Very unsurprising, but still note worthy, as those "in the know" already know that prope are specifically geared towards original IPs.
I do not see this as a knock to the rumour, as really, no-one truely expected Naka to be doing the game. No one worth listening to anyway.

I remember I think it was this time last year in and around-GDC...someone on a blog posted that they were at a party where Naka was drunk and he said he was developing NiGHTS...
At the time I thought it was bollocks...
But if this indeed does get confirmed that NiGHTS is being developed for the Wii...then hooray!!! and I need to find that blogger again...
He also said Insomniac were interested in developing for the Wii...

Speaking to representatives close to the project, we were told in no uncertain terms that a new NiGHTS game is about to be uncovered. NiGHTS will launch exclusively for the Nintendo Wii platform.
Yes, there is a new NiGHTS coming, and coming quite soon actually, we were told today by a representative close to the project who agreed to speak with us under terms of strict anonymity. It's a full game too, not a rehash of old NiGHTS for Virtual Console as some have said it might be lately. It's a whole new game.

That said, I question the market size for NiGHTS. It will have to be a good game, because "hardcore" promises mean little in actual sales most of the time.
Of course, I don't care how NiGHTS sells. If we get a sequel, and it doesn't suck, well then...that's one more good NiGHTS game than I ever expected to get.

With regards to the market for NiGHTS, I thoroughly beleive that if the game were to match the quality of the original (CAN you match perfection?) then it will be hailed as a AAA game and so should pretty much sell itself to any videogamer.
Then, add in the fact that NiGHTS fans have genuinely made non-NiGHTS fans curious on the internet, then I feel a big buzz would be generated, larger than that of Mario Galaxy because, hell, we all knew Mario was coming, and everyones played a mario.
NiGHTS I think has quite a mystique surounding it.
Then add in the fact that it already had a "non-game" built into it all those years ago (a-Life) then I think blockbuster sales to everyone who even thinks about videogames garaunteed.
I call => 3 million worldwide sales.
I am seriously biased though, and this is taking at face value the fact that the game will be brilliant.

That wouldn't get them out of it for me, but yeah, if they announce something else absolutely awesome, then I think they will get a stay-of-execution. But it will have to be a gaf favourite. Like, Wii Sports 2.

Nights was completely new to me so I dug up some info (I never owned a saturn or saw the game)

Dunno if this is old or not, but apparently NGamer has nothing at all on this "starry game", and say it won't be in until the next issue now.
