I think Valve of all people probably wants others to forget how much they fucked up with CS and CSS as an Esport.
It'll be even bigger when it goes F2P later this year. It's cool, CS:GO is huge now.
never played it. what am I missing?
Honestly, nothing.
MOBA is the worst genre of video game ever concepted.
never played it. what am I missing?
"10 years ago competitive gaming wasn't a thing." Talk about complete bullshit.
I don't care how autistic you are, you don't figure out you can go into the background by holding down on a white block the first fucking time you play the game.Poor nintendo world championships
Of course, they're all asians.
For a game that is so popular, it is amazing how long a new player has to wait for the matchmaking to create a match.
I have not played this game, simply because of that. I will hit Play and then wait for 5+ minutes before turning it off and playing something else.
If you're queuing for limited heroes that place is a graveyard because it's the worst place ever. For a game that is so popular, it is amazing how long a new player has to wait for the matchmaking to create a match.

Kind of a risky lifestyle to be glamorizing.
Valve has developed such a great model, releasing it for free, spurring interest in supporting it through a package of cool items, and kicking back a percentage to the people involved. Everyone gets free content, Valve makes a big profit, and the people who wouldn't normally see much or any cash get paid too. It's working throughout the scene, like buying tournament tickets (often with couriers included) that increase the prize pool for the pro players with every ticket bought, and player-made item sets with royalties for the creators. With such a positive, pro-consumer, hell, pro-everyone mindset, it's hard not to want to throw money at it at frequent intervals. I feel good every time I buy an item set or a tournament ticket, not ripped off.

Will it be on YouTube at the same time?
Um, I don't actually know if it will be on youtube (legally) at all. It's free on steam though and takes like 2 clicks to get at.
Funny thing. I tried tagging this as "Not HL3" and "Not Half-life 3" but Steam wouldn't let me. Heh.Valve would rather make a documentary than make Half Life 3.
The dream is dead.
God does not exist.
After watching trailer all I understood that to become dota champion you have to be school dropout.
