Now with added quickscoping. Activision's mismanagement of their studios is hilarious.

Isn't this mostly due to the increased focus on E-sports and keeping the CoD viewer experience more accessible. I mean this is clearly an executive decision and CoD does manage to get some decent viewing numbers when there is a tournament going on.

Yeah, it really feels like this is what happened. With that being said, I still have hope for the campaign. Looks a hell of a lot more interesting than the MP.

Well..... I hate Black Ops 3 MP....

CoD 4 tricked me again. Can't believe I'm hoping for a good SP Campaing.

Bought this because of the Remaster and now.... for John Snow.

I still can't get online, 3 days without playing a single match on beta.

I don't think so. The weapon crafting system seems to be aimed at draining players for microtransaction money to the detriment of game balance. On the face of it I don't see Infinite Warfare being a big e-sport game outside of when Activision directly supports a tournament.

It being a combination of Black Ops 3 and Ghosts would probably just be due to Treyarch giving Infinity Ward their multiplayer blueprint, and their multiplayer designers making modifications to it. I doubt they got far enough into a Ghosts 2 concept to be developing multiplayer.

That's what I struggled with as well. I only played domination and when holding two flags trying to play defense on them I'm still getting killed in the back all the time. There was no game flow that I was use to (haven't played CoD since BO2.)

There's no defense, it was just people capping flags constantly because there are a million ways to run around the back side.

Granted I was playing by myself the whole time without mics but not sure how that would be different playing with my old group of CoD friends who were pretty good at domination.

It's curtailed most of my interest in it that's for sure. It's not bad, but it's just so similar to a game I've already played 180 hours of that I have no interest at all in continuing to play it. I'll get it for the Campaign which looks amazing and the MW:R multi but I don't think I'll be putting much time into the MP proper because it's very, very similar to what I've already played for a long time already.

This does, however, make me excited for Sledgehammers new one.

Something about a tone down version of BO3 attracts me. I never used any of the wall running so that isn't my concern. Spawns has me worried but honestly most CODs to me have had rough spawns that I just get used to.

I honestly wish we could go back to AW systems. While a lot of people hates the boost system I found it really felt like a fun step forward for the franchise. When Blops 3 came around and added their thruster system it just felt like it was in place so you can tranverse the map slightly easier, it has almost no use in combat.

I mean, for all of the bitching about P2W weapons in AW and Blops3, there's at least the argument that they're just different, not necessarily better.

In IW the crafted weapons are just straight up better than the stock ones.

I cannot in any way see them justifying giving people a gun variant with "infinite damage range" in a competitive multiplayer shooter.

It's so stupid.
