The games base roster can be had for like $10 bucks now. So it's worth checking out for sure. Especially since you seemed to like it from the bit you played.

Yeah, I think they didn't clamp down enough earlier in the console division reboot.
Similarly they let LEGO make a movie based game and it tanked, so they finally went 100% in on the moratorium on movie based games.
One of the most successful franchises is missing. Why would they cut Phoenix Wright? There have been 6 mainline games...

I don't think its as popular as you think it is in the West.

Yes, we're all looking at it. That's part of the reason that people are upset at the marvel side. If Marvel didn't have any worthwhile female characters that people want to see more of, they wouldn't be upset.
Go look at any other Marvel game made in the past few years (the lego ones, marvel heroes, any of their mobile games) and tell me that marvel is anti-diversity. MvC:I is the exception here.
Ignoring diversity in the past does not absolve you of ignoring diversity today. It's the definition of their fault.

Then why did it happen here? Marvel can be diverse when it can but this is not a good look when this is the Marvel Roster compare to other rosters in previous games.
It's popular enough for them to keep making games for it. There isn't that many active francishes up capcoms sleeve these days. It's basically only: monster Hunter, ace attorney, dead rising and resident evil.

For real?! Sounds like a steal to me at that price! Is this for PS4 ver.? I just checked Steam to see the price of the PC ver., and it's currently on sale there for $20 ish dollars...but it might be worth the extra $10 for free online multiplayer (assuming that the $10 price point you mentioned was for base roster of PS4 ver.)....hmmm...then again, the netcode could be shit and end up wasting my money...thankfully though, there are Steam refunds, so if I find my experience w/ online multiplayer there shitty within 2 hours, refunds are my best friend in that case! (That is, if I end up pulling the trigger on getting SFV)
Ace Attorney is one of the only notable franchises Capcom has which still gets regular releases. It's popular in Japan, but unfortunately not in North America. Still, it is definitely a more relevant series than a whole lot of the current representatives on the Capcom side.

Seeing as how DR4 bombed super hard, I'd replace that with SF in your list. SFV may have underperformed, but it's seemingly done well enough in terms of DLC and esports money that they haven't given up on it.
But really it's mostly Monster Hunter that's keeping Capcom on life support right now.

Someone over at Marvel PR fucked up that statement regardless and got the company in heated water with comic fans. Marvel PR is known for fucking up a lot of things. It also helps if Marvel would stop cancelling their books starring minorities.

Honestly I feel like there are two kinds of gaming journalists when it comes to fighting games. You've got normal journalists who are like "Hey a new fighting game is out I guess, everyone seems excited so I guess it's good? I've got other stuff to cover so whatever", and then there are enthusiast ones from places like SRK who only really care about gameplay.
So I fully expect no one to hold Capcom's feet to the fire over this.

I understand the complaint but it's Capcoms game they can put who ever they want at least for the capcom side. As for the marvel side well that's all up to them.
And my thing is...the current quagmire with trying to make Cyborg a thing could have likely been avoided if they would just get over Cyborg and went for any PoC Green Lantern, ranging from John Stewart, Simon Baz and/or Jessica Cruz, instead.
Them continuing to blackball Green Lantern in the cinema-verse, mainly because of the stench from the 2011 flick, is just hurting WB/DC more than it does anyone else.
And I still say that Lucia from DMC2 got a raw deal. Being in a bad game that's the undisputed black sheep of the franchise, shouldn't be the reason that she gets thrown out with the bathwater.
Either way, we should have had a PoC added to Dante's "femme fatale" squad a long before now..

The fact that there are individually more green, red, purple, blue, raccoon, and on fire characters than brown and black put together should be an indication of how fucking stupid this is. If skin color is arbitrary, they could've had some variety that's at least representative of people who might buy the game.
Anyway, yeah it's very reflective of both companies not having very diverse rosters, but even so, there's characters they could've included but for some reason didn't.
No Dhalsim, no Rashid, no Laura? Black Panther as DLC? lol

Well, we had voices when voting for characters, nows the time to let your voices, again be heard. I REALLY want Luke Cage in a fighting game. He could play similar to Colossus.
I doubt Marvel takes those kinds of votes into consideration for their side.

Capcom took weird steps backwards on this stuff this type this generation. They were never like super great but SF4 was pretty tame until the final patch (which came out in the XB1/PS4 era if I remember correctly) but SFV is like Dead or Alive vs SF4.
I don't know if the barely any women rule is a Marvel thing, a Capcom thing, or two birds of a feather flocking together but it seems weird. Black Widow not being in this makes no sense considering how many billion dollar movies she's been prominent in. If it counts for anything, the women in MvC aren't porned up like SFV. Maybe that's progress or maybe they're saying if they can't look like porn stars then they won't be in the game.

Silk could be such an interesting addition to the game, with the nature of her webspinning. They could do so much with her.
Ms. Marvel, too. So much potential with her powers.

Im glad Skrulls aren't in this I dislike that race. Give me the Fantastic Four as individual characters rather than Super Skrull. Im surprised they didn't shove an Inhuman into the game maybe do another animal being and put in LockJaw.
Iron Fist & Daredevil are more important than any of the characters you mentioned.
