DmC Definitive Edition ($40, major rework) & Devil May Cry 4 (w/ Vergil) for XB1/PS4

Nice joke.

But yeah. The DMC HD collection for PS360 is pretty cheap nowadays. Even if its super barebones and they did the most minimum amount of effort required, its still worth it if your looking to play DMC1 and DMC3SE.

Although that's selling short the huge amount of new games coming out next year, do you know why there are so many remasters?

yea ez money

Ninja Theory: "Here's DmC, a different take on Devil May Cry."

Internet: "It's shit! It needs this, this, this, and that to be a TRUE Devil May Cry game!"

Ninja Theory: "Okay, here's DmC Definitive Edition, where we added this, this, this, and that."

Internet: "LOL don't care, still not getting it."

Lesson: Don't bother trying to appeal to the internet.

Oh hey, I was wondering when we'd get one of these posts again.

Browsed Capcom Unity, Gregaman said "No taunts confirmed :/"

Am a bit sad but oh well.

Also Gregaman described the new triple Angel Dash as being Table Hopper-ish.

You left out the fact that these updates are coming 2 years after the game launched and people pointed out that these updates were sorely needed. In the case of some of the fixes, like manual lock on, fans were begging for it to be added almost a year before the game launched. Oh, and they are selling the fixes, instead of patching them into the existing game.

So yeah, I'm glad that Ninja Theory is listening to the community, and it sounds like the game will be much better now. But they don't exactly get a pass on the fact that it took them this long to start listening, and they are charging people a second time for the game they should have shipped 2 years ago.

I'll probably pick it up when it goes on sale though.

Have you looked at the other thread? Nearly every post is, "LOL don't care about all the changes and additions to DmC, OMG VERGIL IN DMC4!!!"

They tried to appeal to a group of people who were never going to like their product because they find the very concept of a western reboot of the franchise as personally insulting.

Um. Literally two posts above mine:

Now while I would never say it's personally insulting, but if they thought all that would change why I am going nope, it's not enough. Now if people enjoy this package more power to them. Just saying it's not for me.

Um, show me that that individual first asked for all this stuff to be added to the game and then didn't want it despite the stuff

Because it's my job to keep track of every single person who has ever requested these features ever.

How about you point me to a single person saying, "I didn't give the game a shot before, but now with these additions, maybe I'll give it a try"?

I'll probably wait to buy it after a price drop considering I've already started playing it on PS3. I like DmC though, and didn't get to really sink my teeth into DMC4.

DmC makes a lot of changes to make it more like a DMC game but people who don't like the CHARACTER of Dante in DmC (yes character, not the look), the story, the art and the platforming then they aren't going to like this new edition either.

This edition is for those who LIKED DmC but thought it could use improvement. It's especially for those who have invested a lot of time in DmC trying to get to the meat of things.

If you hated DmC then you will probably hate this too. However I feel that DMC fans should give this a chance because from the sounds of things at least the game play will entertain. I know most fans are still on the fence on this and want to see some game play... which is confirmed to be coming at the start of 2015 every week until game release. So lots of media to look forward to.

I would say the same thing about DMC4 SE when it arrives. People who liked/loved DMC4 will definitely love it but people who hated DMC4 will pass on that too. These are extra editions not complete reworks of the games.

Not to mention not everyone has a good computer to run the PC version (me), so I never bothered buying the PS3 version because it was overall the inferior version (like Bayonetta 1).

Which is exactly my point. You can't name a single person that fit your big internet "we wanted one thing now we want another" claim. I'm pointing out that the internet is not a single entity, you are trying to claim a mass of people are somehow being hypocritical when you have no such evidence.

This is great news. Now all I need is for a remixed South Park and a remixed Lightning Returns and I can truly say goodbye to last Gen.

As an active port beggar myself, I understand the mindset. It's just weird, I don't think I saw a "But what about the Wii U??" response with any other re-release

I guess if we wanna reach, some people saw Bayo 2, W101,and Devils Third and might have thought "Huh. Niche genre for niche console, When's DMC?" Who knows.

I remember a bit of demand for Metal Gear Rising on Wii U.

what is this even

Still dislike DMC with a passion but watching DMC threads constantly on top of gaming discussion today makes me smile...no matter what there are still fans who like these games!

Well, you could look at also as taking feedback on how to improve the game. And that is beneficial to the middle ground and fans of DmC.

Middle ground:
60fps for DmC? If so, glad I held off.
Fans:

Definitely enjoyed this. I hope it performs better than it did on PS3.

"New to DmC Devil May Cry: Definitive Edition, players will be able to play as Dante's twin brother himself in Vergil's Bloody Palace Mode. For an extra depth of challenge, players will be able to try out the added Gods Must Die and Must Style Mode as well as Hardcore Mode, which has been designed to play more like the classic Devil May Cry series. "

YES! YES! TELL ME MORE!

Except they are not. Read the above.

That was just the first two pages. But let's be honest, you don't really care. You'll ignore anything that doesn't fit your fantasy.

Yea, this is my problem essentially. All these changes sound fantastic, not kidding, but everything else I did not enjoy. I may end up picking it up later, but as of now DMC4SE is higher on my list.

It's what I want.

As someone who preferred DmC to 4, I'm pretty happy. They both need work to live up to the series, and I'm glad Capcom are taking a second chance seriously to revive the franchise.

Doesn't seem to be small updates and they were kind if busy developing their own stuff.

I'm not trying to downplay the amount of work that is going into this, and I am glad they are finally fixing DmC. I was responding to a person wondering why some people who were begging for these changes are not now throwing their wallets at Capcom/Ninja Theory.

New gameplay modes aside (and don't get me wrong, they sound pretty cool), most of the balance changes they are implementing here were known issues within the first week of the game being out. If they had done a better job of listening to the community during the development of the game, they never would have even launched with those problems, and there wouldn't have been a laundry list of complaints about the combat (there would have still been complaints about the story and character design though).

I'm generally not one to double dip on games, so it's hard for me to justify buying a game a second time, specifically because I didn't like it much the first time. But again, it's awesome that this is actually happening.

Nearly lost my shit at work opening this thread and seeing Vergil in DMC4 and a version of DmC that actually implements the most vocal fan feedback.

Like holy shit, everybody wins for once.

Love the color splashes. Each color represents the 3 different colors used in the logo as well as the colors of the 3 characters in the game.

It's really fucking happening... Nero, Vergil and Dante all in one game about to style on some fools!

Edit: Try to enter but it says "NOT ALLOWED".
This is weird.. it worked fine with me.
It only has this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8Evri7vZj4
and by the way, did the original DMC4 have japanese voice acting?

I've already put over a hundred hours into both console and PC versions of DmC. . .and I could not be happier with this announcement.
I'll gladly triple dip for this, as I was secretly hoping a current gen version of DmC would happen. Also really happy they included a 20% Turbo Mode. Game became hard to play after using it.
Plus, DMC4:SE is great too.

No it did not which I mentioned in the other thread. This counts as one of the "features" of DMC4SE I guess.

Would actually be a first for the series... DMC as a series hasn't had Japanese VA before.

Dante's Japanese voice actually matches how a grown man would speak.

Edit: Just realize that this is in fact a megaton. The fact that the game is going to have full Japanese VA means Capcom is actually putting a solid effort into this. They would have to do all the cutscenes for all the characters.

Hype rising...

May try it out when I get a ps4. I enjoyed the demo back when it first game out, but couldn't shell out the moneys for the full game.

Seems cool if you don't have a PC, or don't like gaming on PC. I like the concept of remasters/up-ports quite a lot actually. I found DmC to be good, and know people love DMC4. Hell, DmC only ran at 30fps last-gen, that's downright fucking ripe for an up-port. That game wasn't done justice at 30fps.

So, this is one of the new features in the game. Great! Can't wait to see what other features this game will have
And yes, his Japanese voice fits him perfectly! I wonder if he is the same VA from MVC3

I'm already hyped about this game.. I'll be getting it day one for sure

Treading lightly,

I would prefer DMC5 or DmC2, but I'll get DmC. DMC4 is my least favorite of the series. Yes....more than 2....

May your Jarbbles be warbly.

Edit: on second thought, I'd buy DmC used. They would have to add a lot to it too. I already played it a ton.

well this news is so underwhelming. I feel sorry that DmC2 might be leading DMC series if this is the race to deciding which is to lead since this is not even a fair pit fight.

How do you say that?

You think this new DmC DE is actually going to outsell DMC4SE?
