Well, crap. I love rice. Trying to reduce my carbs, though I gotta have some rice, you know?
Well you can have rice, but it does not work well for fasting. In my experience, if I had rice meal during suhoor and woke up and went to work, my stomach was burning with hunger. After that sensation was gone, my energy levels were low compared to other diets. You get hungry regardless with any other diet, but with rice, it's just more difficult to manage.

Iceland is forever hardcore mode.

i am guessing fasting time change for them ?

I'd like to join you guys this year, but I'm not really sure if its possible. Will be working in 95 degree heat throughout the weekdays so not drinking anything would be a very bad idea. How do you deal with hunger headaches?

I've heard that a light workout like jogging is best an hour before breaking fast because your blood sugar is low so your body will metabolize fat.

But I'm no expert and neither is the guy I heard this from, so take it with a grain of salt.

This makes sense and I'll probably end up doing this, but what will keep the body from not using muscles instead of fat?

In Iceland you dont have to fast for 22 Hs ..

Working from 8 - 2 for a month. Man i love Ramadan. Let's me finish work, go to gym and get home before 4pm each day...this is how the world should run normally!

Also, all our MD's are more chilled out so i get a lot more work done with less interference.

Hmm ok. I'll see what I'll do soon

I know you aren't supposed to complain, but I will say; The thirst makes my headaches really worse. I hope I get used to it after 2-3 more days of fasting.

Id say this has been the easiest first day of fasting I've had in a while, helps that I drank two bottles of water back to back right before I prayed fajhir.

Just over an hour left. Man I miss caffeine!

Congrats to all of you who had their first roza :) We are next. Tonight's going to be first Taraweeh for us. andherewego.gif

I'm sure there are many people here that can offer a healthier desi variety in food. My rule is to not have the same stuff every day. For example, I will have a couple samosas today, but I will have dahi vade the next, and something else the other.

I will advise everyone here one thing do. After breaking the fast, make sure you drink water like there's no tomorrow! You are at risk of developing kidney stones because of dehydration, followed by fried and salty food and caffeine in the form of chai/coffee afterwards (which dehydrates your body even more!). DRINK LOTSA WATER.

Yep, I drank a ton of water before going to bed. I can get over hunger pangs relatively quickly but the thirst is what gets to me. I've been peeing like crazy all day though lol

The first few days are always tough. Remember, try to avoid dehydration at all costs. It can lead to headaches, fatigue, stress and even pose problems for kidneys. Drinking lots of water just before the start is the only solution.
Dehydration is another common trigger, adequate intake of fluid before the onset of the fast can often prevent headaches. The human brain is more than 75% water, and it is very sensitive to the amount of water available to it. When the brain detects that the water supply is too low, it begins to produce histamines. This is essentially a process of water rationing and conservation, in order to safeguard the brain in case the water shortage continues for a long period of time. The histamines directly cause pain and fatigue, in other words a headache and the low energy that usually accompanies it.

Having it start on the weekend instead of a weekday was definitely a big plus.

This is a mistake I made. I should drink a lot more, especially with this heat. I don't eat food that really has that much sodium, I think I will take a salt/ electrolyte tablet before going to bed. Sweat a lot today, and it's only going to get hotter.

Ramazan Mubarak everyone. The hours between Sehri and Iftari are not that long here but I sure hope the weather accommodates suitably for the month.

I ate a big dinner so I could eat less for Suhoor and made more space for water. I dont know if I'll be able to do this during the weekday but I guess I'll just have lots of tiny meals from Iftar until bedtime.

I dont even feel hungry right now. My head just feels foggy. Funny enough I've felt relatively energetic throughout the day.

Same here. I don't feel hungry at all.

It's the thirst ...

NOOOO... I forgot to drink water and now time's over, have to wait 15 hours ;_;

I'm planning to lose at less 6kg this month, gained a little weight in the past few months and I've been hating myself for it.

I had such a perfect body, why I had to ruin in by eating everything I desire like a crazy person -_-"

So far so good. Had peanut butter sandwich, a plum, and a cucumber for sahoor. Don't feel hungry or thirsty, but I definitely want some coffee.

Less than 3 hours to go.

Is it a good idea to run for about an hour before you start eating suhoor?

Will I be drained for the rest of the day?

My appetite is gone, but I helped myself to lots of dates and fruits and CAFFEINE. I guess I'll eat meats and stuff later tonight instead of forcing myself and feeling sick.

What?

Instant noodles, yes, but not rice. But maybe I am trained at it well since it's the typical food to eat in Indonesia, hahaha.

On a side note, I twist my right leg real baddddd when I walked towards the mosque for tarawih last night (damn dark roads and unsuspecting holes on the road), and now it's painful to just walk :((((( And pray :((((((( Ah well....... what can you do.....

Yeah, I know. I literally drink it in drops. It has way too much sugar. I take a glass and glaze the walls with a few drops of Rooh Afza, Then throw in ice and fill it with water. It makes it taste/smell like it. Sounds weird, but w/e.

Drink it with buttermilk. It becomes more awesome!
