Dont matter. I'm still buying it. If this is as bad as SA2 then im in for a treat. SA2 is the greatest game of all time.
No. Check out Generations: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asBqG6YL5cc
This will inevitably sell more than Mania and that makes me sad
The price is right and the avatar and story focus would likely appeal to its demographic. The lack of a physical release hurt ManiaI wouldn't be so sure of that.
... Did we talk about that Ring Monitor that is deliberately placed over a spring yet, causing them to clip into each other?
Looks like a user created Little Big Planet level.
Let me guess, you played the hugely underwhelming demo with almost no platforming and none of the layered combat found as you progress and level up in the game? That's the only way you'd be able to make a comment like that, since it's nothing like you describe. Open up the OT, and you'll find an overwhelming number of people who were not only pleasantly surprised by the game, but thoroughly enjoyed the experience having actually played the full title and not just the demo.Nah, Knack 2 is still mediocre even if better than the first.
Its basically sonic Unleashed werehog stages if they werent a technical mess but with the art design of Vexx or some other mediocre PS2 platformer
Not a fan of fun 3D platformers or brawlers I take it?

It is pretty weird that Forces looks worse. It is 60fps on consoles, but it should still look better than Generations on 360.Generations looks next gen compared to Forces. Forces is ugly and soulless.
I mean in comparison Mania is a game with a combination of re-used resources with a few new ideas. It's basically a great homage to referenced material. What are other studios going to reference for a 3D Sonic? Adventure? Heroes? 06? Unleashed? Colors? Boom? (which was done by a third party or secondary studio along with Chronicles.)He's not necessarily wrong. Irregardless of it being a 3D or 2D game, Mania clearly has more craftsmanship poured into its game design compared to what has been showcased with Forces. Taxman and his crew didn't have any doubts about the game they wanted to make and they understood how they would put it together. Forces looks like a hot mess of conflicting ideas all trying to get their due in the spotlight at the same time. That game's priorities on what product it wants to be are all over the place. It is especially damning given Mania was made on a fraction of the time, staff, and general budget/resources compared to what Sonic Team had on hand to make this game.
I don't think Sonic Team should be fired but Sega should really hand the keys to Sonic over to another studio/division. Forces gives off the impression this is a game that nobody on the development team is remotely passionate about, and desperately wishes they were working on something else entirely.

with an emphasis on the holy grail of platforming that so many gameplay militants love to complain about the lack of too often on on here; actual real 60fps gameplay.
Here, let me replace the word with "prioritizing" since that's clearly what I meant, but you already knew that, right? Like always, people stooping to nitpicking vocabulary usage over the actual content of a post just demonstrates how little they really have to say.Literally everything about this sentence is comedic gold.
How does a game emphasize the number of frames it displays on your TV per second? Is there a big green 60 permanently placed in the HUD? Maybe with a picture of the Holy Grail next to it?
looks like ugly garbage
sonic mania was pretty cool
Looks like shit like every other piece of media this game has had released. Thank god for Mania!
$20 on Sonic Mania to Sonic Forces.
Edit- shit, positive. Uh. Sonic Boom to Sonic Mania.

The only comedy gold here is how much time you waste on a game you hate and supposedly have no interest in, posting essentially the same thing:
(and this is just from 30 secs of glancing at your posts)
like
we get it
You hate forces, Mania is good, blah blah
But don't you have anything better to do with your time instead of finding new ways to make the same post over and over? Or any other thoughts to contribute? Or should we expect similar spamming in the OT for a game you won't own?
If they put out new footage and a thread is made, he has the right to comment negatively. I certainly look at every piece of footage released with the hope that it will start looking good again.
But it doesn't. The game looks bad.

I'm pretty much in the same boat, sadly. Losing hope at this point. Sucks because I remember being kinda like "hey that's pretty cool" when Sonic Mania was announced, but extremely hyped to see what they had in store for Project Sonic 2017.
I mean I can't blame them, after MVC3 I had no interest in MVCI until I saw the preview with Combofiend and Yipes about the game's mechanics.Yeah no. How many pieces of footage does it take for someone to finally think "doesn't look like I'm gonna like this game! Interest zero, lemme save my time and breath on paying any more attention to it". I mean I dunno, seems like the natural reaction for normal people. You I get. You have hope that new content might change your mind. But this person has clearly made up his mind long ago.
There's some kinda hate-watch thing going on here that's a little funny but more sad. Or I mean just be straight up about it and admit you just enjoy coming into every thread on a game you hate just to shit on it, if that's your thing I suppose. It looks to be behavior that's going to eventually poison stuff like the OT as well.
And to be clear, there's tons of people calling the game shit. But buddy here does it so often, with the exact same intent it's actually noticeable. Well done I guess?

While Forces doesn't look like what I want from a Modern 3D Sonic, (for me personally combining mechanics from Rush, Unleashed and the level design of unleashed as well as the aesthetics of any original 3D Sonic) it is based on a design that is functional and working. It just needs everything else around it to be given a heavy dose of love.

That's the funny thing, I was actually going to address this out in my first reply to emphasize the game's lack of focus, but kept it out to keep the point simple.
It's true that Mania is largely comprised of existing material from the original games. But most of the levels/playthroughs we've seen from Forces so far (Classic level, Classic boss fight, Modern level, Avatar level, half of the Tag Team level) is from another adaptation of Green Hill, with the only primary change being that the water has been replaced with sand.
And Green Hill isn't going to be an outlier--not only was there a reference in-game about characters meeting up at Chemical Plant, and the Forces mobile game tie-in had a level visually similar to Sky Sanctuary showing up, a recent TGS interview with Iizuka, Nakamura, and Ohtani over the game's music revealed that the game would have many returning stages from the modern era of Sonic. The Casino Forest footage, despite being a new zone, has almost all of its level gimmicks and casino decorations taken from Casino Night too.
It's looking very likely that Forces won't exactly much (if any) cuts of original/new material higher than Mania in the content department. It's especially odd since Forces didn't seem like it would be a game with returning zones up until the Classic Sonic Green Hill level showed up in April; meanwhile Mania from day one was honest about the game having old levels and new levels. (Though with that said, the heavy nostalgia elements aren't new--Colors was the last game to be mostly, if not entirely, comprised of original material. Even sidestepping Mania, you also had Sonic 4, Generations, and Lost World --with its Windy Hill and heavily recycled assets from past levels-- to deal with.)
It's also a bit ironic asking for comparisons and references to other 3D games, because most of the gameplay footage shown off for Forces has been 2D (though in fairness, this has been an issue with most of Sonic Team's games since Colors). All three playable characters and playstyles --Classic Sonic, Modern Sonic, Custom Hero-- have 2D elements in their gameplay. The Tag Team gameplay between modern Sonic and the Custom Hero is the only level from Forces that has entirely 3D gameplay and doesn't shift to a sidescrolling perspective. But that was then followed by Casino Forest, the first new zone shown after months of Park Avenue and Green Hill...which is also another 2D stage.
All the more confusing as Iizuka in past interviews has talked about him and Sega in 2017 making games that please different demographics of Sonic fans, with Mania being billed as the game for older fans and Forces as the game for newer fans...which doesn't make sense. Aside from the implication that playstyle demographics are restricted to age differences doesn't make sense as it is (older fans can like 3D games and newer fans can like 2D games--Mario's handling that just fine), Forces not only has returning classic-oriented stages, but also due to Classic Sonic having an entire third of the game dedicated to himself. (This was also similar to a narrative he did seven years ago with Sonic 4[: Episode I] and Colors as well; which also doesn't make sense, as I said before, Colors also had massive amounts of 2D gameplay in it.)
If the Boost gameplay in this game does have some improvements and good qualities on it, it's never going to get it's time to shine due to it being buried twelve feet underneath a slopfest of conflicting design decisions across the board. As someone not big on the Boost gameplay to begin with (at least, not as a 3D platformer, anyway; I think it would make for a very good racing games); Forces could had saved itself a lot of grief if the designers were more interested in building a game around the Boost gameplay and the Boost gameplay alone, rather than throwing Classic Sonic and the Custom Hero into the mix. Actually going for completely new zones would had done it wonders too.
Dont matter. I'm still buying it. If this is as bad as SA2 then im in for a treat. SA2 is the greatest game of all time.
This is the best thread I can find to post this:
If anyone with a prime account has the Switch version of the game preordered on Amazon.es and plans on cancelling it, please send me a PM first. It would be nice if you could send it to my address instead of cancelling (the game is sold out). Of course I would pay in advance, before Amazon charges.
Ideally Amazon will open preorders again tho. I hope so.
Postage to the Canary Islands is pretty expensive, tho. But we get free postage in amazon.es because of being part of SpainIf you have a prime account, it might be a better idea if you import from another EU country, like Amazon.fr, .de or .co.uk.
You need to pay postage but not customs.
