Canadian Gaming Deals and Discussion Thread 4: That $70s Show

Nintendo better clear things up about Wave 2's launch today! If it is actually this Friday December 12th (my birthday wooo!) then we are looking at 4 days to launch with not a peep from them.

So far the only detail is from EB Games Canada saying they got an email that only Zelda, Diddy and Little Mac will be releasing this Friday, they aren't taking pre-orders and that the stock they get will likely be the only stock they will have until Christmas.

My plan is to go everywhere when they open on Friday morning and keep going, Wal Mart at 7am (have a gift card so would be best to get them here and be done and back in bed), Target at 8am, EB Games at 9:30am and then Future Shop at 10am (will be trying their in store reservations at 3am to hold them).

Will it be that hard? I mean, I went into Target rather late in the morning and it was fully stocked. Hell, I was there last night and they still had at least six different figures.

I wasn't planning on getting Little Mac, but I am trying to gather a variety of fighting styles for practice, so maybe I will.

amazon.ca also lists wave 2 as December 12. I'll just assume that's the release date until otherwise stated.

If EB Games got an email, that's about as rock solid info as we're gonna get. Safe to say there's only the three coming out on Friday.

Still, I don't htink we're at the point where they'll be THAT hard to find. These aren't Tickle Me Elmos we're talking about here.

I preordered a Shulk amiibo from the US Gamestop site, jus tin case. It will cost double with shipping, so I'm hoping I can find one in Canada first and cancel my order. but Need to secure these stupid exclusives while I can.

Edit: As for Villager, I was just looking at Amazon.ca's list of amiibo's, and beside Villager it said "In Stock on December 10th". But then I refreshed the page and that was gone, and I can't get it back. Either way, anyone looking for Villager might want to check Amazon on wednesday.

Even now, you can see that there is an "offer" for Villager at $13.99, but when you actually go to the Villgar's product page, it isn't there. So safe to say there's stock of it coming soon, keep an eye out.

I'm not really into figurines so I guess I'm safe from all those retailer exclusive limited amiibo bs.

Now if only they decide to release "doll" amiibo along with X, hmm...

Only for those 3, the others are still listed as December 31st.

Hmm, that's odd, especially if they do release on the 12th. That's mighty soon.

Oh wow, hopefully this is true and I can get my hands on Marth soon. I missed out twice before, I won't... I can't let that happen again!

I'm glad I have my Villager. No joke, I walked into a Toys R Us 2-3 days after launch and they had several. I saw 0 Marths that day, but did see a few Wii Fit Trainers as well (one at Target, and I think that same TRU had a couple).

What's this you say? The Criterion sale is back :p In all seriousness I might just take advantage. We'll see come payday.

Edit:

Seems ppl were ordering GC adapters off Nippon Yes Asia a couple days ago. Stock is currently depleated. Same with Super UFO.

Damn, wish I knew about this earlier. I tried playing Smash when it came out with the Pro Classic Controller and the Wii U GamePad and it just doesn't feel right, haven't played since then.

trying to get future shop to honor there e3 price on captain toad is a pain in the a$$

they say i was given 30% off of the 69.99 price that I pre-ordered it at. I try to explain the games price was never 69.99! They think that charging me 46$ is right and since the game is $44 now I should get $1 more off

They dont understand it should be 30% off of $44

30 min talking to them and no help ugh

That's how it is. What price you ordered will be the final price and they wont apply the discount if the msrp changed. This is why Amazon is superior in this but suck on shipping lol

It shouldn't be 30% off $44.99. It's whatever you ordered it at or $44.99. Whichever is lower.

they charged me

Captain Toad Treasure Tracker (Nintendo Wii U) $46.42

not even the 44.99

http://www.futureshop.ca/en-ca/pre-order-games.aspx

Q: What happens if the price drops during the pre-order date or on release date?
A: In the event that the price of a pre-ordered item drops between the time you place order and the time it ships, you will automatically be charged the lower price.

I wasn't :\

While I agree that they should absolutely lower it to the MSRP for you, I don't really think they're obligated to discount a price drop. Amazon does, which is sweet, but I don't expect it out of anyone.

I ended up just canceling all my E3 pre-orders that were made with incorrect prices. It's not much of a deal when you jack up the MSRP like they did. They really should have adjusted the price and then applied the 30% discount on the new price. I'd rather they not get my money than save $1 and have to deal with Canada Post maybe or maybe not getting me my game day 1.

Super easy for me. They charged me the $46 and refunded me $20 at the same time. Guess I got lucky.

I'm sorry but how is that Hori arcade stick much of a deal? It's just $8 cheaper?

Free shipping and not having to import it from the US is a pretty significant deal.

I could buy it right now and have it on time for the NA launch of Guilty Gear Xrd next week.

Canadian Gaming Deals and Discussion Thread 5: Is it June yet?

Ahahaha, since we're going into 2015 with this thread (most probably), I thought of something similar like:
Canadian Gaming Deals and Discussion Thread 5: Can't wait until June.

This is where you're wrong. It wasn't a pricedrop, Futureshop decided themselves the game would be 70$ and used a placeholder price so that you could preorder.

The official price is 45$ and you preordered the game under the assumption that you would get a 30% discount if you did so on the game's price.

If you let it slide, nothing in the future would prevent FS/BB from raising their placeholder prices to 80$ and rip you off ou tof the promotion in the process.

I've always gotten the prices adjusted and the promotion properly applied. The fact that their system can't manage the announcement of the real retail price of a product and properly apply promotions shouldn't be your concern but their IT department one.
