Anything going for photorealism. So, basically, most Western developed modern games. Give me cartoony, give me comic book style, give me anime, give me something tough to categorize! But give me something that looks like it could exist outside my window and you lose my interest.
Code Name: Steam
All Bioware games.
I know some people don't get into JRPGs because of the anime... but many American RPG character designs are absolutely grotesque looking, even (perhaps especially) the ones that are supposed to look attractive.
Also it looks like a style over substance game that probably plays like ass.
Why is Dust always the first game mentioned in these kinds of threads?

What pedophilic aspect are you talking about? There is none.Really? I thought it was absolutely amazing. One of the most visually impressive games I've ever played.
For me, it's probably the Atelier games. They sound interesting but I just can't get over the pedoriffic aspect to these games. No, I don't want to see a 12 year old girl's asscrack.
It's a DLC costume. What the...? Is there any attempt at an explanation for this in the game?

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. The character designs are bad.
That's what I used to say until I saw Codename S.T.E.A.M...No artsyle can make me not try a good game.
But it was Xbox/GameCube era. Not N64.you're right about that. the cutscenes were enjoyable but it's wrapped up in a n64-era, c-tier platformer
It was pretty jarring in that sense, even if you like anthro art and such.
The only reason I even tried this game (not into fighters) is for the amazing hand drawn animation. Beautifully done stuff.Really surprising that nobody has said Skullgirls.

I tried a demo for Darksiders, don't know if that counts.
Absolutely disgusting Todd McFarlene-knockoff gothic overdone mess of an art-style. I find the artwork above hideous, and since this was more of a mid-tier last gen game, it wasn't going to fully live up to the artwork either. The demo wasn't fun to me and I've never had any desire to seek this out, even after hearing praise for it. The art style wasn't the sole reason, but I believe it played a considerable part.
I just can't STAND those awful Japanese games with their terrible kiddy art that insults the real values of games as a medium for grown up, manly, kickass men like me.

About anime: This is okay:
This is NOT:
In my opinion, of course.
