Watch_Dogs |OT| PS4 would probably melt trying to do this

So how is the online? Is it actually fun or just kinda there?

It's what makes this game a cut above most other open world games, to be honest. Who knows how long it'll last, but it is damn fun invading someone's world. You're also always wondering who is watching you.

You can shoot the guy, but it'll be the same as shooting a random civilian AFAIK.

oh I know, and you're right, I was just being pedantic about the game logic vs reality haha.

But for real, in game if a civvie gets killed and you catch the killer, that is a better result (+ rep +exp) than if you stopped it from ever happening and shot the bad guy.

Kinda messed up.

Yeah, I guess they could have treated it better. I still enjoying doing the crimes, but it's always annoying when I enter the crime scene and the perpetrator sees me by accident and I fail the crime right away.

Hacking CTOS towers is like solving riddles in Arkham City. So good.

So I'm not alone hah! They're somewhat easier though. Don't forget the QR puzzles! They're obviously inspired by the riddler "?" puzzles from the Batman games.

If you invade somebodys world can you not just kill them? I know that isn't the goal but if it was an option I'd do it just to fuck them over...
You can do it but you will lose notoriety. There's no penalty for dieing and you can't be invaded while a mission is active, so you would be wasting your own time more than anything.

Couple of things from the last few pages that struck me as cool as fuck:

First person on motorbikes has lean. I'm gonna be holding my breath squeezing between cars at lights at speed evading cops or other players, speaking of which. the fact that that dude is just stood there having his photo taken whether he's just pixel perfect in positioning or not it's the ultimate blending in and I can imagine a random invader just running past thinking NPC.
Fwiw I'm glad this thread has gotten over it's toxic phase and peeps are really starting to enjoy the game :)

Totally worth to shotgun a player in the back of the head who just walked past you scaring the shit out of them muhuhahaha

Hey Dawg, could you clarify something for me? I'm seeing conflicting info on whether or not you get notified when someone is tailing - not hacking - you. Earlier info claims the victim is never notified if you stay undetected, but some new streamers claim that you are.

Speaking of multiplayer, now that its out in the wild how does the progression system work?

Does disabling invasions (even just once) permanently wipe out all of your accrued notoriety? Was that early review full of shit?

Afraid I can't answer that one, I did a bunch of hacking but have yet to try tailing. Maybe I'll try in a bit, or perhaps someone else can answer this one.

I'm glad I stayed away from the hate this game received and kept my PS4 preorder, now I'm just jealous of you guys.

Ok, managed to get AA turned off and textures set as low as possible, also running at 720p. So I guess this is comparable to last gen versions.

EDIT: Doesn't look that bad from images, but in motion, it looks horrendous, also you have to remember the FPS it will be running on PS3/360 and will be upscaled to 1080 if you have a HDTV[/quote]

that looks awful, the last gen console versions are much prettier than this low setting

Hey quys, quick PC questions.

So I'm not a heavy pc gamer, but I'll probably be playing this on my laptop since I don't have access to my PS4 since I'm out of town.

My laptop can play, let's say Dark Souls 2 at everything on high settings, except I have to run it at 720p, and the framerate sits between 30 fps and 60 fps. Heavy areas, obviously 30, lighter areas obviously at 60 fps.

You think I can run this game at something that sits between PS3 and PS4 levels?

Can someone please answer my question about the different special editions and versions. Which one is the best to get with the most content. The OP seems to suggest some versions have different content then others, with the psn version having the most shit. Should I go downloadable or stick with my reserve at gamestop?

Say what you will about Ubisoft, they have figured out the previous gen consoles (360/ps3 anyway). The console shot looks like a complete product. The low PC screen looks like the game is still in development, can't imagine playing it looking like that.

Thanks for positng

Been playing for a couple days now. I still think it's pretty boring. I think I'll have to just skip all of the side content and rush through the story. Even the story is terribly uninteresting, overdramatic and kind of hard to follow. I played a ton of and loved other open world games like AC4, Infamous and Sleeping Dogs, so I do like games with this kind of open world structure. The hacker angle just isn't interesting or fun enough to distinguish this game in any way for me.

Oh wow, thanks for this.

it's funny how the tree has less branches and leaves, no matter how much messing I did with the settings that didn't happen for me.

Also, where's the NPC's? It's like a ghost town

I'd think in terms of the game it's because the guy is able to simply complete the crime later, since you weren't able to kill / disable him.

This is what I figure. Especially since the one time I failed (only did 2 or 3) the guy had a history of witness tampering, so I figure he's just going to end up attacking the person again later when I'm not around.

I'm gonna take a stab Dennis's PC didn't cost $400. So, when a $400 console can play this game and have decent graphics and gameplay, I'm happy. I'm not going to complain about it. Most graphics cards that do what the ps4 can would cost me at least 1/2 to 3/4 the cost of the PS4.

If you want top of the line graphics and IF You have the money to pay for it, great! I would if I could and be happy to show it off, and annoyed if the game were not able to take advantage of the hardware.

Agreed.
It's actually really, really fun. The multiplayer wasn't something I was particularly interested in to start with (although the more I saw of it the more I became), but after playing a few of the modes it's definitely a blast. The 2 modes I've tried (the hacking one, along with tailing) fit well within the game and have turned out to be 2 of the most refreshing multiplayer modes I've played quite honestly.

Tailing has been my favourite of the two (so far). It's quite an experience trying to blend in with other NPCs, traffic and trying to keep yourself hidden and being profiled by the other player whilst observing their every move, all whilst they're unaware that you're even there (as far as I know). Unless you start messing with them hehe. The flip side of that is that you're never quite sure who is watching you either unless you happen to spot them, but that's the beauty of it. In the hacking mode you're alerted to the other players presence but I don't believe you are with tailing, at least I never have been and (apart from when I've been spotted) most of the people I've tailed have appeared to be unaware of me being there, just going about their business. Unlike the hacking mode when they're actively searching for you. Speaking of which. I was doing some shopping in a gun store earlier and could hear some commotion going on outside at one point but figured it was just NPCs. However, when I exited the shop a few moments later I found the streets in total darkness. I can't say for certain whether it was another player that caused the blackout but something did and I know it wasn't me and I didn't appear to receive any kind of notification of anyone elses presence. Was a little strange haha.

Anyway, If the other player discovers you whilst you're observing them then the objective changes. The other player is now aware of you and it's their job to take you down, and for you it's to escape. Lots of fun which I'm sure will be even better on Tuesday when more people receive their copies and are online. Kinda adds another layer to the game.

I feel the opposite. This is one of the most fun and best looking open world game I played. There is so much life and detail in the environment it never gets boring. There are no filler "drive an NPC around while listening to dialogue" missions, stealth is actually really well implemented and fun.

I can't wait for Tuesday where everybody gets on and I can do online invasions all the time.

My PC was built on a budget, a FX-6300 overclocked to hell and a GTX-760

Not at all expensive really.

Right, but, how close to $400 was it including all components, casing, controllers or key/mouse, OS..etc. ? Don't count the monitor since consoles don't come with those

Those two components right now combined = $370. PS4 = $399 complete.

Some PS4 footage of me taking down a Criminal Convoy (no story).

Game is pretty great, offers some unexpected surprises. The first time someone hacks you (another online player) is pretty amazing...

Huh I didn't think to turn it into a chase, I always set up a roadblock further up route with a truck/getaway vehicle and just toss a grenade at the main car when it stops and get the hell out of there.

lol the story is not hard to follow. If anything it is too simple.

Couldn't really say, the PSU, accessories, case and heatskins/fans were all things I already had.

I just bought a new mobo and the two parts I mentioned. Guess you could see if you could do the same? don't really need 'Gaming' peripherals like over priced mice and keyboards as I just use a pad.
