If they would give us an example of like... 2 or 3 perks, I think it would paint a better idea of what we are getting into. I honestly did feel that the stat system in oblivion had it's share of... frivolity. It didn't feel like it mattered all that much, and when I took time to really look into it and understand it, it felt a bit exhausting. That with the class archetypes just gave the game a weird customization system. I don't necessarily want something more 'streamlined' - but something more transparent would be ideal. For example, if anyone has tried the darkspore beta - you can see how the attributes on weapons not only effect your base attack and whatnot, but you can see how it effects your abilities - which is useful. The other day I was trying to decided between two different bits of armor, and I wasn't sure if, for example, one that 'increased damage done by area effect spells by 11%" would be better than another one that increased my Mind by 9 - I tried them both on, and very clearly it showed me how it would effect my attacks.
That sort of transparency is ideal, you could keep the attributes from before, heck you could add some, if you made it as straight forward as that.
That being said, this comes out on my 25th birthday. I think it's a sign.
