Finally managed to get the plat! Keeping my plat all games I play in 2017 streak alive.
I'm only obsessive for games I absolutely love so 2017 has just been that stellar int hat regard making me want to plat everything I played so far(Nier,Nioh,Y0,Severed).

Ready for Kiwami!

I think tonight will be my last night with Yakuza 0. Going to finish Real Estate and maybe Pocket Circuit which should put me at over 50% completion.

My copy of Persona 5 came today, so I guess it'll be a while before I can get back to finish everything. Excited to start P5, but also wish I didn't have to leave Yakuza.

Phew I feel like I'm getting burned out by the huge "mini"games of chapters
6 and 7
. I finished the
real estate
storyline and now I honestly don't feel like spending as much time with
the cabaret
. Wonder if I should just rush through the story missions and finish everything left in the adventure mode when I feel like it.

Yeah, don't feel obligated to get through everything. A few chapters down the road you won't have much time or inclination to do sidestories anyway since the chapters get shorter and the story goes into 5th gear. I didn't finish real estate or cabaret and am enjoying doing them now in Premium at my own pace.

Its the best way to handle things. I space things out as best as I can on each chapter, sometimes I'll get distracted and focus for hours on side stuff but I always found that its best not to overdo it else you could potentially get burnt out.

Ready for Kiwami!

Congrats! I still can't believe Kiwami is coming out this year. If it sucks me in half as much as Yakuza 0, I'm in trouble. lol

Thanks. Haha same. I'm super psyched for Kiwami's story cause I never played the original. I'm scared like you but more because that I might end up liking Kiwami so much again that I want to plat it too. I got more hunger for yakuza but my spirit to plat is a bit battered, these games really ask a lot out of people on that front. Need to recharge. I've heard a lot though that Kiwami is a small step down from Y0 feature wise. That said I don't really care but it's always good to have expectations that match with reality.

For what it's worth, the
cabaret
is MUCH better than the other.

About 20 hours in, and probably near the end of Chapter 7.

I've only done a little bit of the mini games, but jesus what a time sink. I could play for 200 hours and don't think id be able to complete them all. I could easily sink 30-40 hrs into Mahjong alone. I love playing it in real life.

Defeated Mr. Shakedown twice last night so I've got a stack of money now. I'm still having a bit of trouble with the cabaret management, the girls seem to be tired alot? How do I fill their energy up again?

The saddest and worst part about knowing how the time skip from 0->1 happens.
All those porn actresses that "NEED" majima to survive are gonna have to turn to porn after he goes back to the Yakuza without saying a word

Solaire of Astora

Death by black JPN
I like him. Just not nearly as much as I like Akiyama or Majima.

Relative newcomer here(played a bit of yakuza 4, enjoyed it, then decided to wait for zero and kiwami before hopefully finishing 4 and 5 in time for the English release of 6), and I have to agree. I like Kiryu, but Majima and Akiyama (the only two other characters I've played as so far) are just much more interesting.

Give them some rest/day-off you monster!
:p

Sorry, how do I do that exactly? For real estate, there's a timer countdown and also an alert that tells me to collect my payout.

For cabaret club management there doesn't seem to be anything to tell me when the girls are fully rested. Do I just have to move the story along? Or do I just hire more girls and rotate through them?

Exactly this. Just let them rest for one session and they're all fine again.

Also, the third Platinum hostess you get has near infinite stamina.

I'm just surprised how old they are. So Ai is like in her mid-40s in the videos I've seen?

They'll come back fully rested if you give them a night off or they are absent a night. Their mood is indicated on the list of hostesses by a smiley/frowny face, same as the one for customers in the minigame.

What I did - got a bunch of the bronze and silver hostesses from the shrine. Then before doing a club battle, I'd do a night with just my lowest ranked girls, so my main crew was good going into the battle.

Ah ok. I only had 4 hostesses last night. But I hired 3 more using completion points but haven't tried again, so thanks I'll do as you suggested.

Seems like its way easier making money via real estate though, whereas club management is a lot more hands on like a diner dash style mini game.

Yeah i was getting a lot of red messages saying they were tired.

I haven't had any club battles that I'm aware of yet.

You can find some random girls in the street that you can recruit if you give them expensive presents as well. You can't really miss them, they stand out.

Also, some characters from completed substories will join you as hostess, you can see them waiting around your club, where you can talk to them.

And yeah, you don't make nearly as much money on a regular basis, but whenever you take down one of the other clubs you get a huge wad of cash, while you get no reward money at all for taking down one of the Real Estate dudes. Also, Majima's combat abilities cost significantly less than Kiryu's.

Yeah i was getting a lot of red messages saying they were tired.

Whenever the girls run out of health during an ongoing session, either give them a present or, if they just need a small boost, thank them when a customer is done, or, a very efficient method, learn those hand gestures. If you get her request right before she has to explicitly tell you what she needs, she gets a big HP boost, the customer's mood increases and you get a small money bonus.

^ oh awesome didn't know any of that.

Any particular presents that work well? Oh I can just buy some candy gift box from the convienence store.

The recruitable street-hostesses all explicitly tell you what kind of presents they want, a coat, purse, watch etc. all stuff from Le Marche, but you probably have some of those already from the Dream Machines.

If you're talking about the presents to give your hostesses to boost their HP during an ongoing session...those aren't actual in-game items. You simply choose to give them a present in a multiple choice menu and a set amount of money is subtracted from your earnings.

Thanks everyone, I'll try to pace myself better and not do everything at once. Game is way too good to let myself get burned out midway through by doing stuff I don't enjoy as much. I'm happy if I plat it by the end of the year or something.

Do you guys use guides to look for substories? I was thinking of using one because it's annoying walking around and not finding one.
It's perfectly fine to use one. I'd recommend using during the Premium Adventure when you want to clean up. It's far more satisfying to naturally discover a substory by yourself during the maingame. Makes it feel more cohesive.

Don't know if it's been mentioned before but you can also get hostesses from doing sub-stories. Obatarian is a beast of a hostess.

I only used a guide to mop up the couple that I'd missed, but that was a Japanese wiki so its not exactly the best guide to follow (it doesn't Google translate brilliantly!) But I could probably dig up the link if you'd like?

eh. i don't care about akiyama, prolly coz i didn't play 4 and majima is a crazy dude but not a cooler character than kiryu in my opinion.

Suddenly it all makes sense.

Play it dude, I fell in love with Akiyama in literally the first 20 minutes. Dude was so suave and had such an air of mystery to him that kinda stayed throughout the entire game.

Hmmm, that sounds familiar... (Persona 5 side activity spoilers)

What is this heresy?!

Seriously man, I know it takes a while for it to get to Kiryu parts, but you really need to play it.

if it somehow becomes playable on Ps4 then sure I'll give it a shot. It'd take waaaaay too much effort to go and play it on Ps3 for me now.

I'm doing premium adventure, and I believe I have to use wait option to look for substories that occurs at day, at evening, or at night.

Will this guide work? Here

The only problem is I'm doing premium adventure, and I don't know if some substories occurs at day, evening, or night.

I feel so blessed not having played the Yakuza games when they were released and gave this a try. Easily one of my favorite games of the year. And lucky for me, I downloaded Y4 and Y5 when it was free for PS3 on PSN. Now I'm not sure if I should play them or wait till Kiwami comes out first.

Looks like a decent guide, I remembered that KHHSubs also did a brilliant guide as well:
http://www.khhsubs.com/rggzero/substories.html

But yeah, I don't think that guide lists the time of day side stories start which is a tad annoying.

I gotta say, I'm going to recommend to anyone who hasn't played both Persona 5 and Y0 that they play P5 first, then Yakuza. Because coming off of the stellar translation in Y0, Persona 5 is a bit rough. Some of the smaller UI elements and mechanics feel a bit clunky compared to Yakuza also. The Y0 map is soooo much better. Even walking around the city is better. Not that I'm hating Persona or anything, but it feels less refined.

I'd wait for Kiwami, then play 4 and 5 if you feel like it. And then 6 when it comes out. I haven't played any of those, but I assume you'd be spoiling some things if you play 4 and 5 before 1.

Just finished the story. THAT was fucking awesome.

Ending spoiler thoughts/questions:

I...really kind of got to like Sagawa by the end? I totally didn't see his assassination coming, but I guess that's because I haven't played the other games. He got killed in response to Shimano killing that Omi guy in the prior cutscene, correct?

It's 41% off :p

A lot of characters in the game are characters that only appear in 0.

Sagawa is one of them. Yeah, he got killed because him and Shimano's attempt at toppling the Tojo Clan lead to a guy getting killed. Because the Omi guy only really went because of Sagawa and the person that killed him was a Tojo Clan member, the blame falls solely on Sagawa for letting this happen.

Correct.

Shimano was his sworn brother. It's almost certain that the Omi came on board with Shimano's plan with Sagawa acting as a liasion. When Shimano decided to run back to the Tojo's good graces and protection, Sagawa was left by himself to pick up the pieces. There had to be repercussions for such a colossal fuck up.

Cool. I'm doing a lot more sub stories this time around. But there are still so many... I've done about 15 for Kiryu and about 10 for Majima.

I think the stories here are fun and interesting but most of the 'gameplay' in the substories haven't been much more than fetch quests or beating up dudes.

The main story is also significantly better this time so as im limited in time I also find myself wanting to do that more than the sub stories.

I know you're a huge fan of Yakuza 3 and it is indeed a good game, but Yakuza 4 really knocked it out of the park in terms of reinventing the series with multiple protaganists and fighting styles. If you're in Yakuza for the narrative its definitely worth a play thru and there are some bits that tie back to Y0.

Also Tanimura's chapter is really well done and isn't available in other Yakuza titles.

Ah... that's too bad.

After 3, it needed to be. :p
awe man, 3 was so good.
I see your point lol.

But Yakuza 3 really is one of those games that you think isn't that good at first but as time passes and you look back on it, you realize it was a lot better than people give it credit for.
yeah i liked 3.

i liked dead souls too, though the game play controls was so wack. the story and characters drove me to buy it. i wanted more yakuza after 3+4

I give it a lot of shit because of orphans, CIA twins and Kiryu's ugliest model yet but really, I understand it was their first forte into the HD age and I was very impressed by their effort. Game's just the red-headed stepchild that I like to tease.

Don't hate it, just disappointed.

And really, *that* ending would've been fantastic way to cap off Kiryu's legend.
awe man, 3 was so good.
You're dead to me.
