The Last of Us: Remastered |OT| Game of the Years

Creamium

shut uuuuuuuuuuuuuuup
I'm noticing that the blacks seems more gray and washed out. Idk if it's a console setting or just the game. Other than that it looks really good. Definitely the way it was meant to be seen.

This was the case for me as well, before I set the RGB to limited in the PS4 settings. Image/gamma is much better for me now.

I just passed the bit where
Ellie shoots that Hunter when he's trying to kill Joel.
Sounds like I've still got quite a way to go.

Oh boy do you ever! If you're loving it now I can only say that the game gets even better the further you go. Many surprises in store :) Savour it and enjoy it while it lasts

Quick question, I only ever played the PS3 on normal. I started this on hard - listen mode is still enabled....I thought the higher difficulty settings removed it? I'm early on to where the game asks you to use it underground with Tess like a tutorial - is this just because it's a tutorial or is ti allowed through the entire game?

What's with the massive input lag when playing at 30fps? I booted up the ps3 version to compare and it's a world of difference, it's so much more smoother on the ps3 despite running a lower framerate most of the time.

1080p/60. What a pleasure. Its been a joy to play through this game a second time. Well done ND. Can't wait to see what they release next.

Holy shit @ the Hunter fight where
Ellie finally gets a gun.
I've been here for 2 days on Grounded mode. I've tried scumming the AI with stairs, taking out the sentry first then stealthing everyone else. Holing up and letting friendly AI do all the work (I'm gonna try that again), straight up firefighting. Does anyone have a clip or walkthrough or route on how they did it? When I stealth it basically feels like Edge of Tomorrow (All You Need Is Kill).

It's disabled in survivor and grounded, but you can disable it yourself on hard in the options if you want.

I stealthed through this part. Just go left first then work your way right using the bow and stealth takedowns. But if you kill the intial group of enemies without getting caught, the game will kind of glitch out and just teleport in new enemies to random spots. If you go to the back, you can actually see enemies just standing completely motionless in a row waiting for the combat trigger.

It isn't a glitch, Ellie
needs to be in combat/shoot the rifle you cannot completely stealth it.

I actually don't have any arrows. The only one I can find in the map is in the top right corner in the building with the sniper sentry.

The game does that with The Basement too. If you turn, at the right time when trying the card door, you can see a Runner spawn into existence.

How many are there in total in the entire encounter including the new enemies that spawn? I've memorized the first 6's weapons and type but beyond that is beyond me.

My game also looked like the screenshot, it didn't really bother me as I didn't played the game on PS3. Anyway, I really like the game, although so far I do find the hype a bit exaggerated. The stealth is good but the ai is pretty awkward. For instance, Bill is just running past Tikkers and they don't notice him, same goes for Ellie and enemy AI. Ellie by the way is pretty amazing, love that character. The game is beautiful.

Yeah you can do all collectibles over 2 play-throughs or however many you want.

There's no way to track which ones you got or how many of the total since all I can find it basic totals.

I can't find chapter specific collectible numbers and such.

That is weird but I think ND decided to do it that way as it's less frustrating.

I thought in the PS3 version it did show you on chapter select. Might be my bad memory, but yeah some of the stuff there is no way outside of memorization.

ha,i also did that section today, took me a while too and in the end i resorted to ai abuse as well.
i managed to take out the 1st set of guys completely stealthy, then the second set spawns and (usually?) doesn´t move until you throw a bottle or fire a gun.

off the top of my head:
first went left behind a car to the left and waited for the 3 guys´ conversation to end. 1st guy walks right past the car and you can take him out right there. 2nd guy is in the bank to the left and can be taken out behind the counter. then go back again (past ellie´s hideout) to the coffee shop (hide behind counter). 3rd guy comes down the stairs and can be taken out when he passes the counter. 4th guy is the one in the other shop, he comes into the alley for a bit and can be taken out on his way back into the store back-room. 5th guy is the sniper up top, can be taken out right at the corner of the walkway. 6th is the one that patrols between sandwich shop and bank, 7th the one in the center of the plaza. that´s the first set.

2nd set should be 4 guys spawning in their hideout (i placed a nail bomb at the entrance and shot one of them with an arrow from the balcony to set them off), and 2 each at both ends of the road that runs through in front of ellie´s hideout. used a combination of brick, bow and ellie to finish them.

If I recall correctly, you have like 8 enemies, first batch, then 6 more ennemies respawn.
4 of them respawning behind the buses, north of the arena : 2 behind the bus on the right, the other two behind the left bus. The two others near where Elie is.
I started by going right,
dispatching stealthily the enemy with a Molotov, continuing with the one on the ground floor of the next building, then backtracked, went up the stairs, killed the "sniper", grabbed the arrow, shot it at the guy right beneath that building, went to the other side, took out the enemy, then to the middle section, and finally the guy up front. After that, I went north (the group of newly spawned enemy won’t move, and the one near Elie wont spawn now cause I'm there when I kill the last enemy) somehow the arrow I shot earlier didn’t break, so I killed one of the enemies near the left bus from the snipers spot, the others started to move, I killed them with a Molotov and shot the last two that spawn near Elie with her help.
Hope this helps if that's not too confusing :).

What smoothing option are you talking about? 30fps is 30fps digital foundry already showed it is LOCKED at 30fps. there may be less motion blur that is making it LOOK jittery but it is no question running locked 30fps. without any blur this IS how 30fps IS.

You just repeated what I was saying.

I know it's locked at 30 FPS, but there is a distinct lack of motion blur when compared to other games, due to the fact that it's optimized and meant to be played at 60 FPS.

It's janky as hell, that's what I was commenting on and I was initially trying to figure out why, because I knew for a fact it wasn't "my brain trying to adjust".

So, my friend asked me how I could take over his PS4 system to get him past a spot he's stuck on and it dawned on me: That feature was advertised at the reveal and never brought up since.

We can't do that on PS4 yet, can we?

This game is harder then I was thinking it would be, even on normal the ammo is not really given out that freely. I just killed roughly 50 hunters (2 separate encounters) using stealth got got exactly zero ammo drops. :(
I am taking a break
right before the second time you fight a bloater, do those damn half clicker half runner things just keep spawning?

Most other 30FPS games don't have motion blur either. In fact TLOU:R has some motion blur, so the game would have appear even less smooth at 30FPS if it didn't have any. Your complaint is indigenous though, as so many 30FPS games have no motion blur at all, and you're making it sound like every single one has it.

Bottomline is, It IS your brain needing to adjust. Play for 10 minutes or so at 30FPS and you'll see how much more natural it seems, it will be like majority of other 30FPS games you played - and even better as it never drops a frame below 30 like 99% of 30FPS games on PS360 did. Although then when you switch back to 60, it will feel like your brain is being overwhelmed with smoothness. It's a completely normal thing, I don't understand why you're trying to deny it.

Crysis 3, maybe.

Like Lord Error said, most last-gen console games have none at all. Naughty Dog and Crytek are two of the best when it comes to the use of that effect.

The motion blur was shutter adjusted for 60fps and it doesn't change back when you enable 30 so at 30fps there is actually a lot less motion blur.

Just finished the game for the first time and I can honestly say no other game has affected me this way, tears were shed throughout the game wow. Bravo Naughty Dog.

Ah so that's why the 30fps option looks like 15 fps. It really does look jacked up.
No, it might be less compared to TLOU on PS3, but again it at least has some motion blur as opposed to so many other 30FPS games. It also never drops a frame below that making it automatically smoother and more stable than just about any 30FPS AAA game on PS360.

Limited, all TV's expect limited by default. Full is a PC setting that most modern TV's will accept also. You do need to check that your TV does accurately display full even if the tv accepts it as some just expand the limited range so therefore you may see colour banding.

Even though my Sony TV accepts full that mode gave me washed out colours and too bright an image in this particular game for some reason Limited gives me the correct image output.

Thank you. I appreciate your advice.

After about 8 hours I think I'm coming to the end, or at least the last 15%. Amazing, wonderful, and beautiful are the only way I can describe it. It's been a joy to play it so far

For those who played the ps3 version quite a lot and loved it, would you say getting the ps4 version is worth it?

Extra performance and graphical improvements noticeable?

Just finishing up my third playthrough (first two on ps3) on hard, had an amazing time with it on ps4 definitely how it should be played. Love this game, most intense combat sequences ever. Currently at
the last bloater group before the hospital
can't wait to play some multiplayer and do the survivor+ glitch for my second playthrough.

Absofuckinglutely. It's so crisp and so smooth. It's worth it for the framerate alone, imo.

So preorder bonuses for campaign show up if my first playthrough is on grounded?

They should (unless you turn them off, at least I think you can). It just gives you a point in crafting speed and healing speed for your upgrades. Digital preorder might have given more but I'm not sure since I didn't get that.

You have the best parts of the game still to come. You've barely scratched the surface. If you like Ellie now just wait :)

Short answer. Yeap. Longer answer. Most definitely. The extra performance and native 1080p is worth every last penny

Finished Left Behind on Grounded. That last encounter was the most intense shit out of the entire game (including the main game). Heart was racing the entire time.

Good stuff.

Guess I should move on to Grounded+ now but I don't know if I can take it right now... This game leaves me heartbroken everytime :(

I prefer 30fps (except for racing and fighting games) but for this game 60fps was the ONLY option. In fact, the 30fps option was making me nauseated. Panning the camera is a jittery mess.
