As any customer of Nintendo's various DD services can tell you, they certainly aren't lacking in great software. Unfortunately, what they do lack is a great interface to show off that software. That's where GAF comes in!

Included below is a list of recommendation and review threads to give you a few ideas about where to spend your Nintendo Points - and where not to!

Nintendo will occasionally make new Channels available through the Wii Shop, or update the system firmware of the Wii and DSi with new features. Any new Channels or updates will be listed here.

Virtual Console

FATAL FURY 3: ROAD TO THE FINAL VICTORY
Original platform: NEOGEO
Publisher: D4 Enterprise
Players: 1-2
ESRB Rating: T (Teen) – Violence
Price: 900 Wii Points

Description: Originally released in 1995, this is the fourth title in the Fatal Fury series of beat-'em-up games. Previous releases in the series used a two-plane battle system allowing you to move and fight between the foreground and background. This game features a three-plane format – foreground, background and main plane – known as the Oversway System. Characters will automatically move back to the main line after a certain period of time in the foreground or background planes. Other new features include Combination Arts (the ability to execute combo attacks with simple rhythmic button taps), Hidden Abilities (superior versions of the popular Special Moves and Super Special Moves from previous installments) and minor tweaks to all of the characters' Special Moves. As a result, this installment offers the deepest strategies and tactics in the Fatal Fury series to date.

...and done.

Perhaps a mod might like to add Shantae into the thread title for this week, just to celebrate?

I don't think you even have to ask her to do it, she probably would anyways! :p

Nice to see a VC game, and a Neo Geo one at that! Shantae will be purchased once I get a 3DS, I absolutely love the graphics in it.

GAF's hype makes me wanny buy that game. Hopefully it's worth it, never bought over 500 points in DSiWare

Meant to pick up some points for Shantae, because I love adding to my backlog of games.
I'm pretty sure I have a few more levels before I finish Mighty Flip Champs. >_>

Forgot to mention earlier:

I've added a small section for 3DS news, as we should start to hear more about 3DSWare, transfer of DSiWare and the Virtual Console service for GB/GBC games over the next few months and I thought it would be worthwhile adding news here.

Can anyone suggest anything I've missed, or anything else that should be added to the OP? I'm going to try a revamp soon so it's an ideal time for me to try and incorporate any suggestions.

Apologies again for the slow updates these past couple of months. Twin girls are proving to be quite a challenge, and I've just found out we'll be adding to our workload come next June as my wife is expecting again!

man.. DSiWare is going to be rocking by the time I get my 3DS... awesome!!

edit - nice VC title also. Wish we'd get more than one title every other week though :(

another meh week. why am i even checking these threads.

*yawn*

is there a EU date for shantae?
please
Has there been any mention at all that Shantae will be released in Europe, or is it just assumed that we are waiting for Nintendo to find a hole in their busy *ahem* schedule?

This. I don't think they've ever mentioned anything about Europe. Which is a damn shame.
Mighty Flip Champs took like four months before it was out in Europe.

What are the best DSiware games available or coming soon?
Most/all of the Art Style games are pretty good.

Zenonia is a good action RPG loot/quest game.

Pinball Pulse is a good pinball game.

Dark Void Zero is a good retro NES platformer/shooter.

Aura-Aura Climber, Spotto, Mighty Flip Champs, etc. There's a lot more up there than GAF would generally lead you to.

My favorites:
Mighty Flip Champs!
Spotto!
Bird and Beans
Brain Age Express: Sudoku
A Kappa's Trail
Game and Watch: Chef

And while they are not games, Flipnote Studio, and Art Academy

I'm betting Shantae is going to get up there, too

I have no wireless at my apartment, so when I go get my Castlevania copy from my parents tomorrow, Shantae will be mine!

I can personally vouch for:

everything ArtStyle
everything by Q-games (nintendo-published)
a few of the Nintendo entries (Minis March Again, Aura Aura)
Metal Torrent
Pinball Pulse
DodoGo!
Pop Island & PI: Paperfield
Dark Void Zero
Chronos Twins
Bomberman Blitz
Drift Street International
Pop+ Solo
Rayman

All of the above are excellent titles, albeit some of those require predisposition to the respective genre.

So how is it ? Are there any video review out there ?

Yay! I just got Shantae! :D

I like:

- Mighty Flip Champs
- X-Scape/3D Space Tank
- 10 Second Run
- Trajectile/Reflect Missile
- Metal Torrent
- A ton of the Artstyle stuff
- Dragon Quest Wars
- Little Red Riding Hood's Zombie BBQ

Shantae is really amazing considering that it's DSiWare! Like a long lost AAA GBA or SNES game! I'd pay full price for a retail version of this!

I wish other developers did more ambitious games like this like Capcom, Konami, Scamco, etc. And even Nintendo.

Thanks to WayForward for finally giving DSi owners a game that makes DSiWare not a complete disappointment.

Thing is, it's not worth the trouble. I think a lot of Shantae was already done for the GBA version, so they had a bunch of assets lying around already? Which would make it much easier to finish it up for DSi release.

Only a very small percentage of DSi owners actually hook theirs up to wifi and download games. Putting a ton of money into it to make a AAA game is not worth it that way.

I know this may sound shocking to some, but I know a handful of DSi owners who consider DSiWare the highlight of the system.

I think DSiWare has been somewhat of a disappointment. But Shantae changes all that.

Well umbrella statements like your first post are kinda more about you then. For one, I love Pictobits and such.
