Thanks for the reminder. I mistakenly thought he said it was going to be like Triad Wars (apologies for that, Shinobi).
Worrying that this is the way forward for the JC IP. Would have liked at least one more traditional game before they went full F2P.
Ah well, maybe they'll remaster Just Cause 2?

I'm...not against that as much I should be, especially if it means we get something that least resembles a more traditional Just Cause game.
Somewhat true over the last two generations. The cost of AAA development can be staggering if not properly managed. The unrealistically high sales expectations for franchises like Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Hitman, Sleeping Dogs etc suggest that they are overspending during development.

ive bought jc2 at least five times now (lots of gifts for friends as a welcoming to steam/pc gaming thing)

Well it might be a blessing in disguise if they look at this feedback and decide to remove micro-transactions, but I doubt it.

without jumping to too many conclusions prior to any actual confirmed info, I have to say I'm pretty stoked for a JC3. I never played the first one, and think I either rented 2, or got it on sale but remember just enjoying the hell out of it. I ended up playing the hell out of it, I either platinum trophy'd it or was still working on driving every vehicle at least once, but man I had fun with it.

Actually, F2P aside, I'm more surprised that the graphics look almost identical to JC2 all these years later.
JC->JC2 was a huge visual jump and JC2 was incredibly impressive from a graphical perspective. Part of the fun was exploring the beautiful world and causing chaos. These pictures do not look mind-blowing, but I guess to sell to the F2P crowd you have to run on everyone's machines and not just a niche $1,000+ PC market.

Menus are easily faked. Just trying to analyse the pics a bit now.
Not saying they're definitely false, but you never know.
Am I missing a write up or something? Do we know this for sure? Maybe I'm just in denial because it looks shitty.

If this is F2P then they can bugger off.

Why would someone go through the trouble of making fake F2P-focused menus? Makes no sense.

I'm the first person to be annoyed at the incredible lack of Avalanche Studios news, but someone needs to be punched in the face for this.
This is not even leaking press material ahead, this is just leaking random in-editor screenshot of a game as it's being developped, it tells us nothing about the game and just puts it in a bad light.
We as players don't gain anything from seeing that, and now the devs' first "reward" for their several years of hard work on an unseen project is to be deprived of a proper reveal and to see players hate on something that their game might not even be anymore.

This remind me of the people who thought the leaked ACU screens with zero NPC, no lighting and crap textures were "the current gen version most likely".
For all we know that "buy/rent/try" screen could just be a menu mockup made a year and a half ago by an artist to illustrate a powerpoint prez about high level business intentions.

It's pretty obvious which way SE is heading in general. Coupled with Sundberg's comments and these screenshots...well...I wish I had your optimism.

Well that first screen does paint a fairly solid picture. It has the option to buy currency mapped to a control. It seems Shinobi knows something too and has mentioned it won't be a traditional release. It's not like they're baseless assumptions when all info provided is pointing to a different pricing model.
