MAG |OT| 256-Player Battles, Lots of Teamwork, Not So Much Auto-Aim

SVER sabotage map I find speed matters. Get A and B asap then raid C usually how I win in that map. Long battles lets them get trenched in then they usually win :/
Absolutely. If SVER can start creeping up on A and push you back, good night nurse. Call it a game. It ain't happening.

are there any good videos I should watch to get hyped/learn from for tommorow? tutorials and stuff?

I believe that nobody appears on radar unless

1. They are firing their weapon
2. Somebody in your squad has Motion Sensors up
3. Squad Leader has done UAV, OIC/Platoon leaders have done Sensor Sweep

This is why the underutilized electronics tech line is so important. Motion Sensors give your entire squad a "heads up" on incoming hostiles.

(hostiles not moving or crouch-walking will also not be seen on radar even by Motion Sensors)

hmm i will have to think about this tech line. i dont mind being support with tech and medical. i think thats what i will do when i jump online for the first time.

Played a domi round with GAF, I believe we owned Valor really hard. :lol

Also, I'm playing with SVER and I'm not noticing any strange imbalancing issues. If I had to guess my win/defeat ratio without looking at stats, I'd probably say 50/50.

Game is immensely addictive and loads of fun.

So I was playing earlier. I revived a fallen soldier (leave no man behind) then another dude starts giving me shit because I didn't stick around to revive him as well. Really OTT stuff like "fuck you I hope you fucking die in a car crash". I was a bit mythed at this. Anyway he proceeded with this abuse and whining for a few minutes. When I ran into him again a few minutes later I stabbed him in the back. Was I wrong GAF?

Also, I fucking adore MAG

School man, school.

I hate how I can't be the leader of a squad, platoon, or OIC anymore... ever since I went into Veteran Mode. I used to love it when 80% of the time I joined a Domination game, I was the OIC and was a walking, talking, shooting, health ATM.

Not to mention, being able to use the powerful abilities that are given to an OIC. 2 good OICs going at it is a very interesting battle. An OIC can sometimes turn the tide of battle quite dramatically.

Moral of the story: Don't do Veteran Mode unless you really want to switch factions.

The only thing that could have made it more right is if you had shot him, revived him, THEN knifed him.

Lol, I did this to a fellow RavenGaffer. I don't remember who it was, but I managed to revive him them accidently stab him. I ended up getting shot and so we were both lying there dead, I felt like such a tool, luckily we both laughed it off.

Hmmm, Valor has the SVER sabo map figured out. Winning alot today even with randoms. :D

Good to hear cause the few times I did it yesterday we got owned.

Tsk, Tsk You played with Valor GAF last night we all quit after enjoying a three game win streak. What level are you soldier? :lol When we play domination and the attacking team doesn't unlock the objective until there is only 6 minutes left that's a good game.

dam, first day i havent played any MAG, got to go to sleep now for early start at work and i am already looking forward to destroying sver at domination again.

the secret to beating them at their map, as shown by a certain zipper member, is for the guys with the apc to rush the gate take down the anti air and then drive round blowing shit up. sver then start running madly trying to repair everything but then the cluster bombs just wipe them all out allowing for easy taking of the bunkers. then the rest is a piece of cake.

this is the strategy i have had the most success with and is also the most fun.

Your such a dork for going Vet, ha ha ha snort snort....

good games SVER GAF.

I finished the tutorial (hey, bonus level-up before I even started playing -> medical kit), then got an invite and started my first (non-beta) match in domination :lol (defence, we actually LOST :p We won the next 5 games though ^^ )
Still haven't tried Suppression.

the LMG is really good... please nerf it so I have the motivation to switch to Sniper later on :lol
2:45h total MAG time and I jumped from Level 1 to 13 :D

Speccing AR without the grenade launcher is a waste as far as I'm concerned. You need to be able to compete with the seemingly ever increasing number of LMG users, and the launcher does that at close range. Medium to long range is where the AR's strengths lie.

Also, grenade launchers are insanely useful for when attacking bunkers, I can't count the number of times I've swooped in, and killed half a squad with a couple of nades.

Cheers for the games tonight fellow SVER battalion, went up 5 ranks this evening 17 in two days... about 5 hours.

Really enjoying the experience of this thus far, levelling feels much better than MW2.

I shall be back on tomorrow, no doubt about it.

"MAG's player count is an impressive technical achievement, but the game world feels oddly mechanical. Outside of the high player count, the uninspired world fails to stand out from the pack. If every gameplay mechanic were kept intact and shrunk down to a 16 or 32-player game, MAG would be an experience as generic as its title."

I kind of feel bad for zipper interactive due to this type of bullshit in some reviews. I don't care if a review is bad (eurogamer mag review is probably the best review atm) but this type of comments are completely dishonest.

This this and more... I was witness to a 40+ man assault just this very evening.

I am enjoying the game very much although my killcount leaves a little to be desired, I am committing much more to my healing and resuscitation abilities.

your killcount is still much higher than me in that last game I played before I left. most of my xp comes from healing and reviving players.

I'm still not sure how domination mode works. how does the bar underneath the timer filled? just by taking over objectives for as long as the attacker team can?

yes, pretty much the more objectives you take the more damage you cause. The "final" objectives i.e. the letters are what cause the damage, I believe. The more you have down the faster the bar fills I think.

I love to run all along the line and heal people up. Considering investing in Advanced Sprint Recovery. Also, I always carry both medical kits because I gotta give the good stuff to the fighters.

Any guns I carry are usually for opportunistic plinking, to distract a group of people away from a main force advancing forward, though I couldn't get that to work in my last game because of a spotty connection for some reason.

Also I have to up my healing powers... and get some poison grenades to keep those bastards from coming up to finish the job of downing my team... and damn... gonna take some work to be a proper medic.

Btw anyone have a good site/wiki to read about the game? I'm still not 100% on all the stuff like mortars or APCs or the capabilities leaders have. Really wish they put some effort into the instruction manual.

I love MAG, I really do, but there are a couple of things about this game that's making me a sad, angry panda:

1. I die, I see the "Press X to bloodout", but it doesn't count down nor does anything when I press X, I can still move around and shoot (can't kill or heal though), and I can't respawn.

2. I die, go back to the base with the countdown timer counting down...but I don't respawn.

3. I die, go back to base with no countdown timer.

If someone from Zipper is reading this, please for the love of Chuck fix this!

Thanks for the games tonight SVER GAF, that domination match where we capped our objectives like 10 minutes ahead of every other battalion was hilarious.

One thing that bugs me as how eager the medkit is to heal people around you. Be nice if it only triggered when I was actually looking at the person.

It seems that Raven players are boycotting Domination :lol

Last I checked earlier there was close to 3k SVER players playing Domination and only around 900 Raven playing. Though Raven is all over in large numbers in Acquisition :lol Which they seem to be currently winning at too. "hey we can usually win our Acquisition maps, lets go play that instead".

This does not bode well for game longevity if it keeps up. PMC's just will gravitate their populations towards the modes in which they win the most in.

my problem is I'm not sure which way I'm facing when I got revived. in a middle of shootout, it's really easy to get confused and get killed again in seconds.

to be fair, I kind of think the objectives is a bit mechanical/staged. secure A and B to unlock C. not sure what to say it, maybe it's a bit 'gamey'. it'd be interesting if the OIC can assign which squads to which spawn point at will. then we'll get strategy like the OIC putting 4 squad focusing on breaking through 1 section or maybe to draw enemy defense focused on the front, while sending 1 highly skilled squad to attack stealthily from less defended area.

I also think it's unfortunate that all defending team could do is to wait till the time runs out. maybe they could have optional objectives that is hard to complete but can end the match quicker. or have new modes like maybe escort mission. one team have to bring vehicle to specific point. it's guarded by troops and smaller vehicles. and the attacking team have to destroy or steal said vehicles.

I just think it'd be cool if there's more than one way the match ends. make it a bit more dynamic.

wow, now I suddenly want Rune with 256 player online multiplayer. charging enemy line with sword and shield accompanied by 127 party member sounds epic.

I understand complaints etc. Eurogamer gave the best review easily for why or why not you should buy the game. But the 16 player matches aren't really the purpose of the game and the mechanics won't be remotely the same. Zipper Interactive game was neither uninspired or mechanical. I don't like the bullish comments by some of these game reviews.

yeah, I don't agree with Eurogamer comment about 16/32player matches. it's like saying remove the stand out feature of the game and it become generic. now why would anyone want to remove the think that make it unique is beyond me.

I read only a few of MAG review and maybe it's just me, but it seems like all review point out skepticism that whether or not people are ready for Mag experience. most review acknowledge it deliver a unique experience no other shooter deliver, but they felt most people aren't going to understand the game, won't spend the effort to know it, and will impact negatively on the community.

by that point, I felt most review aren't looking at the game objectively anymore but looking it as how hey think mainstream gamer will probably view it. it's not even subjective anymore because they're not looking at it from their point of view but from the mainstream gamers (the cod crowd)

worse, it sometimes reflect on their review score.

Definitely. If you're working on your setups for max level, you should be able to get it without any issue.
