I didn't really like the show but this would be incredible. I feel like the ingredients are all there for it to be good. I mean, I watched all 10 eps and I like the actors, so hopefully the writing on season 2 turns things around for me.

The whole show is depressing, I guess. I'd say stick with it because it's pretty good TV but if you're really averse to depressing media, then this is probably not the TV show for you.

For some reason it's worse because it's Jason Bateman. My mind associates him with laughs and lightheartedness.

Not sure on the common gripe, but I'm noticing more and more that TV critics are giving good shows a bit of a harder time now that there's so much out there, Peak TV and all.

I think you might have it there. Theres a helleva lot more quality shows then there used to be.
That said, still feels low.
