You know if this turns out good mehanically I could see this doing very very well. It's almost like mascot fighter in that people will probably be buying this because some of their favorite Pokemon are in the game.

Reposting for arcade naysayers:
What? Every theater has an arcade. Dave and Buster's and Chuck E Cheese and many big casinos still have arcades. It's not as rare as you would think.

The Mario Kart arcade games were released in the US too.

Exactly.

Most arcades in theaters are decade old games from my experience.

Go to more newer theaters. Most theaters I've been to have updated cabinets.

Most fighting games don't perform well on consoles for some reason in Japan. I think the most successful was persona 4 Arena, and that wasn't due to fighting games fan.
It's because the japanese prefer offline play when it comes to fighting games. Sure, they get the games to practice and fool around online, but the real competition is in arcades.

Those visuals don't look like the game is intended for a system with PS4/XBO fidelity. I mean, it doesn't look bad by any means, but look at the textures on Lucario. It was clearly designed with a Wii U port in mind.

At the very least the arcade system it is on will probably be based on Wii U hardware, just like Tatsunoko vs. Capcom ran on arcade hardware that was based on the Wii.

Maybe this will be next holiday's Pokemon game. I know they've been releasing them yearly recently but are they really going to do XY 2 or remakes of Red/Blue? I don't see them doing a new gen either.

Guess I'll eat my shorts now.
Would the roster only include final forms, perhaps? With 'Mega' evolutions being a sort of X-Factor.

The final boss must be Heihachi.

I have to say, I wish this looked more original and exciting. At this early state, it looks more like Pokémon characters dropped into Tekken Engine, with no real concern to making it feel like Pokémon. Why not give it a more animated look, or something that looks closer to the movies or a high-budget take on the anime fights? I'd love to see some earthquakes, characters effecting the entire field with attacks in order to give them enhanced attacks and movement options, limited environmental attacks, game-relevant status effects and attacks, and maybe even trainers in the background, cheering on their chosen fighters.

It'd also be cool to see the fights happen in a variety of Pokémon Stadiums, rather than in a field that looks like a grassy area from a Tekken.

Let it go to arcades first. Let it go through some rigorous "beta testing" before it officially hits consoles, probably with an expanded roster and balance beyond what it would have had if it was straight-console exclusive. Even if my initial impression are lukewarm, I really hope it can become something special.

I hope some of you guys know that fighting games tend to go through an arcade release before being released on consoles

Japanese arcades in 2015.
So does this mean I won't be able to play Rise of the Tomb Raider on my PC?
Stupid Microsoft.

Eh, I'll wait for Puggle Tag Tournament 2 Hyper Turbo Remix Edition with 100+ Pokemon to add!

I'm assuming you're in San Digeo/LA/west coast. Hell probably New York as well.

Because down here in the South, if I go to a city that isn't probably Atlanta or Miami? Those "arcades" at theaters have 20 year old arcade machines.

Why do you think this will come out on console in 2015? It might come in mid 2016 or later we never know and Nintendo could launch the next gen console by then. It's too early to claim it will definitely come to WiiU.

Because the longest wait from a Tekken game to console was 2 years and that was considered a huge mistake by every party involved. TTT2 was one year, T5 was like four months. They aren't going to sit on this game for more than a year, 6-12 months is considered the standard for arcade to console and even that is shortening with most titles. The graphics are clearly on Wii U's level. Not sure about the engine but it could be a variation of TTT2's, which is already on Wii U. So yeah, all the signs pointing to Wii U.

You people with fighting-only Pokemon need to think outside the box a bit. Here are some interesting possible non-fighting types.

Gengar
Ludicolo
Mewtwo
Rhyperior
Starmie
Scizor
Blissey
Shiftry
Bisharp
Deoxys
Lopunny
Garchomp
Electivire
Magmortar
Seismitoad
Dragonite
Druddigon
Reshiram
Zekrom
Tyrantrum

Thinking about it I really want Conkeldurr in here, those pillars have such potential, I want to vault into the sky with them and come crashing down creating a concrete crater.

Hmmm. I think Pokken might get Guest Character, Heiachi or Kuma. Yeah, I'm going to call that.

A guest character, in a Tekken game? No chance in hell.
I agree entirely, though I could see the guest character being some other Nintendo character that already has a history of beating up Pokemon in Smash or something. Having Heihachi beating on Pokemon would look...odd.

Not actually that important
I wonder what the roster will be made of, doesn't seems likely too see something like Pikachu in it but on the other hand it'd be a glaring omission probably impacting on its popularity.

Either way, this is no doubt another game which will make use of Amiibos when it releases on WiiU later on

Plenty of non-fighting types would be great in the game, but from what we've seen it seems like it'll probably be fighting-type only.

Ha wow looks great. Graix's look better than I thought they would.

What arcade engine is powering this?

Whatever they use for Tekken I'm sure.

It's really interesting watching the bonds form between Nintendo and Namco Bandai (and Koei Tecmo). What other sort of cross pollination do you think we'll see if they keep getting stronger?

i live in Iowa. There's not a god damn arcade game past the early 2000s in this state.

Ah, that's unfortunate to hear, but in many other places in the U.S. there ARE updated arcades though admittedly not as many as Japan.

The whole reason Nintendo seems to be doing this is because Japan is big on arcades than consoles at the moment, especially with fighting games. It's not really a game made for Western arcades, but I'm still making the case that it could definitely still be put in multiple locations here in the U.S.

As said by other people, you only tend to see those in major cities. I've never seen a Street Fighter IV machine in person. I doubt I'll be seeing Pokken.

Getting back on the hype train this is exactly what I wanted from Pokemon. Namco is making it!

Now where is the Capcom developed Capcom X Nintendo fighting game?
