Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 8: Put mii in, coach

Man over the years I've gotten really tired of seeing the likes of Fox in all these streams. If anybody is OP in this new game I hope it's somebody more fun like...Yoshi or something

I fight seamonsters.

Are they still on the boat?

It just dawned on me that in a fortnight or so, we'll know a lot of the changes in how the returning characters play, and I'd imagine a blowout of other information, possibly a release date (or a delay...), and also some new fighters as well.

If all the stages so far revealed, including Pyrosphere are playable in the demo build of the game, we could be finding out what Ridley's fate is in the next two weeks of updates as well before E3, if he really is just a stage hazard after all this time.

I'm trying not to get too excited but...I totally have a little countdown timer on my phone and I can't wait.

Ike was one of my favourite characters in Brawl. It's great that he's back. I hope Fire Emblem's newfound popularity, means we'll get a new character too though. Me and I guess quite a few people learned about FE because of Awakening. A character from it needs to happen, especially since characters like Roy managed to be in previous games... Lucina, Female Avatar, Chrom, Frederick... I really don't care. I just need a FEA character.

You do realize that the top tiers are "boring" because you see them all the time while the low tiers are more "exciting" because you don't, right...

That was kinda the point I was making...I hope the top tier characters are ones that are historically low tier so they'll at least be fresh to watch (at least at first) okay?

I cannot wait to play as Little Mac. So hype for him.

Also, Pit looks so much better now. His new upper-arm, recovery and that fucking amazing Final Smash make him look so much more viable.

Sacred Treasures, genius.

Same here. I'm hyped for all newcomers and revised veterans. They are going to give Smash a refresh feeling where we felt that it's completely new game. :)

This. I really feel like you can feel Namco's involvement through the changes to veterans. Most of the changes that they're making (Dedede's Gordos, no transformations, etc.) make the game work better as a fighting game, yet they're not taking the fun/silliness out of the game.

Tried my hand at updating Ryce's character prediction chart now to add in Ike, simply because it's always the character list I find myself referring back to the most.

I don't know why, but for some reason I twinge a bit when I see rosters that don't have G&W, ROB, and Wii Fit Trainer in some sort of group formation.

In my head they are the "Hardware" set, and thus should be in the same column or row or something.

This.

What's even worse is that people continue to make Ridley some big deal. He isn't some special character. I honestly wish both sides of this stupidness don't don't get what they want. So Sakurai should make Other M Ridley playable.

I do get where you are coming from but I don't quite agree with that. Ridley is certainly no Bowser, Ganondorf, or King Dedede but he isn't just some obscurity either.

Metroid is very much a niche series but despite it selling only a fraction of the other big titles Nintendo deems it fit to be continued and Sakurai gives the Metroid franchise a lot of respect within Smash. And while he never saw Ridley as logical choice for being playable he certainly has seen value in him with an appearance in each Smash so far with said appearances growing each time.

Nintendo fans clamor for Metroid despite no one buying the darn games but it's characters certainly have a following. Ridley has a big presence in the Metroid titles, much more so than someone like King K Rool does for Donkey Kong and just last generation Ridley had 3 major appearances. One in Corruption, one in Other M, and twice in Smash Bros it's self. Not to mention his appearance in Nintendo Land even.

Ridley doesn't have to be a Bowser or a Ganondorf as far as cultural status, but I say he stands with the likes of other B tier franchises like Mother, Star Fox and Fire Emblem very well.

I mean if Ridley wasn't a big deal to people then chances are we wouldn't see so many people being so darn vocal about it. Of course the controversy between fans and his size makes it all even louder. And yes Ridley for smash is a controversial topic. Look up Ridley for Smash on youtube or any Smash related message board and watch fans tear each other apart. It's a stupid fan made controversy but it's one none the less.

As for the highlighted comment, you shouldn't say things like that, that's taking things a bit too far.

Wait is something happening in a week besides Mario Kart 8?

LTTP: man Ike looks awesome! It still blows my mind when people are upset about having more options and content, like wut?

Since I've been playing through awakening for the first time I am really hoping for Robin's inclusion over Chrom or Lucina just to be different. If they actually gave Chrom his sword AND a lance at least he would have a bit different style than "just another blue haired sword user from fire emblem" even though Marth and Ike play completely different.

So stoked for MK8 in a week and Smash MegatTONS a week after that! All that E3 and demo footage is going to be fantastic! Holding out hope for firm release dates at E3

Do you guys think they'll give the invited players time to practice the game before the tournament? I'm really curious the practice time they're going to get with the game prior to the Invitational. I wouldn't be surprised if they're playing the game already right this moment.

Quick, look at all the streams to see who's playing to figure out who's not on the list.

It's nice to see after the whole tomodachi fiasco that Nintendo is bringing back it's gay main character to one of its biggest franchises. Yes I'm taking about Ike.

Michelangelo painted the Sistine Chapel. Yabuki turned off voice chat in Mario Kart races. True artists of their time.

Nah, I think they'll just invite pro Smash players and let them go in blind, or give them a few hours before the event.
