Titanfall boosts Xbox One UK sales by 96%, Tea and Crumpets for all!

Saint Titanfall
It was a bad point, I admit that, but I do understand statistics.

Fair enough, it's just when people say that, it plays a lot on peoples perception of statistics, since you already get a lot of people disregarding them due to small sample number.

Pretty much why I bothered to point that out.

TF must have sold a million when including PC. A million units is nothing.

Not bad for a new IP In a week. Also Titanfall released on Friday in the uk so the track time was very small.

So we don't have a clue what the number is, why release a cryptic statement? will MS put people out of their misery?

It's a new IP. It's still way to early to conclude anything. If Titanfall has a good word to mouth, it will help tremendously. Even CoD4 started out slow, at least compared to how big it eventually would become.

Again Charttrack never give numbers publicly. It could be absolutely amazing for all we know but releasing that number isn't their responsibility.

TF must have sold a million surely. The majority of the 125k will be XBO. So there are still PC sales to be added to that then the rest of the world.

If it has sold a million that's a 33% is attach rate (assuming 3.5m HW) WW for a online only game. I just don't expect that and would have expected PR had it happened.

EDIT: Scrub that, forgot to factor PC. Would still have expected something if 1m copies has been sold.

What about the PC?

Maybe MS is iffy about muddying their Titanfall PR with PC numbers.

They'd rather Xbox* than 'all Microsoft platforms* or 'Xbox and PC.'

Reaching a million sales shouldn't be a problem for the XB1 SKU anyway, even Dead Rising 3 could do* it. ( shipped )

Like someone said before, when you have Vita sales climbing to 1000% increases on certain occasions, it's hard to take 94% seriously without some context numbers. With the high price and abundance of Xbones in the UK, I'd imagine the bump wasn't as great as the percentage makes it sound, but we'll see.

96 percent of a small number?, haven't we seen sales of consoles boosted by 1000% in the past with release of titles.

Those consoles tend to sell in the tens of thousands so any notable boost is magnified significantly. Xbox One already sold in the millions so any boost won't be as big as say 30k > 1.3 million

I could be entirely wrong on this but I'm pretty sure thats numbers goes. We need exact numbers.

IF the sales turn out to not be that great for this game, what do you guys blame? New IP? Lack of single player? Platform exclusivity? I know all three of these probably hurt the game, but what do you guys think has the potential to hurt it the most?

Not really comparable since we know those Vita numbers were absolutely horrible, and possible down to three or four digits before the increase.

The sales looks great, more than 120k in the first week (in UK only).

As opposed to what? Possible weekly sales of ~10k or less for Xbone in the UK? It's not selling well itself.

The PR silence from MS/EA thus far has been pretty deafening the past week, actually.

Has there been nothing from any of them yet? "Hundreds of thousands" quotes aside?

Not quite, its in the EA/Respawn contract that due to EA bankrolling the studio & Titanfall development, Respawn dont start collecting "profits" until a "certain threshold" has been hit.

Granted nobody knows what that figure is? but the deal was done before the MS exclusivity deal so I'd imagine a million units(if its sold that already?) sold wouldn't quite trigger that threshold as we all know EA aint no charity.

This is good news for Microsoft.

Aaaaaand.

This is horrible news for Microsoft.

Good, because... well... the console is selling more and the game is working as a killer application.

Horrible, because they are actually creating a fan base on a game they do NOT own and which most probably will end up (maybe even in a better shape) on the concurrent console (that is, PS4, you know).

All in all, a very delicate situation for Microsoft.

Microsoft will pull a CoD with the next Titanfall.
It won't matter if TF2 runs at 60fps@1080p on ps4 and 60fps@900p on XB1. Microsoft will buy timed exclusivity for DLC and that's enough excuse for people to get the game on that console.

#ImpossiblyHighStandards

Wouldn't you agree that Titanfall's bar of standards is set to that exact hashtag?

Glowing praise, ridiculous social media/gaming press love, first-in-class marketing push, and platform bundling that's essentially giving away the game for free if you buy the console.

If Titanfall was a fall 2014 release instead of the first March post-console launch, if it failed to sell a million within 24 hours, I'd call that weak.

But since it's only been 5 months or so since launch, it's understandable if it hasn't hit a million yet. Especially on the platform's that doing not as well globally.

The usual apology I read here at GAF was "They wait a week before releasing data". I dont know if thats a good sign though.

Wasn't enough in case of BF4. Xbox One userbase is the smallest of all platforms http://bf4stats.com

Hmm not massive hit. I was suspect it can catch up PS4 LTD.

Still little disappointment on my expectation, maybe not bad with the dangerous price.

Hopefully MS realizes that it's not just the game that is responsible for this but also the effective price cut of the bundle. If the price was right I'd have an XBO already.

Since when? Because they didn't even wait for the end of XB1 launch day to claim "1M sold, every retailer sold-out" left and right.

The game did only release on Friday in some markets, they don't usually release PR statements on a weekend. I assume they will be releasing numbers this week.
