In terms of tiers of megaton announcements:

Crash from Naughty Dog > The Last Guardian > Project Beast > Stellar Uncharted 4 showing

It's reached near mythical status now. A Souls game would be met by raptures, but the roof will come off if TLG is announced at E3.

It's like someone announcing the achievement of cold fusion, and then that they've discovered Jesus sat astride the Ark of the Covenant, sipping wine out of the Holy Grail, playing a copy of ET on the Atari2600.

Exactly. The TLG hype and hope has reached legend status. Project Beast was just recently leaked.

TLG will be a bigger applause, but that's not what's most important to Sony.

Dark Souls is the King right now, it's the core title, it's the community to capture. Sony securing Beast Souls is like them personally collecting the million most prolific gamers for the entire generation. They'll buy the most games, they'll be the most vocal about the platform, they're 'alpha consumers' within the market.

TLG should be a great game, and I think it'll sell respectably, but it's not going to impact PS4's performance much at all.

I haven't been back in almost 15 hours or so. Steve Butts still hasn't even come close to saying "sorry for the mishap" or anything of the sort, eh? From what I can tell both him and IGN are still trying to blame sources. Shit's crazy to me. Dude didn't have a gun to his head being told to run the story. He chose to. He takes the fall. Simple.

what if sony is the one who is not speaking the truth?

Here is a premise and a question.

Sony shows a new trailer tomorrow for The Last Guardian and says the game will launch this fall on PS3/PS4 and there will be a live demo at TGS. What should happen to IGN and what action, in addition to jisatsu, should IGN commit.
Probably shoot themselves in the foot and sudoku. Maybe publicly apologize. Officially. Maybe.

And someone correct me if I'm wrong but, a mod/admin said Project Beast wasn't the Ace for the show. If that's the case, there is only one game unveiling that could top it.
I know. FF VII remake for PS4 will be glorious!
Im super excited for The Last Guardian, hope it's there :(

Just imagine if it was released over E3 digitally.

PSNetwork wouldn't so much go down as collapse into a black hole and take the planet, solar system and most of the galaxy with it.

Apart from Neil Druckmann. Nothing can destroy Neil Druckmann.

IGN would run the story and tell its readers to check back frequently for more TLG news as it breaks. There will be no accountability and no real consequences for this breach of journalistic "integrity." No one is even going to be talking about it by this time tomorrow.

This thread's massive popularity / #1 trending on Twiter gives me a lot of hope that The Last Guardian, if it ever does come out, it will sell quite well.

Well enough to cover 8 years of development costs, at least. :p

I sort of doubt they'd make back the budget, but I think if they come within a reasonable ballpark of doing so they would probably be satisfied writing off the difference as worthwhile for the sake of driving PS4 adoption in Japan and "franchise maintenance" (not that TLG is a franchise as such, but because of the developer's pedigree it has a similar function in practice).

Write off the difference as being reflected in PS4s sold and call it a day, sort of like Microsoft wanted to do with the whole Titanfall hooplah.

I think that the name TLG is already too big to kill him. I just hope that TLG will be like the E3 Trailer and no completly different game.

"AND YOU CAN BUY THE FULL, COMPLETE VERSION OF THE LAST GUARDIAN...

...

RIGHT AFTER THE CONFERENCE AT GAMESTOP!!!!!"

The crowd goes wild and GAF servers crash for a week.

Of course.
Gamestop employees have been told that they have to work longer hours during E3. To handle the crowds pouring in to buy Last Guardian.

And GAF would never recover from this announcement.

Ign heard it is no longer being developed.

They misreported the news.

It is no longer being developed because it is finished and ready to be announced at e3.

Right?

Is there any hope for Microsoft winning E3, if Sony shows The Last Guardian tomorrow?

The Last Guardian and Project Beast would be one hell of a one two punch.

So who's position is to say the project is cancelled? IGN's or Sony's? That the issue here.

It sure as hell isn't IGN's place to claim it's been "officially cancelled", let's be clear about that. I'm fine with reporting on rumours, if they're explicitly reported as such. What IGN did was ridiculous.

But Sony saying it's "NOT cancelled" doesn't mean a whole lot. It's the same vague shit they've been saying for years. It's up to Sony to fucking DO SOMETHING and show us it's still there, instead of just half saying it's still alive. Like I said, there's a large area between "not cancelled" and "in active development", and Sony seems to be content with keeping us guessing where in that space exactly the game has been lingering for, what, 5 years? It's shameful, really.
The worst part is that everything will be as good as forgotten when/if the game does pop up again, and Sony's presser will be celebrated and GAF will cry tears of joy. Nobody should be celebrated for showing a game they promised 5 years ago.

I don't even care anymore. Just let this shit be over.

My final input on this is that after all this fuss about the game and with the presser being shown in theaters across the country, if Sony doesn't show TLG, I think it will be a disappointment that will go far beyond the usual "another show and no TLG". I think it will be a huge failure on Sony's part.

Well if you don't like either of those games and love Halo and Phantom Dust I'd imagine MS would be the winner for you.

There are certainly GAF posters who would be more excited about The Last Guardian than a Dark Souls-style individual action RPG, but the latter is a far, far more significant announcement than the former from a business perspective.

Seeing how we have had 3 whole Souls games and possibly a 4th on the way before we even seen gameplay for The Nevercomingout Guardian, I think that is a safe bet.

What if...Team ICO needed to rebuild the engine from scratch to support Project Morpheus and it was remade for PS4 because the PS3 couldnt handle the new Morpheus engine?

Many have probably seen the pic where Ueda used the Morpheus.

Failure is a bit too strong, but I can see the disappointment leading to the start of some negative sentiment after all the goodwill they've garnered.
