Watch_Dogs |OT| PS4 would probably melt trying to do this

Wow that cockpit view almost looks as good as the E3 2012 demo.

High 80s? Is the gameplay that good? Did Ubisoft manage to pull off an open world game that is fun in sandbox (a la GTA) for once?

I'm loving it. Who knows how long it will stay this good, but right now I'm having a lot of fun.

Random question. Can you flip cars over?

I dont think I have seen a car go up on two wheels or be turned over on its roof yet at all.

They can, but they sort of roll back over.

So why isnt there a playtime timer in the game like in AC4??

This shit should be standard with every game today!

Most of these images are from the cleaner downtown area and-while I do agree that things have been taken out (namely some post process and DOF effects- other areas of the game look quite "lived in".

Ehhh, "lived in" implies I have issues strictly with the environmental detail, but it's not just that. I'll be able to better articulate my feelings after a few hours of playing on Tuesday, but if what I'm seeing right now is consistent for the rest of the game (and these are PC screens, the best the game will look), this isn't something that'll change even in the more rundown sections. The image, as a whole, from lighting to post processing looks boring. The downtown photos only accentuate that because of the cleaner, boxy architecture. I'll admit that this is a very subjective thing I'm talking about here, but I kinda want to say that the style is too sharp. I think more stylized lighting and some grain + softness to the screen would make the game look a lot more appealing.

It's like when people say Killzone 2 had the "CG look," the same comments being made for The Order: 1886 right now. Watch_Dogs could do with some of that.

Couple of questions for those that have it:
1) Are there collectibles hidden throughout the city to collect?

2) Has anyone played the team-based multiplayer mode yet? Is it any good?

Thanks!

I actually really agree with you, now that I know what you mean. The image itself is too clean. It needs some grime on the lens, so to speak. I miss the heavier DOF.

I Agree.

Like the roads and pavements look like simple textures and such, which is why the game looks so much better when it is wet on the ground ( hides them)

GTA V on the other hand did textures perfectly, for the most part.

Crossing Eden

Hello, my name is Yves Guillemot, Vivendi S.A.'s Employee of the Month!
How are Ubi PS4 servers holding up? I hope we don't have another GTA V fiasco on our hands.

In real life, there is a thing called shadows. Cities are full of them. Not in Watch Dogs :p.
In real life during certain times of day there's this thing called global illumination. Meaning that not everything is casting hard shadows at all times.

You can but it has the GTA style mechanic where you can sort of roll it back over if you try hard enough.

For your first question, yes there are. A number of collectables including QR codes and items. Also I noticed no one else has mentioned it but there is a really cool "check-in" system for major places, like that Mayor app on mobile phones. Just small things like that really make this game way more fun.

Heres me and lisa starting the campaign, shows the first 10~ mins so SPOILERZ

What would you guys want to see from the game?

more random Gameplay or campaign?

Thanks a lot for the info.

One more question for those with the Xbox One version:
Does the Kinect play a role at all when playing Watch Dogs?

love on your sleeve
This thread has gotten me more excited for the game than all of Ubisoft's marketing over the last two years. Can't wait to crack this open on Tuesday.

How long can you exist in someone's world, do you enter and then there's a hard time of five minutes to hack them - or does this start or reset when the hack is initiated?

I ask because the notion of stalking someone unnoticed as they mess around is very awesome - get in some real spy craft and hit them when they're least suspecting it.

Something I've noticed in my Xbox One adventures - bikes have no damage model. You can smash them head first into cars and they still look exactly the same. There's little damage in cars too, you can ram things head first and they just move out of the way basically. Tank simulator. It does help evading police, though.

I wonder if WD will be the largest about-face on NeoGaf, in terms of general consensus? I know I myself was apprehensive after the delays and "downgradeton" threads, but I'm back to pre PS4 launch levels of hype for this.

Just placed my PSN preorder. I can't wait. Nothing in the op about it, but is there preload? PEACE.
Pre-loading starts with Destiny, and after that all games will have pre-loading. They sent out a notice and email detailing this to anyone that pre-ordered Watch Dogs, so you should probably get that soon.

Any good Xbox One videos?

If you have a tablet, phone, or Xbox One, there's a ton of direct feed footage in Upload. Just search for the game in XBL or in smartglass. On Youtube some guy has been doing a full run through of the game on XBox One if you dont mind spoilers.

You've been advertising your channel non-stop for a couple of days now. I think it's frowned upon here. Can a MOD check this guy out? It's a bit annoying.

I see quite a few favorable impressions, looks like I'll be giving this a rental

The fact that AC3 received 9s and 10s considering how half-baked and broken it was is mind-boggling. It's part of the reason I'm skeptical about Watch_Dogs and most open-world Ubi releases honestly.

Though the praise in here shows some guarded promise.

This is one of the main reasons why I no longer put stock into game reviews.
