Though that could be just so they can come back and say "Ha, just joking! Check out this awesome hardware and how powerful it is!"
...Right? ;_;

Nintendo Ate My Children said:I know this kind of argument goes over like a lead balloon on this forum, but how much more powerful can a video game system be than a little bit more powerful than a PS3? When it's connected to a television set that's limited to 1080p? When you've reached 1080p and 60fps, what's left to do?
I'm sure the PC gamers can come up with a whole laundry list of irrelevant technical minutiae that the average person wouldn't even be able to notice, but it's not really going to make anyone run out and buy a PS4. Most gamers probably have their Xbox 360s and PS3s hooked up to HDTVs with the composite cables that came with the system.
If you can't see the diminishing returns, you're in the vast minority. At least you'll always have PC games.

Listen to your inner spirit. PS4 will be a tablet.gundamkyoukai said:As i said do people really think this guy has any idea about PS4 lol.
The only people might know something are SCEJ and maybe some devs .
Hahaha.Nirolak said:You're right, he is being too optimistic for a tablet.
They need to cut down on polys to save on power, and they want it to be thin, so it'll probably come in a bit under the Vita.

I agree. Although if it is the case, I may go hardcore PC and only buy exclusives for the sony console. Maybe.Moofers said:That's not the Sony I know. I'll believe this when I see it.
But you see, if the 3DS, Vita, iPhone, iPad, Wii U, and PS4 all have touch screens, we can just make every game use 2D clip art and be controller by touch only.GT Vespene said:What I fear is a market where the consoles are so different in terms of power and interface that it will become a fragmented mess.
Already developers depend on a multiplat format to make money on 3rd party software. If this delicate balance is altered with drastic platform diferences then 3rd parties will suffer.
Sounds like a great idea, but Sony already shift HDTVs. Why give the consumer the chance to be buying a TV and a console rolled together when you can shaft them proper and make them pay more for separate products?Momo said:What if PS4 is built into an HDTV?

We can even port the games to PC and play them with only a mouse.
Angry Birds has been downloaded over 250 million times, and Cityville is over 100 million active users. Clearly the future is upon us.
It's hardly madness when he speaks the truth. The future of "console" gaming is portability.Instro said:Nirolak is descending into madness as this thread progresses.
That's where the money is being made. If you wanted power and eye candy in gaming, you would've been playing on a PC for the last 15-20 years.duk said:shift to social and less powerful gaming

Mostly because this usually means that it is a group of old guys deciding what women want. I'd much rather see a diverse group of people developing games that they think are going to be awesome. Give more chances to the unusual in hopes that it will catch on, rather than going with the safe bet.
But obviously even though they say "women" I'm not really in the group that they're aiming for, so I can't really speak for that group.
You can bet that Microsoft is going to shoehorn some kind of awful Kinect bullshit into the 720. I have zero hope for it.duk said:may MS save us all, but who knows kinect 2.0 to power social gaming ugh

Lince said:after reading the original interview in Spanish I'm sorry to say the thread title is misleading, James Armstrong is carefully using words to not downplay current PS3 gfx power and states that their next console will focus not only on graphics but on a better online experience and delivering games for girls as they have found through some market research that girls want to own/play Playstation consoles but they think most of the games available are just not particularly enjoyable to them.
In no way he hints at the PS4 as a platform 'barely more powerful than PS3', every native Spanish speaker will read the interview as 'the focus won't be on graphics this time around', but of course they will be delivering powerful hardware again if PS Vita is anything to go by.

Krev said:Mobile technology is accelerating so rapidly that it won't be too long before Sony and Nintendo merge their handheld and console lines.
At that point, the jump in power will be less than what we're used to with a new generation, but we'll manage.
Who would honestly complain about a tablet/controller console that could be plugged into a TV and give you 1080p/60fps graphics? Wait, stupid question. I forgot how much people fear change.

In terms of raw power, sure, but it won't be putting out graphics as good as what you'll see on the PS4, for a number of reasons.Maxrunner said:LOLLOL, really?? c'mon please....My current pc will probably still be better than ps4...

This is a realistic expectation though. There's no way they'll be able to get a state-of-the-art graphics card in a set-top box that draws under 200 Watts.
