I'm almost embarrassed to say I like this band, because their fans are really fucking annoying. Not very punk of me, but I can't help it.

Dude, the Misfits are on another level of amazing (with Danzig). I don't see why you should be embarrassed that they have their merchant sold at Hot topic or whatever. Do you not listen to Alkaline Trio for that reason?

Hype sometimes diminishes the impact a certain band has on me. I can't explain why really.

I've never listened to Alkaline Trio.

Yall've probably heard these already, but really rad Crass covers by Jeffrey Lewis :

Big A, Little A
Systematic Death - He calls it System, System for some reason.
Do They Owe Us a Living

Wildly different but still very awesome reinterpretations of the originals. He put'em all out on one album, along with nine other Crass covers.

I've gone on an awesome 80s punk binge, revisiting all of my old favourites. Black Flag, Descendants, Dead Kennedys, Gang Green, Minor Threat, 7 Seconds, Angry Samoans. So rad!

Some great bands right there, going in for my second tattoo of the black flag bars at the end of march

Listen to any song off of Cuban Ballerina... it's the most straight forward punk album I guess. Their latest (Moscow Penny Ante) is back to that too. Little Brother is an amazing EP and African Elephants is pretty fucking sweet too, but the songs with Nathan (only album he sings on, he left after it) are a little different I guess.

If this song or this song doesn't get your dick hard, then Dead to Me might not be your type. Still, there's plenty of great shit out there. What kind of punk do you listen to?

New Dead to Me is pretty awesome. I liked Fucked Up's new album (I think I heard the whole thing.. all six hours of it) but I haven't really listened to a lot of their stuff (I've had Hidden World since it came out and finally gave it a proper listening to recently... that was pretty fucking cool)

THEY! GOT! ME! BY THE THROAT! Such a good song, such a good band. Especially live, I saw them a few days ago and they completely blew me away. When they played that song, Jamie (I think) from The Arteries took over bass duties for the end and Chicken jumped into the crowd with the mic. So much fun was had.

I wish there were more releases with Jack though, I love his voice, and I couldn't get into One Man Army.

How's everyone feel about Paint It Black? They came up on shuffle today and I forgot how much I love this record.

Paint It Black are awesome. Memorial Day is probably my favourite song of theirs. As is the Great Cynics version - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dumfr4d6--A

...I still find it weird calling him/them that. They're still Cynics to me.

Pennywise just unveiled their first song with Zoli Teglas as their lead singer.
Stream here: http://kroq.radio.com/2012/03/07/exclusive-pennywise-premieres-all-or-nothing-title-track-from-forthcoming-album/

And music video/backstage/in the studio fuckin around thingie here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=NzsO6p37nIg

Huh, didn't think I ever would get excited again for a new Pennywise record, but this is a really good song.

Song didn't do much for me, but I've never been a big Pennyise guy. Zoli is awesome though, Ignite's "Our Darkest Days" is really solid.

Been listening to this the past couple hours while doing accounting homework:

It's growing on me.

I never got Bad Religion, they always seemed boring to me

Different strokes for different folks :)

For me, I consider Suffer and No Control to be two of best punk albums ever made.
For anyone just getting into punk I'd recommend either of those 2 as must listens.

With that being said, I haven't been into any of the albums they've released since Gray Race.

Not even Process of Belief?

They played my house in 2008. Here's a video... http://youtu.be/hkYubWoq2Gk
Awesome.
I NEED that new Skitsystem. They posted this link on their facebook, pretty solid d-beat:

Yes! I like pretty much everything they've done so I have high hopes for their new album.
Skitsystem, Martyrdöd and Wolfbrigade all signed to Southern Lord recently and should have new albums out this year. Here's a song from the new Wolfbrigade album.
Deadly Reign sound a lot like Wolfpack.

Do you like delicious crunchy guitars? Howling? Then please listen to Screaming Females. They are on the same label as The Ergs were so you know they're good. Actually, they are the best and I don't know why they're not super famous. I saw them at the Fest in Gainesville last year and was blown away.

Here's some good-sounding youtube videos:

Also thanks everybody for reminding me that BTMI puts out a record every three seconds. I'm downloading the newest one right now.

Ha, the SF are from my town. Literally. I'm not kidding.

Alright so I like Bad Brains. A lot. A lot a lot.

I tried listening to the sex pistols, black flag, and some other punk but I keep going back to bad brains.

Recommendation?

Articles of Faith, from Chicago. They're a similar blend of hardcore, metal, and reggae.

Damn, no new posts. Has punk officially died on GAF?

Nah. Just different genres and different styles is all. I just couldn't really comment/contribute on some of the things you all posted in the past pages because it's not really my taste. I've always liked the fast harmonized stuff in the vein of Bad Religion.

Anyways, looking at the news I see that the Bouncing Souls are releasing a new album on June 12th. A new Bouncing Souls and a new Pulley album this year? Yes.

Link to the new Souls song and a hilariously stupid stream of Facebook comments

Topical: How to get signed to Rise Records http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5k8usLhB3Fc

In all fairness, the bands that I like go 'ahhhhhhhhh' or 'whoooooooaaaaaaaaaaaa' in harmonic unison while the lead singer is doing his or her thing... usually during the chorus :p

With ska, I would venture a guess that you could accurately predict 4 or 5 chords that the guitarist is going to use at a high tempo.

It's a style for a particular genre. *shrug*
