Ah, I think I can piece it together. To answer your legitimate question, real life is why my group isn't working on t9, or any coil for that matter. Furthermore I did not claim that my group was healthier then ever, but the game was because of hunts. I can easily differentiate between the two. As much as I love the people in my group the hunts offer something more then being locked in an area with a static 7 other people. Given the opportunity again to go out and do things with the server as a whole, for better or worse, has its value to me. Having one aspect of the game not tied down to limits and caps and forced spawn triggers has it's value to me. It having a good enough reward to keep people doing it has it's value to me.

It has always been my position that hunts are a net gain for the game whose upside far outweighs the downsides of. Individual server communities are growing and this also provides the framework for more content when we have bigger and better zones added onto the game. More content that doesn't make the gameworld feel like a waiting room for the actual gameplay I mean. Once again, that has value to me.

I would claim that your question was in poor form and irrelevant to what you were asking it about, but it seems you thought the same and deleted it. Just responding because you did ask me a direct question that others acted as my mouthpiece on.

Need to move into T6 soon. I got my last useful piece of Evenstar gear today so now there isn't much more gear other than the coil stuff. I'm hoping tonight after a few more hunts I can get my first piece of sands to upgrade a piece of my gear which should put me at ilvl 100.

I'm also close to finishing up my Animus and I should be able to get my Novus right away and start on that.

I think at one point you could search one member ingame, check the fc profile and apply from there, I don't if it still works. But yeah, like it's been said, look for us in the markets, GC turn in place. Or, go to the drybrush station and wait till a hunt pops. Lots of gaffers will appear.

Yeah find a hunt then look for the guy who pulled too early. He will be from GAF.

the story mode of last patch was utter garbage. so much porting/traveling for a bag of hot air. what were they thinking?

some of the tiny cutscenes were nice at least.

I thought the story in the Leviathan patch was great with the Domans, there were some badass cutscenes with Yugiri and Thancred. I also liked the stuff in this patch with the refugees and the story seems to be going to cool places. However, Ramuh totally felt shoehorned in because they needed a new primal.

usually for ct/regular dungeons accuracy cap isn't important. Acc only comes into play in the extreme primals and coil

Ah, excellent, thanks. I just assumed it was a sloped requirement from endgame on. If I can keep going after HM primals and CT with shitty accuracy then I'm good until the pants show up.

it is truly the greatest hat. Also the first thing I got in ST so now I'm free to get whatever else, though I think I'd prefer the chest or booties.

Amon's fashion sense is truly the best. I'm disappointed that a.) the lockout makes me pick between actual upgrades and glamour, and b.) there's apparently no way to get his cape.

Yea I don't think they'll put in acc requirements in the dungeons/ct since if you don't have access to coil loot/alternative options there's no way to adjust acc. Plus it'd be a headache for players to know what they need for a bunch of different things

I disagree here. I don't think Ramuh felt shoehorned in at all. I actually think he had been around for the most part for the entire time of the story. It probably felt that way because you fight him early on in the 2.3 storyline. Mainly because this was not about Ramuh at all.
This patch was about finally getting to meat of the Realm's real threats and also exposing the complete ineptitude of the current city states. The cutscene with Nanamo told the tale. All of them are powerless because of their own reasons. Because of this, Alphinaud takes action.

The 2.3 story was much better than the 2.2 for me since Levi was a complete let down, said nothing and came off as a mere serpent. He actually looked pathetic when compared to Midgardsormr (go see the 1.0 or the Gaius flashback in 2.0). Yeah, sure. Seeing some flashy animations was neat, but everything else was pretty bland.

In 2.3, we're finally getting some pay off. We finally had a Primal who wasn't insane and spoke with us rationally. We finally see someone step up and take action because the current city states suck. We finally get to see Rowena rise to official Tom Nook status. =D

I kind of love the idea of Frontlines in the grander scale of the game. "Oh hey guys, we keep having these threats that attack all of us. We could unite together... BUT NAH FUCK THAT, LARGE SCALE WAR GAMES BETWEEN THE GCs".

Which is even crazier since Frontlines has become the carrot dangled in front of the GCs to keep their attention away from whats really going on. And it worked flawlessly.

I think it's likely one of the future plot twists is the new army being considered a threat by the city states and some kind of war breaks out between them all. It's also kind of weird seeing all the blue uniformed guys everywhere now that I completed the main quest, they don't even have dialogue yet. They actually should be the ones taking care of the hunts, as it is a Eorzea wide organisation.

Either way, my favorite part of the 2.3 story was
the shiva tease
.

No problem :) You can trade in other items to get the Artisan Spectacles, 10x HQ Sprirt of Salts is 1/2 as efficient, requires 2x HQ Volcanic Rock Salt... but I wouldn't do the others... 2x HQ Dark Steel Nuggets will run you 10K for just 1 HQ Darksteel Hook and forget about HQ Rose Gold Nuggets :p

One of the many reasons I try to stay free at 5pm Eorzea time! Got to get those rock salts lol.

Eh, Levi is a regular old primal. Midgarsomr is supposed to be an elder primal, no? Levi looking pathetic compared to Midgarsomr is pretty normal?

With regards to frontlines story though, the objective is to wrap PVP with a viable story, so something like teaming up to fight against Garleans is more of a PVE thing.

If we end up storming Ishgard though, that's good times too.

I probably spend more time Gathering than Crafting. 1pm Dzemael Tomatoes -> 5pm Volcanic Rock Salt -> 1am Darksteel Ore / Crawler Cocoons -> 9am Gold Ore / Spruce Logs. I use Kings Yield on the Ore for 25 with 8% HQ.

Midgardsormr was...

Midgardsormr, also known as the Guardian of Silvertear Falls (and sometimes incorrectly referred to as the Keeper of the Lake) was a great dragon that lived in Mor Dhona from primeval times until his death in 1562 (Sixth Astral Era) in the Battle of Silvertear Skies at the hands of the Garlean Empire's massive airship, Agrius.

The legend, as told by Erik, states that, "There was the birth of Althyk, god of time among the Twelve, and in turn, His younger sister Nymeia, goddess of fate. And then there was water, and through it the Silvertear Falls came to be at the center of all that was. Here was the source not only of water, but the fount of all magic as well. Now, when water came into being, so too did the great dragon Midgardsormr. Brother Time and Sister Fate, fearing the Falls might fall into the hands of evil, ordered Midgardsormr their protector and warden. Much later, with the arrival of man, would Midgardsormr be worshipped as the guardian deity of Silvertear Falls."

When the Empire invaded Mor Dhona, knowing it to possess Eorzea's greatest concentration of aether, they incurred the wrath of Midgardsormr, who burst forth from the water to fulfill his purpose as its guardian. Despite fighting "with divine strength and purpose," he, and the dragons that came from Dravania to fight alongside one they revered as a king, could not overpower the might of the Empire's armada.

His last act was a crippling blow to Agrius; enraged, Midgardsormr coiled around the airship and broke through its hull with a massive energy blast. However, as Agrius crashed and Midgardsormr let out a victorious cry, the ceruleum fuel stores within the ship ignited and the resulting explosion destroyed them both. The devastation was such that the Empire retreated to Ala Mhigo and dared not enter Eorzea again until the VIIth Legion under Nael van Darnus was ordered to the western front in 1571.

The remains of Midgardsormr and Agrius still sit in Mor Dhona today, where together they form a monument known as the Keeper of the Lake, and stand as what some consider proof of the existence of the gods.

I don't believe Midgardsormr was a Primal. Just a really big, old, powerful dragon. It doesn't make Levi any less of a bitch though. =)

As the story turns to Ishgard... I start to wonder who is really in the right with the war with Dravania.

Whoa, what the fuck happend in here

Flames in Frontlines; get your shit together! Stick with your groups!

No, we "zerg" now, because we're too braindead to organize any kind of real strategy.

The upshot of all this is that since Flames have a vendetta against Mael they usually bear the brunt of our 24-man raiding parties so Adder is free to 3-4 cap the field. I'm sure Adder is very happy about all this.

thats what I usually see. Got like 30 flames attacking temple for no reason and letting adders win.

You gotta lead your people ari

I can only do so much. For whatever reason "we" like to camp mid, for no reason while Maelstrom are four capping us and Adder pushing our OP. Call for help and you get candid responses like "We gotta hold mid dumbass, that's how you win the game" while there's shit happening at mid, just split groups doing their own thing and enjoying the veiw up there waiting for drones to spawn.

Also, Midgarsomir is not a Primal.

I like that completely segregated Flames managed to converge on the same stupid "strat".

What is it about Flames man?

If that had a chance of happening, I feel like it would've already happened.

I mean it must suck playing Mael these days when your shit is constantly getting mobbed.

Reading a bit more about it, it seems like Midgardsormr was some kind of manifestation of magic. Primals like Levi and Ifrit probably aren't even in the same level of power.

Although if Midgarsormr were still alive obviously those zealots in Ishgard would be stampeding their way through Mor Dhona to KILL THE FILTHY DRAGON. If Nidhogg turns out to be a good guy we'll really have to purge all the dragoons.

Man the Eureka 7 bluray SD remasters are great. It's actually pretty decent looking unlike the joke job that was Spice and Wolf S1 from Funi. That said, it's fucking great reliving Eureka 7 again. Everything that made me fall in love with it is all falling in place. The quote about it being one of the best love stories ever told, I stand by it!

I don't know what this is doing here but hell yeah Eureka Seven!

Considering Moogle Mog, it's only a matter of time before the Dravanian Hordes get a bunch of crystals and wish for ol' Midgar Zolom to be back really hard.

Happy Reset guys.

My statics UAT goes up for grabs this week. I'm going to try to get a Conqueror for my WAR. Then I'm trying to decide if I'm going to farm another set of Atma for the Curtana Atma... I love playing Tanks, but I can't decide which one I prefer. Argh!!

Did a FL last night and Flames were going between camping their single outpost and spawncamping our base (I've been Malestrom since 1.x). We almost caught up thanks to good center game, but with no traction in the outfield thanks to Flames playing kingmaker for Adders, we lost.

He's not an established primal. I mean as a thought form, they could bring back a copy of him, but the original Midgarsomr is a dragon bro for life.

Unless you've been stocking up on Alexandrite and Materia, getting your Novus is going to take awhile. <_<;;

Still not as long as it was before especially if you hunt or fate farm for them.

Well unless you're ignoring Sands and just buying Alexandrite, hunts are actually slower than say, speed runing TamTaraHm over and over. Be that as it may, it'll probably still take you a few weeks, perhaps longer, depending on Materia prices.

I still think the user-triggered S spawns are just a chance and not a guarantee. Punch a rock at the right time, and the system rolls some dice to see if you spawn the S. Keep Core Blimey up long enough/have a person hit 99 cores/whatever the theory is and it starts rolling to see if the S pops. The longer it's been since the last pop, the easier the roll gets. Makes it harder to tell if you've got the trigger right, and prevents anyone from really monopolizing a given spawn.

Valid points, but some of their suggested fixes are, bad.

"Make hunts more like treasure maps."

Yeah, just what this game needs, more highly predictable canned content. If you spawn a Mark yourself in a given zone you, "know," it's there, and a small party can search out many zones hecka quick. It'd take most the fun out of hunting down a Mark.

I might support this as a secondary hunt system however, basically as a third method of getting allied seals.

"Limit Kills per week."

This strikes me as overly dramatic and heavy handed. It could also be potentially very frustrating for players. Imagine going after Hellclaw and only getting half credit because a third of your party died. Too bad, you can't try to get full credit again for a full week.

An Allied Seal Cap might work, and might be necessary, I would also agree that the Daily Hunt rewards should be bigger, to give players an alternative if they don't want to join a formal hunt party.

Ultimately though, I think the one thing they most need to change is the secondary rewards for doing hunts. At the very least, they need to get rid of the Soldiery drop. If people are running dungeons for Soldiery, they aren't hunting. To this end, even the Myth drop rate might need to be adjusted downward, so as to make Roulette's more attractive to people that need Myth for whatever reason.

Again, if a player is doing anything else, dungeons, daily hunts, CT, PVP, raids, whatever, they're not hunting, and the fewer people hunting at any given time the more enjoyable the hunts are for everyone else.

So simply making hunts something other than the one stop shop for everything, would go a long long way towards fixing the problem.

The biggest exposure I have with Massively is Massively Speaking, their podcast, I listen to it pretty much weekly, but XIV has by and large been ignored. I know Eliot keeps up with his editorials and Mog Log, but there are a number of points I can't help but disagree with him on whenever he actually speaks about XIV.

The Hunt is a clusterfuck though if you treat it as the only thing added this patch. Curious to see what they do down the line, but his solutions aren't what I would consider ideal..

Also! ALSO! LOST MY 6TH GOD DAMN MIRROR YESTERDAY! ROLLED A 4. JUST GIVE ME ONE ALREADY I ONLY WANT IT FOR COSMETICS GOD DAAAAAAAAAAAMN

okay plan is to hit rank 40 tonight. 7 frontline matches should be plenty if I win 3, and I don't need marks since I already got my (useless) axe.

Now just have to hope all the bads who hopped on the maelstrom train last week got bored and went back to whatever crappy factions they came from. Queue times were getting ridiculous.

If they make pvp gear useful in frontlines I'd be open to gearing a class that would actually make a difference in there. Specifically WHM...although I guess I'd need swiftcast too. Believe it or not I was a PVP healer in WoW for a million years so running around spamming HoTs is something I'm good at.

can't switch gc's again until 15 days have passed so we're stuck. I did have a match earlier with kami neko lol
