I can ace Basic for the most part and do ok on Expert. Ultimate scares me though!

Fun game, an improvement from the last one.

Yessss so glad I'm not the only one! It seems like everyone in this topic can SSS ultimate, when I can't even clear a single BMS song lol.

Well this is weird. I was playing A Contest for Aeons on Ultimate & about 1/3rd in (before the notes to summon) the game didn't want to register the circle pad input for certain notes. I even hit the correct direction on the final summon note (which is left) & I KNOW it should've counted, but nope, said it was a miss.

XIII-2 battle theme has destroyed me at the end thanks to that evil violin, I'm definitely getting my revenge later.

Crisis Core - The Price of Freedom

lmao. I never got around to finishing Crisis Core (was near the end too) because of imminent sadnessss.

It just lets you get them earlier.
Honestly, character unlocks are such a non-issue in this game.
When you get the gems you can pick your favorites from a pool and that's only if you haven't picked them from the large selection at the start of the game already.

Yeah, I've already gotten Rydia and Cain on my Team already. 6,779 Rhythmia in, and I'm working all over the place. I do like how the movies for EMSs are added to the Theater once you clear them. I also notice that DLC songs can show up in Quest Medley, as I encountered Roses of May in one of mine.

So many songs. My god..

It's as if Square Enix saw what Namco did with Ridge Racer on PSP and made it even better in the sequel, and then they decided to follow suit.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
My god is the Type-O music amazing, especially We Have Come!

So hype for the game!

Didn't want to kill my touch screen like I did for EBA/Ouendan, so I picked this up since it added in button controls.

Pretty impressed so far, decent song selection. DLC isn't priced too bad either.

Added myself to the list, I mainly play expert, too afraid to play Ultimate hehe

..so you're gonna kill your CirclePad instead? :p (knock on wood)

NOOO! :p I worry about this almost everytime I play, but I felt the same way playing Kid Icarus, Mario Kart, etc. I just hope this 3DS last til the new 3DS XL so I can get alot more money for it when I try to upgrade. I really do enjoy button mode much more though.

Really looking forward to picking this up later. I wanted to get some warm-up in with the original but, well, Hyrule Warriors killed any chances of that happening. Good to see you guys set up a FC list for VS.

This game is everything I wished the first was, and I loved the first a lot.

Has there been any word on whether or not some tracks from XV will be added? It's really odd that Somnus was cut.

I really just want Noctis as a party member.

Spinning slash commands are hard on BMS stages but when they're on a lightning-fast FMS stage I don't see how anyone can do them without memorization.
Damn. Ultimate Cornelia Castle in a Long Quest almost did me in.

Been forcing myself to play Ultimate. I see myself improving. I'm barely clearing levels at least, lol!

Challenging but fun.

Do you think DLC is worth it? I hate dlc but for this game, I may make an exception. I know it adds up but buying a pack each week isn't so bad as opposed to buying five packs in one transaction!

So played the demo again tonight while waiting for the full game.

When doing say Expert (or Ultimate I guess), do any of yous find yourself thrown off by the diagonal directions? I am pretty confident I could have gotten a perfect chain (not perfect crit but I rarely get that on basic anyway lol) on JENOVA if not for a diagonal in the middle of the song that threw me right off.

Yeah, the arrows are challenging especially when they're all over the place with different directions.

Memorization is key I guess. After the fiftieth time, I'll get it!

Wait, you got One Winged Angel in your demo? I got JENOVA (AC version) and Edgar and Sabin's Theme.

Anyway, unlocked Edge, thus making an entire FFIV team. That's enough for tonight.

Me lol. I'll do the exact opposite of the direction they want.

I challenge anyone to beat Under the Weight Ultimate. Stuff is as hard as the real fight.

Can you save parties, or do you always have to switch people out...because I usually end up just sticking with the party I picked from the start. Doesnt help that I like so many FF characters.

It all comes down to repetition and muscle memory, but when you nail that shit down it's satisfying as hell.

Anyone here have musical talent?

Is it easier to play music/rhythm games like this being musically inclined?

Or is this more about memorization than feeling the rhythm?

err iunno about musical talent heh. Not very familiar with rhythm games but I do like playing them.

I've self taught myself piano for a couple years. I'm not good by any standard but I do know some FF songs like the Piano Collection versions of To Zanarkand, Aerith and Tifa's themes, this song from FFVIII (name escapes me), FFIV's Theme of Love...

I think it is definitely easier for stages with weird rhythms or stuff like that. Back beats and EMS stages with their weird patterns have never been too difficult for me. :p

Does your leader equal what is summoned?

Yes if you hit all the notes in the summon sequence. I always use Zidane so I always get Ifrit, for example.
I think if you fail you summon a weak Chocobo. :p

Yes. What the summon is is listed on the character sheet. My leader is Cecil, so I always get Odin.

I guess thats why they give you summon items. Does the summon also determine the type of icons that pop up during its phase?

all the songs I've played are kinda predictable. Like if there's a change in tone, there'll be a note to touch along with it.

Might do it with Smash :)p), but Theat. doesn't require too much wild movement.

At least for the early stages, dunno how crazy stuff gets later on.

That's cool. I can't clap to a song without keeping beat so it's challenging playing some of these Ultimate songs!

I see myself pressing buttons frantically hoping I can just have enough energy at the end.

I also notice some songs are much harder than others on Ultimate. Even on Ultimate, the difficulty progresses with the songs.

I'm starting to think certain songs on Ultimate just aren't suited for the circle pad. War: The White Weapon had times where it didn't seem like it wanted to register my input, though MAYBE it's because of me still having the button pressed down because of how fast the game is making me switch from button pressing to circle pad inputting.

Yeah, some songs are crazy. I've been even trying haudoken movements to try anything to hit those directional inputs.

The worst thing about this game is that playing certain songs will invoke a sense of nostalgia and all you'll want to do is put it down and play the game where the song is from. Currently going through FFX and all I want to do is put down the 3DS, pick up the Vita, and play FFX HD.

Even though I may not be musically talented, being familiar with the songs do help a bit.

It definitely helps to have a sense of familiarity regarding tunes i.e. knowing when beats are bound to come up etc.

It's not that bad tho lol I'm not very good at ultimate stuff yet and even I cleared it on ultimate. I'll admit that being really familiar with the song helped a whole lot. Guess all that trying to clear Titan HM/EX has come in handy!
