OMG Bugbear's 'Next Car Game' has the most incredible destruction ever!

Those physics are glorious.

I just watched the video where he fire all sorts of things while free move mode.

WOW fucking insane.

I can totally see this becoming a game it's self!

A team of people drive around a track or something while one throws a bunch of shit at them, so they would try to dodge, with the whole destruction engine and everything.

That sounds so great :)

I picked this up the other day. Downloaded the early access which includes a destruction derby and one race on a very dusty bumpy track, lots of fun. Still to finish first in the destruction derby, second is my best so far.

Very intensive on the gpu.

Anybody else picked this up?

Every time these guys release a game I get the feeling that it's going to bomb and they're going to go under. Tech is amazing and nothing wrong with the game either, but unfortunately doesn't really attract the big audience.

They would be dead now if the publisher model was all they had. But they do have a dedicated fanbase on PC and this game is being crowd-funded, that's how mid-tier developers and genres are going to survive.

I'm so excited for this, the original and flatout 2 were some of the most played games at lans for friends and myself, so much destruction derby!

Only hope its either decent on consoles or my current PC can run it.

It's superb. And these guys have a proven track record of creating interesting environments, races, AI and yes, sandbox modes like these before...

Really big shame they couldn't get the kickstarter funded, wishing all the success for this version now.

Holy shit. That gif above my post is glorious...
Saw a sneak peak quite a while ago and instantly loved what I saw. I was a huge Destruction Derby 2 fan back in the days so this is like a dream come true.

The Q&A on their homepage says the game is coming out in early spring 2014? That would be pretty soon. Are they really that far into the development or will it be pushed back? Not sure if my PC can handle the full experience provided by Bugbear but I'm secretly hoping (not begging) for a PS4 version. I'm willing to buy the game on PC if that helps them make a next gen console version.

I also second the comment about Bugbear making a spiritual successor to Red Faction Guerilla!

I've tried it briefly - the handling is surprisingly fun too. Feels like you can settle into a somewhat automated drift if you tap the brakes and turn in, but it's adjustable enough to make it feel like you're in control. It's really amazing to see all this destruction kick off with no framerate hit. I've never seen so much debris and physics working together, plus plenty of smoke/dust effects... my brain just expects it to chug every time, and it just doesn't. This could be a huge success.

yeah I picked it up right when it was available (kickstart?). I guess its time to try the update.. thx :)

GUYS, ON PC, ITS ASSETO CORSA AND THIS GAME RIGHT HERE! WHAT YOU WAITING FOR? JUMP IN!!
It was available at least for a little while before Kickstarter, which is when I jumped in on it :) Sucks the KS didn't go well, but it looks like Bugbear have received some kudos back in the form of a solid Steam Early Access campaign.

Well-deserved, too. All of their demos and pre-releases have been surprisingly solid. Can't wait for the full thing to come out.

Give it a name. Something gamers can remember and talk about. Bugbear next gen racing game is the worst thing ever to sell
There was an interview in one finnish gaming magazine where they said that they've called every project Next Car Game, and that it will not be final name for the finished game.
So no worries.

Maybe a bit premature to ask, but is the phyisics in this game done entirely by CPU, or does the game utilize some kind of GPGPU?

(I ask because I have an MSI GX60, and it has a pretty weak processor.)

This is just a guess, but I think it's all CPU based.

For car game this tech will be wasted really.

maybe Nordic Games can use this for the next Red Faction (since Geo-mod is with Volition)

Haven't picked it up but from I see it looks more CPU bound. It does indeed look good though but all them calculations of on the fly physics look resource intensive.

Since the rest of the gifs are pretty big ~30MB I'll just link them.

Can't wait until there's more to this game. Some of these crashes kinda reminds me of that first Motorstorm trailer when the yellow car crashes at the end.
Good. Good.

Can you get this on steam since its early access or only through their site?

You buy it through their site and redeem it on Steam right now.

Also, from my experience with the demos, it's incredible. I threw so many physics objects on the field, with zero lag, it was insane.

And the second I started driving, the FlatOut memories started pouring back in. Felt really nice.

GAF, the tech demo level is still rad as hell. You should get this.

Really big shame they couldn't get the kickstarter funded, wishing all the success for this version now.

The direct-to-developer site has already pulled in more money than the Kickstarter project goal.
