I've been looking at that exact TV, have you noticed any uneven/leaking backlight issues? I can't really test it in the store with all the lights. How does it handle SD content?

it has a terrific scaler. My ex roommate had an LG HDTV and SD content looked like shit on it, here, its scaled for berable viewing plesure. Uneven leaking backlight issues? elaborate for me. So far it was very worth my money i love the tv.

They are called Storage Towers I believe. The big one was given to me by a friend so no idea where he got it from & the small one I got it from GAME.

Like if all the lights in your room are off and there's dark scene on the screen, do you notice uneven lighting or leaking around the edges? I watch a lot of movies in the dark.

Friends don't let friends put video game consoles on carpets!!!!

Don't worry... In a couple days when I move the consoles are no longer going to be on a carpet. Hopefully they'll be in a much nicer setting, a setting that shall also be documented in picture form. As for my sound system, it's unfortunately not mine... I work for Bose, and they "lend" us a system after you work for them for 3 months. Sooo yeah. I do however, have an older Lifestyle 18 that I'm looking to get rid of, and I'm also hopefully soon going to be able to afford a Lifestyle 35 of my own after I sell my 18.

Not a joke.

Worst set-up so far?

It might be your photography skills, but I actually really like this set-up and think it stands out among the best here. It's very understated and the cabinet really sticks out. A very good use of limited resources.

One word, IKEA.

Yes, I've been looking on there lately. I want new stuff, but I don't exactly need it and I don't want to pay for the shipping [and I just bought a PS3 :) ]. One night, I know I'm going to pull the trigger and start replacing some crappy furniture.

Edit: And I'd need to drive pretty far to get any decent furniture of that type from a brick and mortar.

no, not at all.

Just wondering how far do you sit away from the screen? I've been looking into this TV lately.

Used to own that telly but chnaged it to sammy 40" (still 1080p) due to backlight bleed, sat 8 - 8.5 feet from it with default setting. I got cosntant headache for about a week till I dimmed every setting possible on the telly. Put the contrast down as possible without losing pic quality and turned power saving to high. My advice? dont' get a 40+ if you're not at least 10+ feet away from it.

Yeah, that entire shelving unit was rather expensive only because of the glass doors and glass shelves I put in. The doors cost more than the shelves themselves. I'm gonna put some lighting fixtures in each of them soon, but I'm too lazy atm to even bother. It does look nice though when the light is going through the glass shelves.

Speaking of which, I need to go to IKEA tomorrow and get some closets and a nice coffee table to put in front of the TV.

EDIT: BTW, the wife was cool with the Zeon flag. ****ing rock on!

Where'd the doored cabinet on the left come from? Looks good and it would match most of my stuff.

That's IKEA. Like most of this thread.

Target sells something like it also.

Does anybody have any recommendations for floating shelves? Our stand-alones can't keep up with our gaming and video collection (not to mention it's a total waste of space for systems with smaller cases).

I'm probably going to relocate the PS3 so that it has better ventilation.

There are some nice set ups here. I'll have to post mine. It's nothing to write home about but I'd like to share after I upload everything to my webserver.

I totally need a coffee table like this. Where did you buy it?
edit: although the glass top might not like heavy arcade sticks being used on it...
I'm going to say... IKEA, considering half of his stuff is from there and I think I've seen that same table at my local IKEA.

Finally finished the setup just now. Was trying not to wake up the wife while working on it. :lol

I've seen about 3 of the exact same setup that my parents use at their house. IKEA FTW!

Whoa where'd you get that awesome Zeon flag?

Edit: whoops saw the answer in a prev post... gotta visit Akiba sometime...

Yea, really. I'm currently in college and couldn't afford anything this nice at this point or even closely following my graduation. What kind of jobs do you guys have?

Being a nursing supervisor helps a little bit with the gaming fund. :D

I mug for spending money. And I'm thinking about kidnapping a wife who's okay with gaming collectibles.

Aw ****.

I've been looking at 50'' TV's(Panasonic plasma and Sammy 50'' 1080p TV). Right now with my tube HDTV I'm at a viewing distance of 7.5 ft(the screen is 30''). However when I get a new TV they will obviously be much smaller in the back so it can go closer to the wall.

The wall to where I sit is 10ft and with the plasma it would be damn near against the wall and the DLP would stick out a little farther, maybe in in the 8.5-9.5ft range.

Is this too big?

:(

I'm in college and work 25-35 hours a week. I own a 30'' HDTV and I'm thinking about getting a 40-50'' TV. And no I do not live at home, I live on my own with my G/F.

If you have a job and take advantage of deals at places like CC(no interest until 2010) then it's really not that hard. If I get the TV that I want which is $1,699 today I'd have 32 months to pay it with no interest. That would come out to $57.47 a month minimum to have it paid off by December 2009.

I don't see how that could be a problem unless you're trying to pay your way through a 4-yr university with cash upfront which not impossible, is pretty damn hard.

Tieno,

do you get 5.1 sound with your PS3?
If so, what kind of speakers are those?
Yep and it's Logitech Z-5500 digital...but they probably already have a new set in this series.

Thanks.

I have 5.1 sound with my PC and got used to having it. But the PS3 uses a digital output for 5.1/7.1 sound, so I've been using 2.1 analog sound with my PS3.
