Found Elrond council for 20€ yesterday, which is a good price I guess. The lips on that Arwen minifig are hilarious, and awesome :)

Hey, let's talk about sets and themes we don't like!

-Technic anything
-Chima
-Bionicle/Hero Factory things
-Architecture Sets
-Ninjago
-Pretty much every Creator set that isn't minifig scale or is an animal
-Microscale polybags

Basically, I like everything to be minifig scale. Ninjago and Chima are just way too over the top in their designs for me to give them anything more than a glance. The technic stuff is just not my thing, although I appreciate the larger sets for what they are able to achieve through design.

As an outsider, the only major themes that completely turn me off from what I've seen are Duplo and Friends. I also haven't really shown interest in in City or Ninjago, but less because of the themes and more because of the individual sets.

Oh, and TMNT and LotR/Hobbit, because I'm not into either franchise.

You can get £5 off orders over £30 from toys r us by using code BIRTHDAY2. Plus it's free delivery.

So I've just got The Joker Steamroller for £35. Plus from amazon I've also bought The Bat vs Bane for £27 and The Lego Movie Cycle Chase for £32. Then last night I for some reason decided I wanted all lego super hero minifigs, regardless of whether I know of them or not. So I got the VW Campervan from the Lego shop as they are still have Martian Manhunter in stock. I was going to wait till a double VIP points month but that is the cheapest thing I want.

All that over the last 24 hours! : s

What are some good Lego related sites with reviews of sets?

I normally visit brothers brick, but more for interesting models and not news and reviews.

Is brick fan a good one?

yeah I would also like some sites that do reviews, prefereabbly written reviews since I read them at work

Was passing by Westfield Stratford (well, I was on the Central line at least) so I decided to pop in as I had a set in mind I wanted. The wall didn't have too much new stuff last week but they had said new stuff was coming so I was hoping.

Good news is new stuff is being put out. Bad news for me is that they were in the middle of it so I don't know the entirety of what is going out.

New parts I saw;

Trans-black Windscreen 8 x 4 x 2 with 4 Studs and Handle
Light Bluish Grey Wedge, Plate 6 x 3 Left
Light Bluish Grey Wedge, Plate 6 x 3 Right
Black Engine, Smooth Small, 1 x 2 Side Plate with Axle Holders and Slot

Staff said parts useful for airplanes will be making their way onto the wall.

I also got my fist Microfighter; Millennium Falcon. Nice set, fun build and good parts. I think I'll mod it to take out the space for Han but I can see the theme having better legs than Planets.

Should I wait or bite on Dol Guldor? it's 26% off

Get it. It is a fairly good discount, and you get quite a few unique mini figs in the set.

On a similar note, I have a BN Member 20% off coupon if anyone wants it. Works in stores, which many should have new Super Hero sets in stock. Just PM me with your email address and I can send it.

The LEGO Movie "Everything is Awesome" edition is now being listed at Walmart:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/35715605

First off, the price should drop dramatically prior to release. Second, they state a release date of August 12th. I think that is a placeholder.

Went to check Amazon and they have the 3D Blu set but no mention of the figurine. Curiously enough, its MSRP is the same as the Walmart listing as well as no date.

I'll probably preorder off Amazon once more details are known.

Hmm maybe Walmart exclusive. They did that recently with Frozen.

Over a month after I ordered them, the parts for the stay puft marshmallowman showed up, I spent a bit of time on it this week and got a foot and part of a leg done, bit concerned I didn't order enough parts but I'll have to wait and see, the biggest challenge is the roundness of the arms and legs. I think I have a solution for the legs, the arms will be tricky though as their diameter is much smaller, making it more difficult to get a nice curve to it. I'll post WIP pics when I'm happy with the legs.

Just stepped in to the Burbank TRU to use my 20% off coupon and I'm leaving totally disgusted. They have the Lex Luthor Power Armor selling for the "HOT PRICE!" of $27.99 and the Star Wars A-Wing Starfighter for the "HOT PRICE!" of $34.99, both almost $10 over MSRP. Jesus Christ TRU I'm this close to never buying Lego from them again.

They had Shredder's Lair for $51.99, I can't find it anywhere else though, is that the normal price of the set?

Reminds me of my experience a month ago when first looking for Legos at toys r us

Should use the coupon on some LEGO Movie sets. Like their exclusive Rescue Reinforcement. They sell it at MSRP, and it is only there and LEGO Stores.

They already do with purchase of certain LEGO merchandise. Walmart had the Iron Patriot with purchase of video game. GameStop has had a couple I think.

But they weren't for the same product though, were they? They were all for different games I thought. Wal Mart was the only one with a Marvel figure. Gamestop had the LOTR and Luthor figures. No game or DVD so far has had different retailer exclusives for the same title have they?

Just curious.

Oh, different minifigs for same product. My bad. I misunderstood. Build on and may your collection grow. (Working on a catchphrase :) Maybe just, "Build on, dude.")

Well, retailers usually get exclusive packaging for DVD/Blu releases. And Star Trek Into Darkness set a dangerous precedent of having exclusive special features per retailer. And not the "bonus disc with an extra 30 minutes" type either. Like the only way to get commentary was with the iTunes version.

It wouldn't shock me if they did make retailer exclusive minifigures for the movie. After all, they did it for theaters.

FYI my Lego store put a lot of the Lord of the Rings/Hobbit on clearance today. No not the tower, but Gobin King, the boat one, and some others. Seeming like they were trying to make room.

Small ball joints are such a huge game changer. LEGO definitely needed to do this to compete with "clone" brands.

My favorite is the light blue guy in the middle about to stomp on the Nixel "dog".

Those are awesome.

I am excited for series 2 of the Mixels. I think they look better than series one.

Wait are those fan-made? Or the clone brands? The one in the middle on the bottom is AWESOME.

Also, I'm doing some work and listening to the DuckTales Remastered OST, and it occurs to me that Lego making DuckTales sets would be AMAZING. I don't claim to have any inside knowledge of future events or anything... but it should... happen...

- Money Bin with Scrooge, Beagle Boys, Flintheart
- McDuck Mansion with Scrooge, #1 Dime, Ms Beakley, Webbigale, Huey Dewey & Louie
- Scrooge's Car with Scrooge, Duckworth, one of the nephews or maybe Donald
- Gyro's Shack with Gyro Gearloose, Huey Dewey and Louie or Gizmoduck
- Launchpad's Plane (the standard red bi-plane) with Launchpad, Doofus
- Magica's Hut - Magica Dispell, Flintheart, Magica's crow
- Junior Woodchuks Minifig Set - Huey Dewey & Louie, Doofus, all in JWC garb

They could even do some "generic" sets like a bank robbery with the Beagle Boys, Gizmoduck, etc.

FFFFFFF if I was any good at MOCs I would totally put together some sets and submit them to CUUSOO.

Fan made. Expect a LOT of new MOCs with Mixels. Really a big game changer for LEGO. Only issue I have is the range of motion of the ball joints.

Old Disney cartoon sets might happen if there is a new cartoon series or movie. There needs to be a market driver like for LEGO to consider it.

" The problem was that they had these successes from Star Wars and Harry Potter, but those successes were really only successful in years in which there was a movie. So there was a Star Wars movie in 1999 and 2002. There was a Harry Potter movie in 2001 and 2002. There was no movie from either franchise in 2003 or the first half of 2004. Sales of those two toys fall off a cliff, and LEGO is left with one profitable product, Bionicle."

Only when there are corresponding shows huh? Hmm.. guess I'll just have to... wait then...

So is the current Lego Star Wars collection only profitable/successful because of the show? Or did it just take a while to catch on and now it sells regardless?

Those Mickey sets are crazy, they look like Duplo? I never knew they existed :O

I guess I could always CUUSOO a DuckTales set. I mean BTTF got one, and Ghostbusters got one (though that one has a 30th Anniversary happening so I guess that helps)

My wife had to go to WalMart tonight for something. I asked her to see if they had The Joker Steamroller. I was totally in luck! They finally had one.

Such a great build on the steamroller. One of my favs of 2014 so far. The BatWingis interesting, and the linking of the wings to the main body kind of reminds me of Kai's Fighter from Ninjago, but I'm not really feeling it. I liked the one from Battle Over Gotham City better.

Overall though, a great set, and totally worth it!

Poor Robin.

I will wait for a good sale on that one. I definitely want it, but it can wait. Nice to see the return of the pimp hat with that Joker minifig.

JANG's Flashback Friday for March 21st has two sets:

6630 Bucket Loader (1980)

http://youtu.be/-6YqqBIk-Y8

I had neither of these sets, as by the time the Astro Dasher was released in 1985, I was (sadly in retrospect) no longer into LEGO.

I think I had that one, or at least something similar. Man, LEGO sets were so much simpler back then and I loved it with the few pieces I had in the beginning.

I bought an extra quinjet at TRU. They price matched me down to $60, which was cool. Also got that big blue Creator 3-in-1 plane (31011 I think) for $30 at walmart last night.

In other news, I now have minifig series 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, and Movie, all complete! Just need 8 and 1.

And I guess since this is my first post in this thread, my other lego accomplishments are:
Every single Lego Movie set (incl. Sea Cow), promo item (incl. all promo minifigs & polybags), and minifig. I also have a near-complete collection of every single Creator 3-in-1 set. Also a near-complete set of Batman sets (post ~2009), iron man, and Spider-Man. I've got two modular buildings (grand emporium and firehouse), and the Simpsons house. I have a bunch more I'm not mentioning, but that's a lot of it.

Also, I only started collecting about 3 months ago, lol.

Wow ! I only got this in 3 months :

I thought my addiction was bad but yours is quite something too, congratulations :)

That's disgusting. Assholes indeed.

Going through my old photos and found this one. I thought it would be appropriate for newcomers.

FliXFantatier LEGO Bricklink Millennium Falcon 10179-1 10179 Millenium Milenium

By the power of Bricklink

Photos and words just don't do its size justice. It is freaking enormous!

It's also fabulous! Looks great and such fun to build. :D

crappy pictures are crappy, I think this calls for getting my DSLR out of the closet.

What on earth set did that purple suit and hat come from!?!

Also I wasn't really getting the scale of the Falcon until the last pic with the controller. Holy shit.

Not to be "that guy" but I think you built it mirrored...

Can any help please. I've just get a Lego hulk in the post and for some reason I've got a funny feeling it could be a custom figure. Does anyone know how to tell the difference between a real one and a fake one? Thank you

the set has just under 500 pieces so that sounds close to what it should be. TRU themselves are selling this set for $54.99 on ebay (and you can't use the 20% off coupon there!) so 51.99 sounds good.

after coupon and tax I think I paid $43 for shredder's lair... you do the math :p

Being TRU (and LEGO store) exclusive, highly doubt it will get cheaper until clearance time. Unless TRU gives us bigger coupons? :p

How is this possible! Are there reverse instructions online or something?

Also R2 is coming together slowly. Doing a bag every couple of days to get more time with it. I'll probably finish it off this weekend though. So of the details are really nice. The mechanism for releasing the 3rd leg is pretty freakin clever!
