I love third person shooters, but they do need to be dynamic. Uncharted's combat sandboxes for example, think the ship graveyard, are very open and contain lots of verticality. Add decent AI and you have great cat and mouse type combat encounters.
That's what this game needs as well. More open, dynamic scenario's. That or RE4 quality design. I still have faith in RAD, but they do need to show something more substantial at E3.

- great smoke, particles and debris in explosions
- great looking lighting
- cool coat physiques

- gears of uncharted steampunk edtion (which aint a bad thing, I was and still am hoping it can be more )
- from what we have seen it looks like a good shooter with some fancy graphical elements
- the game looks kind of sparse
- This sonys flagship title with AAA visuals and they choose to show it only on twitch???? why?

there will be more to it now that I remember. RAD hasn't done a good job showing it.
The game has:
detective elements
third person shooting
maybe dead space like combat with monsters
exploration (going by the art)
should be pretty diverse
it's exclusive.

I don't get why people are being so hard on this game for the TPS/cover aspect of it. FPS games haven't changed much in 20 years and I don't hear many complaints over how they're just about shooting reloading and throwing grenades. The gameplay certainly doesn't look revolutionary, but it doesn't look bad by any means.

You're not going to see "brutal A.I." in a demo, everyone always points out pretty much all demos are played on easy to show off.
I agree with you when it comes to the 2nd or 3rd iteration in a franchise. I just had high hopes for this game/franchise to be something other than a great looking cover shooter. Especially at the start of a new gen, following a console generation that went on for far to long. Everything they've shown so far looks like more of the same in a new setting. But hey, that was 3 minutes and there might be zeppelin chases and carriage riding for all I know.

No co-op alone make it a bad Gears of War clone. Gameplay looks like it was inspired by Duck Hunt.
It looks like the thermite gun has some serious recoil to me.

This. I freaking love what they're going for with this.
Why do you keep saying that it's last year's footage? The level itself is probably the same as the GI shots sure, but there could easily have been enhancements during that time.

We've seen a couple minutes of solid gun play at most (probably closer to a minute). I'm not quite sure how people are drawing a "Gears clone" conclusion outside of the aesthetics.
I'm not saying it isn't or cannot be, just that I feel we've barely seen anything on the gun play of the game.
Either this is a masterpiece in sarcasm, or the most ridiculously hyperbolic statement on GAF today.
