But why arent we supposed to post a summary?

Because too many damn sites take the leak summaries and repost it (or make news articles on it!) without crediting anybody.

It's way too easy for data to be disseminated when it's combined into one summary. We need to reduce GAF's notoriety...and that means leak obfuscation instead of massive collections.

It will help make sure we get leaks in the future.



...Also, for those lazy people who always say "What did the PS4 sell?" at the end of the thread, it will make them work for it.

I have to say though, I'm really surprised Forza Horizon 2 didn't chart and that it didn't push units much. There were a few people in that OT who bought XB1's for it and my roommate was considering doing that as well.

I think the sheer numbers of multiplat games plus the number of PS4 owners compared to XB1 owners probably kept FH2 from charting. Shame though as I hear it is a blast.

Yeah the PS4 is an expensive console to hit a top end of all-time septembers. Wii was at $250 although I'm sure it would do almost as well at higher price points with the demand for that thing but still good showing by PS4 and XB1 actually as well

Compared to last gen (first September):

Xbox360 - 527k
PS3 - 119k

So PS4 did about expected and Xbox One did way better than 2nd place last gen (if we just look at the HD consoles). Pretty good for Sony and fantastic job for MS, really turning things around. Lots of momentum leading to Halo and Call of Duty in November.

Also the One almost doubles last month's sales, from 160k -> ~285k

MS should have hired you to do their press release. I'm dead serious. This is much better than the shit they came up with earlier.

This month was interesting. And by "interesting," I mean I think it's pretty interesting that the PS4 is dominating this hard. I think the platform has a true future ahead of itself.

I still think the sales the PS4 and even the Xbox one have been damn impressive given it's at a $399 price point. To have the PS4 reach those types of sales number before hitting $299 is a pretty great feat. Did the 360 sales (which were always murky with the arcade pack) get any price drop before halo 3 came out that year?

i'd say 15 mill globally. I have no idea what their current sell-through in the US is atm.

15 million is only happening if it does terribly. 17-18 more likely, 19-20 possible.

I was thinking they are pretty bad for a five week month with a major title release, major marketing campaign and free game promotion. In its single strongest territory.

The PS4 numbers are finally what you would expect to be seeing in a market elading console, not "through the roof".

Lowered expectations: the generation, I guess.

Think you may want to read up on sales history of consoles. Not sure what you are expecting. If you are thinking year 1 Wii. Then every console will be disappointing in comparison.

I'll set my end of year prediction at 19.2 million

In any other year, in any other generation, the XB1 numbers would be considered pretty damn good. For a September, anyway. As well as their LTD. The PS4 numbers are just friggin through the roof. Its crazytown.

About 30 million is probably a safer estimate. You know, be safe about it. PS4 is going up for sale in Mars soon. That's a whole new planet.

The Wii exceeded this September number once in its lifecycle and that was an unprecedented sales phenomenon, the PS2 never. I'm not sure how that's a low bar.

This is a really good hardware month, I don't really know why one would want to spin it as bad or mediocre.

Because hardware isn't "how well did the best selling console do?", its "How well did hardware sell?".

This isn't a really good hardware month, because the market leader is selling good and everything else is -at best - underperforming

It can be hard to tell in September whether a boost can be accredited to a particular game or the normal increase from August. I would say Destiny PS4 is a clear system seller (especially with the bundle info), as was Halo 3, which saw a significant sales drop for 360 the next month. While an increase in October isn't certain, like from October->November, it historically seems to be the case or at the least sales remain relatively the same from September.

Curious to see how PS4 will fair in October.

No, it's just that the GTAV Euro bundle is simply your standard bundle at the usual price, 439€. Not a lot of added value.
SCEA is probably doing some kind of promotion around launch or directly for Black Friday week, (I'm thinking about the white PS4+GTAV at 399$ for BF) so it's too early for them to announce it.
Considering the success of the Destiny bundle, the fact that SCEA has already done an exclusive PS3+GTAV bundle last year and it was the last time that PS3 won over the 360 in NA, it would be incredibly stupid if they missed the opportunity.
Just like Microsoft hasn't played all their cards, I'm sure you'll be able to get the XB1+ Halo Collection + Forza at 399$ by the end of November.
