Arcade style Shmups really are dead now, huh?
Atleast the genre went out on a high note with Crimzon Clover.

Why does Cave not like money?
They need to port all of their games to PC and then over to PS4/XB1.
Same. The term didn't even exist in the 16-bit era, which was the heyday of the genre.
I love shmups, but since Cave's death I pretty much dropped the genre, they made the best ones and pretty much the only ones I cared about. I even bought every single of the mobile ones released; they were still amazing to play.
I really need to check out some of the recommendations in this thread; I'm interested in anything that is in Steam.
Don't be stupid. If course it did. It's been around since the 8-bit days.
Shmup is the original term. Whenever I see someone write STG, it takes my brain a few cycles to work out what they're on about.
Shmup4Life.
Cave has no money. Cave won't be porting or making anything worth mentioning ever again. Cave is fucking dead.
What sets Crimzon Clover apart from every other shooter? No one is saying anything about it other than that it's omg amazing.

Same here. I didn't even know any of those shooters were coming to PS4.Wow. Surprised I'm only hearing about this now.
I can't find much about Ubusana. Not enough info at the moment? Also, any word if it's coming to Vita?
We'll be lucky if they fix their broken iOS games.

What do we know about Ubusana?
I actually completed this one in coop on PC. It's not an all-time great or anything, but it has interesting mechanics with the way you have to repeatedly traverse the levels to protect all the miners later on.OK, I found more games:
- Aqua Kitty: Milk Mine Defender DX: for PS4 and Vita:

A version of the game is already on Steam:

according to adversesolutions in the shmup thread (insider connections) he said it was pretty far off and not to hold your breath for any news in the future.
I kind of feel like it's going to unfortunately fade away like project rs3 (radiant silvergun 3).
I'm sorry for my ignorance but, Radiant Silvergun 3? Is there a Radiant Silvergun 2? or Ikaruga is considered rs2?
I tried playing Danmaku Unlimited 2 on Iphone again, and I have no idea why I didn't like it the first time. The game is really good, and even looks great. Savant Ascent is hard as hell, or I can't figure out how to play it. I can't even get past the first screen in three attempts I made so far.I remember trying Danmaku Unlimited 2 on my phone and didn't really like it for some reason (not the controls, controls were great actually).
I'll give Savant Ascent a try, it seems really different and unique.

Glad I'm not the only one in the "caravan shmups are over abundant" boat.
What are caravan Shmups?
Yes, I'll try both on PC as well. Danmaku supports iCade though, which is fantastic for me (I have modded icade with very high quality stick and buttons)I found the game to be easier using a mouse... I thought it was difficult as hell with my arcade stick and controller. I actually think the game was made with mouse and keyboard in mind first and controllers second.
And Danmaku Unlimited 2 on the big screen with some good headphones is awesome by the way.
Redux Dark Matters developer, Hucast, already has another SHMUP on the way by the name of Ghost Blade. More than likely it will end up on Steam too, eventually. This one looks more my style. Soundtrack sounds like it's going to be just as good as the one in Redux.

The only horizontal shooters I know of on Steam are GundeadliGne and Gundemonium Recollection, and they aren't similar in style/tone at all.Any horizontal shooters similar to Gradius, Darius, Rtype, or Thunder force in style / tone?
I totally.Everything seems very these days.

Satazius is my pick for old style shooter. If bullet hell shooters are not your thing, and you like the more slower paced methodical shooters, like Gradius and Rtype, this game rocks. These are the kinds of shooters that I enjoy immensely, and this game fits the bill.
