Less than a month after its premiere, the streaming giant has renewed Jason Bateman and Laura Linney drama Ozark for a second season.

Produced by Media Rights Capital, the drama revolves around financial planner Marty Byrde (Bateman) and his wife, Wendy (Linney), and their family's sudden relocation from the suburbs of Chicago to a summer resort community in the Missouri Ozarks. Rather than the familiar skyscrapers and trading floors, Ozark explores capitalism, family dynamics and survival through the eyes of (anything but) ordinary Americans.

Critic scores seem so way out of wack compared to what im used to. For a show i liked as much as this, and considering the quality of the writing and acting i am still very surprised its that low. Usually my views of shows fall in line with the aggregates.

Nice to hear. Season 1 was a quality show throughout. Solid direction on the Bateman-directed episodes. Always like seeing an actor directing the show they star in with good results.

I found it silly, with forced grittiness and unlikable characters all around. I feel like it takes a really special script/showrunner to make a great show with unlikable characters, and they missed the mark here (in my opinion, obviously many disagree).

I usually agree with the aggregates and don't bother watching anything that scores low anymore but the trailer gripped me. Glad I watched it and the reviews are baffling to me. All the BB comparisons are ridiculous. This isn't trying to be BB.

Not sure on the common gripe, but I'm noticing more and more that TV critics are giving good shows a bit of a harder time now that there's so much out there, Peak TV and all.

this one gets renewed & Quarry doesn't, there is no god. Kidding aside this show the definition of a mixed bag. If they can up the the quality of writing & decide what the show wants it to be, it definitely has potential. And before İ forget Julia Garner is awesome.

I think Netflix is listening to what people want and there is a hole for a show of this type right now. I was bored one night and watch the first episode and by the next day I had watched the whole season. It was not something I was expecting and was really entertaining. I can't say that about a lot of the shows coming out of Netflix lately.

I haven't watched but the only TV critic I really follow is Alan Sepinwall, but he said that the show is completely humorless and derivative of various other prestige shows.
